Latar Belakang

Abstract

Meeting minutes are note recorded during a meeting. They highlight the key issues that
are discussed, ideas proposed or voted on and activities to be undertaken. The minutes
of a meeting are usually taken by a group designated member. Their task is to provide an
accurate record of what transited during the meeting. Once the person write the minutes,
he or she will share the document with the attendees. It is very insufficient when most of
the work is highly similar each time. By using Minutes Meeting System, it helps the
process by automate the process flow. The Minutes Meeting System helps the process
with redacting the steps of creating new Document file and add reference to the PDF file.
It can save a lot of time compare to traditional minutes meeting. Besides that this system
also allows to store record digitally.

Abstract

Fever screening is a very important step in ensuring the safety and protection of
the students in an educational institution due to the covid’s pandemic as well as the
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) recommended by the Ministry of Higher
Education (MOHE). Thus, education Institutions are implementing various
measures to protect their students, and we believe that developing an early alert
and fever screening system (hereby referred to as the AFSS system) is a good
investment because it automates and simplifies the need for human intervention
while carrying out the steps in the SOP. Therefore, the aim of the project is to
develop a campus early alert and fever screening system which provides screening
of students’ healthcare status via facial recognition technology and contactless
body temperature. The system is able to detect and track a student’s body
temperature and alerting the student and management staff if the particular student
is experiencing fever or not wearing the mask. The team have completed the
system design, database design and system prototype based on user requirements
and analysis. The True positive rate or sensitivity on face recognition and detection
is 91%. While true positive rate or sensitivity on face status detection is 89%.
Based on the result, the overall score of the AFSS system is 4.32 out of 5.

Abstract

One of the things that separate successful people from the rest is how they value
time. Successful people use a time management system to keep their productivity
in check. TimeFlies is a system that allows companies and employees to manage
their task more efficiently. Companies can assign work directly to employees in
each department through this system and employees can receive their work orders
in a timely manner. Besides that, employees also can upload their completed work
into the system. TimeFlies implemented Pomodoro concept where the system
breaks the employee’s workday into 25 minutes chunks separated by five minutes
breaks. This function is helping the employees to focus and not get distracted to
any unnecessary things. Moreover, TimeFlies also provides the suggestions which
tasks the employees should prioritize and accomplish, based on the complexity and
urgency of the tasks. TimeFlies was built using Laravel as the front-end and
MySQL as the back-end. Based on the findings, 82% of our respondents are
agreed and satisfied with the effectiveness of TimeFlies in helping them to manage
their daily work tasks.

Abstract

There are four different types of cabin class in aircraft passenger seat, which is first class,
business, premium economy, and economy class. For the economy class passenger
seats, they have the least security onboard which leads to the thievery activities and
compromise the comfort level of the passenger. This is a major issue that will have a
significant influence on the industry and the community. Therefore, Aircraft Personal
Safety Compartment (APSC), a revolutionary method of protecting personal goods and
belongings in economy class seats while flying has been successfully designed and
developed. The APSC’s major goal is to provide an armrest with a compartment
equipped with locking device and mechanism for securing passenger personal items
onboard. APSC is made from various materials which is lightweight and equipped with
the solenoid lock which is programmed by Arduino Uno circuitry board. The solenoid lock
will be controlled using RFID technology and will unlock when the access card is tapped
and will remain locked if the access card is incorrect. Therefore, the APSC will be able to
lower the numbers for in-flight thief cases in economy class while introducing a new
degree of protection and enhance flying experience to the passengers.

THERMOELECTRIC GENERATOR (TEG) MODULE DESIGN FOR
COMBINED HEAT AND POWER (CHP) FROM INDUSTRIAL
WASTE HEAT

Muhammad Fairuz Remeli1, Wan Ahmad Najmi Wan Mohamed2, Nur Faranini Zamri3
UiTM Shah Alam, Malaysia
[email protected]
Abstract

In the sustainable energy agenda, thermoelectric generators (TEG) can be a central
technology for low-cost combined heat and power (CHP) systems, to meet Sustainable
Development Goals. TEG is a passive device that directly convert temperature difference
into electrical output by implementing the principle of Seebeck effect, without being
dependent on mechanical parts. Integration of TEG cells, heat pipes and heat sinks
produce a TEG module (TEM) for the recovering of medium-temperature streams while
generating electrical power. The unique design concept and performance evaluation is
presented in a bread-baking factory case study. A modular of 2 TEG cells is proposed in
the study where the system reached a waste heat recovery ratio of 15%. An optimization
analysis provides the major performance limiting factors where the cold-side flow
conditions, heat sink frontal area and copper block housing design are the contributing
factors in increasing the outputs from the TEG system. An improved TEM with 6 TEG
cells was designed and it increased the heat recovery ratio from an initial 15% to 38%.
Identification of these principle parameters would assist in effective designs of TEM
systems for industrial CHP. The TEM is developed specifically for industries with waste
heat sources, enabling the design to be commercially attractive across a wide range of
market and for any waste heat recovery targets. The marketability of this design is
dependent on these factors; Government regulations for industries to apply technologies
for higher energy efficiency and security, the achievable outputs and WHR recovery ratio
that influences the total savings and payback period, and awareness on environmental
thermal pollution effects leading to the importance of energy recovery efforts.

Abstract

The occurrence of flash flood in Malaysia has commonly associated to the poor drainage
function and system. The flow of rainfall with wastage is directed to the main drainage,
causing blockage and overflow, thus inefficient rainwater system. To improvise the
system in residential area, a pervious concrete pavement, which consists of cement,
water and coarse aggregate, is proposed to minimize the risk of flood by allow the
passage of rainwater through it porous texture. This can be implemented in the form of
block or pavement layer, which speed up the rainwater absorption to the bottom layer.
The pervious concrete has promising not only permeability, but as well as strength. For
improvisation, silica fume is incorporated to improve the interconnected void within the
materials. An experimental compression test has been conducted and shown 57%
increment of compressive strength after 14 days of curing. The result has proved that the
improvised pervious concrete block with silica fume is comparative to the normal
concrete pavement, lightweight and potentially to replace the conventional drainage
block. The application of this pervious concrete block in a large scale seems convincing
in the future.

Abstract

The study on the design and sizing method for installation of PV system has been
increasing. However, the current design techniques do not optimize PV design based on
sizing constraints in real application, such as rooftop space. Besides, designers need a
lot of time to prepare PV layouts. This project presents the development of the automated
design tool with rooftop space as a constraint for grid connected photovoltaic (GCPV)
system by using iterative method. The advantages of the proposed method are the
automated tool for PV system design, the simplicity, and the minimum design time
required. The sizing tool is developed to optimize PV system size and arrangement with
space constraint by using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). It is envisaged that the
idea of the developing a new supportive sizing tool can be useful in PV system design to
overcome the problem of space constraints on rooftop, and to minimize the design time
required before installation. The proposed tool can be further improved by considering
different rooftop shapes and the existence of objects on the rooftop, such as chimney,
skylight, and antenna. Besides, the implementation of artificial intelligence techniques and
image processing can further refine the proposed tool.

Abstract

The interest in the use of natural composites has increased significantly in recent years, especially in
ballistic fields. High strength, specific stiffness, low density, high-energy dissipation ability, and
fatigue resistance are desirable mechanical characteristics for structural materials. However, less
work has been done on using natural fiber reinforced plastic composites as energy absorbing
device. Therefore, in this work, the energy absorption response of the different weaving pattern of a
woven natural rattan/epoxy composite panel was investigated, which subjected to an axial quasi-

process. It also showed the low impact characteristics and the corresponding high-energy absorption
of the plain-woven samples pattern higher than the other samples shape.

Abstract
Malaysia has a lot of coastlines that is near with other country such as China, Philippines,
and Indonesia. Thus, area marking is important to avoid intrusion by the neighbouring
countries plus accidents will be more prone to occur due to vessels entering hazardous
area or diving spots. This Backward Bent Duct Buoy (BBDB) will help to prevent
casualties by becoming a more efficient marker which operates on wave energy that is
plentiful and available at the sea which is better than common buoy plus it will reduce
greenhouse gasses by being alternative for fossil fuel generator. The buoy is
manufactured with acrylic glass and the circuitry is connected in parallel with a generator,
an impulse turbine, LED and capacitor. After the tests, the wavelength of the wave over
width ratio of 4.5 is the most efficient and with this ratio we can design the buoy with the
best dimension for certain seas so it can be more efficient. This BBDB body can be
changed with stainless steel to endure the harshness of the sea and an electric cable will
be connected to transfer the energy. This technology called Backward Bent Duct Buoy
(BBDB) will help our country to maintain certain interest such as to improve capabilities of
our country to mark a certain area or to warn seafaring vessel about shore at night by
using the energy from the wave to power the signal lamp (electrical energy) on the buoy.
This technology can be useful, in sectors such as tourism, and defence in which the
technology can be used to mark area for divers or swimmers that is safe for them or help
us determine or mark a certain area within our coastline. Basically, this particular device
applies the Principle of Conservation of Energy which states that energy can't be created
nor be destroyed by converting wave energy to electrical energy with the concept of
BBDB. On a larger scale, this BBDB can be used to power up Forward Operating Bases
(FOB) at sea instead of fossil fuel generator. This technology is a step towards
developing green technology to save the environment in line with the world’s 7 The
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which is affordable and clean energy.

Abstract

The Versatile Personal Flotation Device (VPFD) project aims to redesign and improve a
life jacket from a standard life jacket to a multipurpose life jacket equipped with Global
Positioning System (GPS) sensor and a pulse rate sensor, which will assist individuals
who use it. This innovation is aimed primarily at flight passengers, but it may also be
utilized by search and rescue teams. This innovation idea is utilizing the GPS on the life
jacket to allow the search and rescue crew to make a maneuver while saving a significant
amount of time. In addition, this innovation can be used to trace the victims' exact location.
The pulse rate sensor is attached to the wrist loop so that it is always in contact with the
victim's skin and can distinguish between critical and normal sufferers by providing an
accurate pulse reading. LEDs flash according to the victims' condition based on pulse
reading. The use of solar panel in this innovation is highlighted as it can operate up to 10
hours. The VPFD is capable to obtain the survival heart rate reading and at the same time
the coordinate of the location through BLYNK application. As a result, the heart rate
sensor and the GPS on the VPFD were featured to help the search and rescue team to
get the real time data about the survivor's health condition and current location coordinate.
LED indicator was also built inside VPFD for the nearby people will notice the survivor
during dark time and also be able to indicate the health condition of survivors for
prioritizing in the rescue missions. Furthermore, based on questionnaires distributed to 52
respondents in which 92% of the respondents agreed that the newly fabricated VPFD can
reduce the search and rescue time operation and improve the safety, meanwhile 94%
respondents strongly satisfied with this new innovation.

Abstract
Lemang is a traditional food that is liked by everyone. Lemang are sold throughout the
year but more widespread during celebration day and festive seasons like Hari Raya
Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha in Malaysia. The traditional cooking method for lemang
has a few disadvantages in terms of work productivity. It needs a lot of manpower and
the consumption of fuel like charcoal that are not thorough will cook the lemang
unevenly. The objective of this project is to create a lemang automatic machine that can
be operated without requiring too much manpower and also it is capable to reduce the
combustion time to cook the lemang once compared to the manual burning method. This
machine can replace the manual method to cook lemang as it does not require too much
manpower to operate. Scope of this project is focusing on small entrepreneurs who want
to produce lemang in a short time and searching for affordable price machine. One of the
importance or benefits of this project is that is uses a more even combustion method. As
it can improve work productivity in terms of quality and this lemang machine can also
provide huge benefits to small entrepreneurs. It is portable, easy to use and saves time.
The main component used to build this machine is mild steel that comes with an
accessory like wheels for mobility to facilitate movement and produce a mobile machine.
Suggestions for improvement in future is to close the fire place to avoid loss of heat as
more lemang can be produce and the time taken to cook the lemang will be shorter and
place an adjustable fan to control the fire. Based on the results from the machine tests, it
is found out that a good quality and cooked evenly 10 lemang can be obtained in only
135 minutes compared to the manual method which takes a longer time to achieve the
same quality. Those test results proved that the automatic lemang machine able to save
the operating time and reduce the use of manpower compared to the manual method.

Abstract

People nowadays are likely to consume rather than conserve. There are several
renewable energies around us that has been neglected due to the resources. Thus, the
idea of a flying invention prototype that convert wind energy from the atmosphere upper
sky layer generate and convert it to electric power. Hence, it can spread awareness to
support Go Green Campaign and also provided better future for the newer generations.
This project develops a flying invention prototype that utilizes wind energy which are
narrow to a small scale experiment scale setup. Furthermore, it is focusing on applying
the mechanical science for renewable energy sources, which can generate electricity by
the natural sources even in small amount of voltage supply. By having a good
mechanical structure and sturdy fundamental, this Inter-Stellar the Wind Breaker
prototype setup will surely prove on how the science applied and save the energy supply
on our daily life.

alam sekitar.
