한인교회 주일학교 교육자료 모음 집을 재편집하며...

지난 3월 영락교회에서 있었던 KASSCON '97（이민교회 교사 컨퍼런스）은 교육사역뿐 아니
라 이민교회 역사에 새로운 장을 여는 놀라운 행사가 되었습니다. 남가주룹 중심으로 미국
전 지역에서 1^명이 넘는 주일학교 교사, 2세교육 사역 자들이 모여서 21세기를 바라보는
한인교회에 주어진 가장 중요하고도 심각한 과제-2세신앙교육에 관한 전반적인 내용과 방
법을 나누는 의미 있고 유익한 시간 이였습니다. 특히 많은 분들의 관심을 끌었던 것은 남
가주 6개교회（나성 영락교회，나성 한인교회, 남가주사랑의교회, 동양선교교회, 베델한안교회,
충현선교교회）의 교육부서 자료를 모아 편집한 “교육자료집” 이였습니다. 중소한언교회에
실제적인 도움이 될 수있는 Sample들을 모아 편집한 이 자료집은 의외의 관심과 주문의 쇄
도률 받았습니다. 이에 저회 남가주교육목사회에서는 이러한 이민교육자료집외 필요롤 절
감하고 좀더 광범위하고 유익한 교육자료집을 재편하게 되었습니다.

이 교육자료집에는 남가주에서 오랜 기간을 교육사역에 투자하고 힘써온 여러 교회률 선정
하여 그 교회들의 특징적인 자료둘을 모아서 하나로 묶어 보았습니다. 각 교회마다 실정과
환경이 다르기에 이 자료의 적용에는 어느 정도의 조정이 필요하겠지만，근본적으로 같은
이민교회의 자료라는 점에서 활용 성을 찾아볼 수 있으리라 생각됨니다. 톡히 이번께 새로
이 편집하면서 중소 교회에서 실제적으로 활용할 수 있는 면에 특별히 초점을 맞추어 성공
적인 중고교회의 자료들올 수집하여 보강하였습니다.

바라기는, 이 조그마한 자료가 섬기시는 교회의 2세 사역에 조금이나마 도움이 될 수 있기
를 원합니다. 이 자료집을 통한 수입은 이민교회 2세교육을 위한 연구와 사역에、과아질 것
입니다. 귀 교회의 2세사역에 주님의 사랑과 인도하심이 함께 하시기를 기원 드립니다.

•유년주일학교， < >

유년주일학교는 유아부，유체，유년부로 나뉘이 있습니다. 유 Z

아부는 1-3세까지며 아늑한 놀이공^F 준비된 교재를 가지고 신앙교육 나

옴 시키고 있습니다. “ y e:냐

유치부는 4-6세까지며 여러 가지 유익한 시청직?여^료들을 사용하

여 아이돌이 재미있게 성경공부를 할수 있도록 배려하고'있습니다.

유년부는 7-11 세까지며 재미있는，노래와율동, 五리고 은혜스러운

예배시간음 통해 어려서부터『 교:화안에서 의미있고 추익에 남을수 있는

시간들올 많이 제공하고 있습나다，

연중행사로는 매년 8월에 .따름성경학교를 실시하고 있습니다.

.중고등부•

중고등부에서는 예배와 찬양을 통해 하나님을 경힘하게 하머 금

요제자훈련모임을 통해 그리스도의 지식을 넓히는 교육을 하고 있습니

다.
연중행사로서는 7월에 학생의 밤과 일년에 두 빈씩 이름과 겨울

에 수련회를 가지고 있습니다. 이 외에도 '겨자씨’라는 회지책을 매년
발행하고 있으며 추수감사절 연휴를 이용 노숙자들올 위한 접대 프로
그램도 실시하고 있습니다.

•대학부*

대학부에서는 학생들의 신앙성숙을 위하이 다양한 프로그램을 가
지고 사역을 하고 있습니다. 찬양사역, 학부형 세미나사역，이름단기신

교사역, 선교대회 등등을 통해 하나님께서 이들에게 보여주신 비전을
이루어 나가며 하나님께 영광을 돌리고 있습니다.

또한 하나님의 아들을 믿는 것과 아는 일에 충실하고자 금요제자
훈련 교재인 “하나님을 경험하는 삶”을 통하여 예수님을 아는 지식에
서 예수님을 경힘하고 그 분을 닮아가는 얼린교육을 실시하고 있습니

다.

•청년부，

청년부에서는 각자의 은사를 활용하여 교회를 섬기개 하고 봉사
의 일올하게하여 그리스도의 몸을 세우는 데 힘쓰고 있습니다. 그들의
은사와 재능을 활용 교회학교 및 이중언어교사직 등 많은 사역의 기회
를 제공하고 있습니다.

•한글학교，

해브론 한글하교에서는 97년도 교육목표를 “우리말과 글과 풍습
> 뇨 을 해1우는 해”로 정하고 다음과 같은 교육방침을 가지고 운영하고 있

• 어와나 •

어와나란 (AWANA) 디모데후서 2:15에 “부끄러울 것이 없는 인
징된 일꾼” (**Approved Workmen Are Not 스shamecF)의 영이 첫 글자를
따라 지은 명칭입니다.

1950년 미국 시카고 근교에서 시작한 어와나는 흥미로운 개임과
특벌한동과 같은 이린 학생돌이 건전하게 즐길수 있는 프로그램올 가
지민서 성경암송과 말씀안에서의 교제에 이 사역의 초점을 맞추고 있
습니다.

지희 교회에서는 우선 유치부에서 부터 유년부 6학년학생들올 위
해 매 주일 오후 1:30분부터 약 1시간 30분동안게임과 핸드북 시간, 그
리고 말씀시간으로 나누어 어와나클럽 사역을 하고 있습니다.

연중행사로는 어와나 올림픽과 성경 암송퀴즈대회가 있습니다.

• PTA학부형모임 •

매원 둘째 주일에는 학부형들을 위한 모임이 있습니다. 보다 더
나은 신앙교육과 인격교육올 위해 부모님들을 교육하고 새로운 학교정
보들을 제공하는 모임입니다.

•교육부부장모임•

매월 셋째 주일에는 각부부서 부장들이 모여 전 달 행사보고와
다음 달에 있을 게외들을 의논하고 기도하는 모임이 있습니다. 교육부
의 발진을 위해 새로운 의견들이 제시되며 각부 부서들의 활성화를 위
해 돕는 모임입니다.

羊리 주님께서는 잃이비린 영혼들을 구원하시려 이 세상에 오섰으며
(마 1:21) 구원받은 잉혼들올 말씀과 사랑으로 양육하시고 치료하섰으
미 (마 4:23) 그 양육된 영혼들을 과송한 사건이 (마 28:19-20) 바로 사
복유서에 기록된 에수님의 사역이라고 볼수 있겠습니다.

이같은 우리 주님의 사역을 본받아 저희 헤브론장로교회 교회하교의

THE HPC YOUTH GROUP CONSTITUTION

SECTION 1. BY LAW

item 1. We shall base our faith on the traditional Westminster's

item 2. biblical point of view.
Our main purpose is to be the light and salt of the world,
item 3. guided by the new reformational faith.
The following shall be our guidelines：
item 4. 3.1 Spreading God’s words to our neighbors and aid
Korean-American churches with the same point of view.
3.2 Spreading God's words to the world and aid world churches
with the same point of view.
The following are our main objectives：

SECTION 2. YOUTH GROUP TITLE

item 5. Our group shall be called the Hebron Presbyterian Church Youth
item 6. Group (Here and on, it shall be called the youth group).
The purpose of this youth group is to do the Lord*a work based
on the standard of the bylaw. The group adheres to the
Christian faith, which is biblical and gospel-oriented, and
promotes education, service, and mission. The goal is in
three-fold： (1) soul-saving, (2) soul-shepherding, (3)
soul-sending.

SECTION 3. MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

item 7. Youth group shall have 7th-12th graders as its members, and
only for those who have shown willingness to participate in
item 8. the youth group activities and have participated in the youth
item 9. group for the last six months before the election.
Youth group members shall have the right to speak, vote, and to
be voted as one of the cabinet members.
Youth group members shall keep the Lord's Day, give offerings
to the Lord, participate in all the activities that were agreed
upon during the monthly meeting.

SECTION 4. STUDENT COUNCIL

iten 10. The candidate for the cabinet must be baptized and have
item 11. participated in the youth group activites including the Bible
iten 12. study at least during the period of the last six monthes
before the election.
Youth group's cabinet members shall consist one president, one
vice president, one general secretary, one treasurer, and one
secretary.*
The folotting shall be the duties of the respective cabinet

members：

12.1 President： The president shall represent the youth group

and be a chair person on any youth group meetings.

12.2 Vice President： The vice president shall aid the

president and shall take over all the duties of the president

in case of his/her absence. He/She shall also oversee the

representatives.

12.3 General Secretary： The general secretary shall lead the

group activities and shall take over all the duties of the

president in case of president's and vice president's absence.

He/She shall also oversee the activity managers.

12.4 Treasurer： The treasurer shall control all the fiscal

matters of the youth group.

12.5 Secretary： The secretary shall keep all the official

youth group records. •

item 13. The youth group shall have the following activity groups and
their respective activities are as follows：
13.1 Worship： This group shall coordinate all the matters
involving the worship service.

13.2 Music： This group shall coordinate all the musical events
and activities of the youth group.
13.3 Fellowship： This group shall coordinate all the youth
group fellowship activities.
13.4 Publishing： This group shall coordinate and keep all the
published material of the youth group.
13.5 Communication： This group shall coordinate all matters
concerning communications, advertisements, and promotions.

item 14. The youth group shall have the following representatives who
represent their class：

14.1 7th & 8th： This class shall have onerepresentative.
14.2 9th & 10th: This class shall have onerepresentative.
14.3 11th & 12th：This class shall have onerepresentative.
14.4 The term shall be six months.

SECTION 5. ELECTION AND TERMS

item 15. The youth group's election procedures are as follows：

15.1 Presidential candidates must receive first and second
nomination. The presidential candidate shall be chosen for
the next term if he/she receives 2/3 of the attending votes.
15.2 Run off shall be held if needed and the highest voter
getter shall be chosen as the youth group president for 匕he
next term.

15.3 Other cabinet officers shall be chosen by the similar
method, except it requires majority of the attending votes,
rather than 2/3.

15.4 All the activity managers for the new term shall be
chosen by the newly elected cabinet members.
15.5 All the representatives shall be appointed by

president.

item 16. All the cabinet members and group activity manager's term
shall be one school year and they can be re-elected and hold
upto two terms.

item 17. If an officer resigns with a legitimate reason, then the above
procedures will be followed in an emergency election.

SECTION 6. GENERAL MEETINGS

item 18. The youth group shall have the following meetings*
18.1 General Election： General election shall be held on the
first Sunday of August and requires 2/3 of the youth group

member*s attendance.
18.2 Emergency Election： Emergency election shall be held on a
need basis with the consent of the majority of the cabinet
members.
18.3 Monthly Meeting： Monthly meeting shall be held on the
first Sunday of each month and shall report the previous
month's activities and discuss the upcoming events.
18.4 Cabinet Meeting： This meeting shall be held on the last

Sunday of each month and shall be called by the president and
shall plan all the upcoming youth group events.
18.5 Managers* Meeting: This meeting shall be called by the

general secretary once a month and shall discuss each group's
upcoming activities.
18.6 Representatives* Meeting: This meeting shall be called
by the vice president.

SECTION 7. FINANCE

item 19. The youth group's finance shall be funded by their membership
fee, donation, fund raising, and aid from the church. Emergency
fund can be raised with the approval of the cabinet members
and 2/3 of agreeing votes during the next monthly meeting,

item 20. Any youth group's expenses must be approved by the cabinet
members. However, exceptions can be granted in case of
emergency, but this，too, must receive the post-approval.

SECTION 8. AMENDMENT

item 21. If the youth group wants to amend any of the items in the
constitution, it can do so by the approval of 2/3 of attending
members during the general election. However, Section 1 cannot
be amended.

item 22. Any amended items shall be effective starting current general
election and must be reported to the church government.

1995 VISION

NURTURING through RELATIONSHIPS

he new vision statement for 1995 is "Nurturing through Relationships." I want

Tthis year to be a year of packing in what has been gathered. Now that we have a
good core group that is ardently working toward the future, let's focus on
developing the small group ministry. As our Sunday attendance skirts the 200 range I have
sensed the greater need to effectively touch each and everyone's life. That is difficult even
on a one-to-one basis. Imagine dealing with 200+ people who come in and out of our
ministry. God has impressed in my mind that one of the most effective ways for spiritual
growth is through small group ministries. Genuine life transformations occur most
expediently in the small group setting. Discipleship, Sunday small group Bible studies,
ministry committees, and various other accountability groups can really foster dynamic
growth. Therefore, the focus of Bethel College Ministry for the year 1995 is spiritually
nurturing the college people of Cod through christocentric relationships.

PHILOSOPHY

Approach

As the college pastor of Bethel College Ministry I approach the congregation
with the greatest respect, awe and humility before the Lord. As many of our
young people commit their lives for the Lord there can be no telling what
we can do in the Lord. Of all the age groups, college age people are the
most dynamic and exciting people to serve. There is excitement that comes
from their innocence and availability. Their intellect as well as faith can be
greatly challenged. If the students can grab hold of the right vision of serving
the Lord, they will be the most dynamic age group of the body of Christ. Furthermore, the entire
future of our universal church depends upon the fruition of these young people's lives. May the Cod
of all peace abundantly equip us to faithfully serve Him with all of our might.

Bddy

Bethel College Ministry is a part of Bethel Korean Church, fully linked and supported by the main
congregation. The college group belongs in the educational department of the church. We uphold
all theological adherence and policies of the main congregation as prescribed in the church
constitution. The college ministry will follow and coordinate with the rest of the church in its
ministry programming as a part of the local church family. All ministries of the college group are
accountable to the main congregation as we strive to serve the body of Christ.

Mission

Due to the transitory nature of college students, we will attempt to best serve by training students for
the universal church while they attend college and afterwards. This ministry can be best explained
by a mill house analogy, "Raw material in, finished product out." Our goal is to equip each and
every student, who faithfully participates in the ministry, to be a mature, responsible citizen of the
kingdom of Cod by the time he/she finishes his/her undergraduate education. Regular weekly
ministry meetings and special programs are geared for the sole purpose of ministering to college
students.

Organization

Our entire ministry will be operated and governed by the student leaders under the supervision of
the college pastor and other ministry coordinators. College students are more than capable of
organizing and executing all of the pertinent ministries. The entire college ministry will be delegated
to each congregational member to maximize one’s talents for the Lord. The ministry organizational
chart will serve as the guide for the structure of the ministry. This style of ministry absolutely
mandates godly teamwork. As long as it is possible healthy cooperation among the faithful servants
will be expected at all levels of the ministry.

Statement of Mission
and Objectives of Ministry

As the children's pastor of Bethel Korean Church I believe the three나old ministry is worship,
which is directed upward to God; discipleship, which is directed inward to the body; and evangelism,
which is directed outward to the world.

I believe further that this three-fold ministry is as valid for children as it is for adult公 and there­
fore establish the following objectives for 必children of Bethel Korean ChurcH

Worship: That the child will: z

Participate in a variety worship experiences
In age level groupings where the worship will be designed to match the intrest and
attention span of the child
In personal daily devotion公 Bible reading and prayer.

Understand that worship involves our allegiance to God in the stewardship of time, talents, and posses­
sions.
Identify and use his of her Spiritual gifts in the context of church body life as it applies to the child.
Confess Je^us Christ as his or her Lord and Savior as the definitive act of worship.

_^>WCipleship: That the child will:
Participate in a variety of learning experiences which will guide the child into a greater knowledge and
imderstanding of the nature of God the Person and work of Jesus, and the role of Ae Holy Spirit in
Aeir lives.
Be involved with different discipling and teaching ministries where he or she will be nurture소 discipled
and equipped with the Word of God.

Evangelism: That 仕ie child will:

Know the plan of Salvation in terms appropriate to the age of the child.
Be ready and willing to share his or her faith in Christ and the plan of Salvation to his or her peers.
Demonstrate an understanding of Ae Great Commision to .Go into all the world and preach the ^Gospel

목적지가 없는 여행은 무료합니다. 우리는 이것올 “나그네 길이다”라고 이야기합니다. Final
Product에 대한 생각이 없이 시작되는 설계도가 아무 쓸모가 없듯이 무슨 일이든지 목적과 목
표가 불분명할 때 우리는 효과적일 수가 없습니다. 기독교 교육도 마찬가지입니다. 우리는 기
독교 교육이란 중요한 명제를 놓고 “무엇을 위하여?”라는 질문과 “왜?”라는 질문, 그리고
“어떻게?”라는 질문올 신중하게 던질 필요가 있습니다. 그리고 그 질문의 답들이 우리의 사
역과 열매를 평가할 수 있게 됩니다.

그러면 나성영락교회의 교육목표는 무엇입니까 ?
그리고 그 목표들을 위하여 교육부는 무엇을 어떻게 하고 있습니까?

I . 나성영락교회 교육부의 비전《Vision): 미scipleship(제자도》

Vision이 없는 민족은 망한다고 했습니다. 그리고 참된 vision은 하나님에게서 나와야 합니다. 그
러므로 vision은 하나님의 눈으로 하나님의 기대를 보는 것입니다. 그리고 그것이 우리에게 간절
한 마옴과 사명으로 다가올 때 우리는 이것을 our vision 이라고 합니다. 그렇다면 나성영락교회
교육부를 바라보는 하나님의 기대와 우리의 사명감은 무엇일까요? 이것을 한 단어로 표현한다면
“Discipleship(제자도)” 일 것입니다.

“제자도”라는 단어가 요즘 자주 사용되먼서도 쉽게 잘못 이해되고 있습니다.
제자란 “배우는 자(learner)"란 뜻입니다. 그러나 그는 단순히 지식을 전달받는 학생이 아니라 스
승과 같이 살면서 스숭의 인격과 가치관，세상관，인생관둥 삶 자체롤 배우는 자를 말합니다. 그
러므로 그리스도의 제자란 단순히 성경을 교육받는 것이 아니라 성경대로，주님의 모든 것들을
배우며 주님의 가치관을 가지고 사는 그런 인생올 말하는 것입니다. 즉 주님을 닮아가는 삶，바
로 그가 제자입니다. 우리는 우리의 모든 학생들이 주님을 닮아가기 원합니다. 그래서 나성영락
교회 교육부의 비전은 이렇게 외칩니다. ”모든 학생들을 그리스도의 제자로.”

n. WHY DISCIPLESHIP?

첫째는 하나님의 명령이기 때문입니다. 주께서 우리로 제자가 되라하셨고 제자를 만들라고 하
셨습니다(마태 28:19-20) 주님의 말씀에 순종하는 것입니다.

들째는 변화(Transf이"mation)가 목적이기 때문입니다. 변화가 없는 교육은 기독교 교육이 될 수
없습니다. 우리의 삶의 목적과 가치가 주님의 것으로 바뀌어져야 하는데 “제자도”는 그 변화
를 가능케 합니다.

셋째는 우리의 자녀들이 험악한 세상에서 승리하는 유일한 길은 그리스도께 온전히 붙잡힌바 된
삶이어야만 하기 때문입니다. 점점 더 세상은 악해가고 교육은 점점 더 어려워집니다. T.V. 등의
미디어(Media)가 우리 자녀들을 그들의 악한 가치관으로 제자훈련올 시키고 있는 실정입니다. 부
모가 자녀를 죽이고 자녀가 부모를 살해하는 말세에 살고 있습니다. 이것에서부터의 숭리는 어
려서부터 그리스도의 가치관과 인생관이 가정과 교회에서부터 잘 가르쳐지지 아니하면 어려움을
느끼게 됩니다.

m. 교육원적《3 Principles)

1. 그리스도가 중심되신 교육(Chrsit Centered)
예수 그리스도가 우리의 모든것이 되십니다. 주님이 없는 교회 교육은 변화시키는 능력이 없
습니다. 에수 그리스도가 중심이 되시고 우리의 모든 가르침이 주님께로 부터 홀러나오고 주
님께로만 고정되어져야 합니다.

2. 성경이 중심되는 교육 (Bible Based)
그 주님을 제일 잘 아는 길이 곧 성경，하나님의 말씀입니다. 성경은 우리 인생의 최고의 권
위가 되시며 인생의 척도(Measurement)가 되십니다. 다론 어떤 Program도 성경의 권위와
중요성보다 더 우선될 수 없습니다.

3. 하나님의 마음을 배우는 교육(Mission Minded)
하나님의 마음은 영혼들을 향한 간곡한 사랑입니다.
그리고 이것은 강경한 명령입니다(마태 28:19,2이 우리의 삶에서의 중인의 삶，빛과 소금의
삶을 살라고 하십니다. 그리고 이것은 특별한 소명이나 Option이 아닙니다. 우리 모두에게
주신 거룩한 사명입니다.

IV. 교육프로그램《5 Programs)

그러면 “제자도”의 목적을 가지고 3가지의 교육원칙에 의하여 어떻게 교육해야 할까요? 5가지의
중요하고도 기본적인 프로그램을 통하여 이루워지기를 노력하고 있습니다.

1) 성경교육(Bible Education)

가장 기본적이면서도 가장 중요한 교육입니다. 교육부의 각 에배때마다 교육부의 모든 교역
자들이 기도 가운데 최선을 다해 하나님의 말씀을 강론하고 있고 교회학교 교사도 계속된
훈련과 교사교실등을 통해 최고의 Quality를 가지고 성경커리큘럼올 따라서 사랑과 관심가
운데 체계적으로 학생들을 가르치고 있습니다. V.B.S. 둥을 포함한 수양회들이 일년에 2번씩
가져 말씀을 깊이 공부하여 큰 은해를 나누고 있고 부흥회도 일년에 한번씩 하고 있습니다.
학생들의 필요에 따른 많은 세미나가 진행되어지고 있으며 그밖에 리더십훈련과 제자훈련
그름등이 이루어 지고 있습니다.

2) 가정 교육(Family Education)

참된 교육의 가장 큰 책임은 가정이고 교회는 하나님이 창조하신 가정이 하나님의 뜻대로
화목하면 축복이 되도록 가르쳐야 할 책임이 있습니다. 자녀들의 교육은 부모교육으로 부터
시작되며 부모의 변화는 곧 자녀듭의 변화입니다. 매년 청소년부모교실이 있고 아동부모교실
이 있습니다. 조부모(할머니 • 할아버지) 교실이 있고 특히 이번 여름에는 아버지와 아들，어
머니와 딸의 수양회가 준비되고 있습니다. P.T.A. 조직올 통하여 부모님들이 교사와 교회를
적극적으로 돕고 있으며 전체교회 Family Night 에배와 매주일 가정에배를 적극 장려하고
있습니다.

3) 선교교육(Mission Education)

하나님의 마옴은 모든 사람들이 에수를 믿고 구원 받기를 원하며 이 마음올 사랑의 복음으
로 전해야 하는 책임을 우리에게 주셨습니다. 선교교육은 모두가 다 선교사가 되라는 교육은
아닙니다. 그러나 성경은 우리 모두가 다 그리스도의 중인이 되라고 가르칩니다. 어려서부터
주님 모르는 다른 영혼들을 불쌍히 여기는 주님의 마음을 가르치고 남을 사랑하는 것을 강
조합니다. 여롬 전도단에 매년 많이 나가고 있고 또 부서별로 돌아가면서 티화나선교를 하고
있습니다. 여러 전도집회를 통하여 전도할 수 있도록 격려하고 그들을 위하여 기도하도록 교
육하고 있습니다.

4) 전인 교육(Wholistic Education)

바론 신앙교육은 신앙의 생활화를 가르칩니다. 그러므로 주일날 교회에서의 신앙이 주중의
우리의 삶에 연결되어져야 합니다, 기독교 교육은 전인적인 교육입니다. 지식이나 Doing을
가르치는 것보다 모든 면에서 성숙한 인격의 Being올 가르칩니다. 주님과의 바론 관계가 우
리 자녀의 사회적 • 관계적 • 감정적 . 지식적 • 인 모든면에서 잘 조화와 균형을 이루는 전인
교육입니다. 그러므로 성경의 진리가 우리의 삶의 현실에서 부딛치는 많은 문제들에게 어떻
게 적용되며 실천되어지는가가 중요합니다. 이같은 삶의 적용과 생활화가 강조되고 있습니
다.

5) 뿌리교육(Roots Education)

하나님 안에서의 자아발견(Identity)은 인격의 성숙에 있어서 매우 중요합니다. 저회 교회는
한국과 미국의 장점을 조화시킨 하나님 나라의 시민으로 한국의 신앙의 전통과 미덕을 가르
치는 뿌리교육을 실시하고 있습니다.
토요일마다 영 락한국학교를 통하여 여 러 과목들을 교육합니 다. 주일날 한글반이 있습니 다.
정말 우리 자녀들이 Korean Anicrican Christian으로서의 바른 Identity를 갖도록 교육하고
있습니다.

V. S는 말

하나님께서는 특별한 은혜로 1973년 3원에 저희교회를 창립하시고 그동안 많은 성장을 통하여
귀한 사역들을 감당케 하셨습니다. 특히 감사한 것은 저회교회가 교육과 2세들에 대하여 많온

노력과 관심이 있다는 사실입니다. 일미기 박광자전도사님의 14년간의 지속적인 교육부의 섬김이
있었고 또 그동안의 많은 훌륭한 교익자와 평신도 리더들이 마음과 정성을 쏟아 놓는 열정과 수
고가 있었습니다. 그래서 저희 교육부를 통하여 훌륭한 하나님의 인격체들이 많이 배출되어 온
것을 압니다. 물론 우리가 씨를 뿌리고 물을 주었지만 자라게 하시는 이는 하나님이신 것도 기억
합니다. 그리고 그런 주님을 찬양하고 감사드립니다. 지금도 저회 교육부에 1600여명의 하나님의
자녀들이 성장하고 있습니다. 그들은 한영혼 한영혼 다 너무나도 귀한 자들입니다. 그들은 우리
의 회망이요 미래이요 기도제목입니다. 바로 이들이 그리스도의 장성한 분량에 자라도록 가르치
는 책임을 우리에게 주셨습니다. 어느 때보다도 더욱 더 바론 말씀의 교육이 절실히 필요한 때입
니다. 이 귀한 책임의 완수롤 위하여 두렵고 떨리는 마옴으로 사랑하는 우리의 자녀들을 위하여
지속적이고도 간절한 기도의 무릎을 꿇지 않으시겠습니까?

When I look back on my Christian journey there were numerous Divine Encounters that affected me tremen-
dously.Those moments weremore than just emotional experiences but life-changing ones. While I was attending
a small church in my early teen years, I dedicated my life to the Lord. It happened somewhere in the middle of a
desert in Palm Springs. I was an immature, insecure and fobbish teenager, not knowing why I ended up in a for­
eign land. Unconvinced of my parents* explanation that we moved to America for better education, I became silent­
ly bitter and confused. Then, God visited my life. I don’t even remember who the speaker was and can't recall my
friends1 names who were there with me but I have a clear memory of kneeling before God and surrecdering my life
to Him. Thafs an experience I will never forget. Few years later, OMC was hosting Come to Me. Along with hun­
dreds of other high school kids I responded to the call and repeatedly asked God to forgive my sins. I remember
those tears I coundln*t control. Another life-transforming moment. As these encounters increased I was sure of
the reality of Jesus in my life. While I was “partying” at a Christian heavy metal concernt hosted by Calvary Chapel
I was confronted by God as a Swedish Rock Band leader shared his testimony. These are truly divine-encountered
I had during my teen years. The experiences I had convinced me that Jesus was real and I needed to make a deci­
sion to let Him be the Master of my life.

There*s no doubt that everyone has his or her own special moments where God’s touch became real and per­
sonal. We all cherish those precious moments in heart heart. Especially during adolescent years God*s voice seem
more clear and loud. Ifs our goal as OMC Staff members to be agents who aid each teenagers to be touched by
His nail-scarred hands.

Students struggle with the reality of spiritual life because they haven’t experienced it fully. Our aim is to help
them to experience and understand the REALITY of CHRIST and to challenge them to allow the Master to pos­
sess them. Once an individual tastes the love of Christ, he/she will always long for Christ to quench the thirst cre­
ated by sin. As Christ enters a teen’s life, He will create a new life out of old.

Then, how do we, as OMC staff, make this process possible ? Whafs our mission ? We will focus on four
essential values of Christ-centered-life. We will helpd each students to Know, Grow, Serve and Share Christ. We
function as witnesses and will testify for our Lord. We testify of His love and grace so that a teen, regardless of his
past and present condition, will also surrender his life and follow Christ. Thafs our mission !

Goal of OMC Youth Ministry for 1997

OMC Ybuth Ministry experienced different stages of youth ministry during last few years. Unitl 3 years ago, it con­
tained traditional model of youth ministry where four different departments working independently of each other
within one larger department. The departments were divided by age, service time, and preference of language
used. They were : jr. high dept” sr. high dept., 3rd service, and Korean dept. Although 4 different department gave
their best efforts to reach out to students, there few problems with disunity caused by incompatible philosophy and
competitiveness of each department. Each department had separate leaders (4 youth pastors, 3 elders, 4 dea­
cons in charge, and general secretary who were in charge of operations. The traditional model has its strength and
also weaknesses.

Strength :
* Easier to keep track of kids
* More unity within each dept.
* Ownership of each department
* Works well with part-time youth workers

Weaknesses :

• * No accountability among each other

* Waste of resources
’ Disunity within Ed./Ybuth department
* Competitiveness

* Incompatible Philosophy of Ministry

* Limited to smaller, traditional events/programs due to the lack of resources

* Misuse of diversity

* No opportunity to train leaders who can get exposed to different areas of ministry

Above considerations were reviewd and OMC began the explore new structures. Since 1993, OMC youth were
able to take the opportunity to reformat the structure. There were mistakes and failures but successful programs
and systems were developed. The goal is to learn from the past, keep the ones that will continue to be effective,
and throw away ones that has no impact on current ministry setting.

Our goal is to understand the changing youth culture and present Jesus Christ and his life-changing messages to
teenagers of 90’s. The goal will remain the same - reaching teenagers with life-changing messages of Jesus Christ
but the methods will vary in order to achieve the goal. The methods will include various forms of programs and
events that will be relevant to where students are today.

CHMC EDUCATION DEPT. / PURPOSE AND MINISTRY

PURPOSE OF EDUCATION

The purpose of the Education Department at Choong Hyun Mission Church
is to teach and raise the children to be a people of God who pursue
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness, who fight the
good fight, lay hold on eternal life, and who confess the good confession
in the presence of many witnesses (1 Timothy 6:11-12).

HL AIMS IN EDUCATION

A. Worship

The center of Church education is worship. Worship is thanking God for all
the good things He has given us, giving Him honor, and showing obedience
before His presence by allowing our will to be that of His will. Church
education will be undermined if we are not able to give our heart to God
and recognize God's love and grace through worship. Each department
should give worship priority and make every effort to prepare for the
worship service so that students will experience a personal relationship with
Christ.

1. Before the worship service, there must be a teacher's prayer
meeting

2. Make preparations for the worship before the hour, i.e., set
up chairs, set the room temperature, prepare offering baskets
and microphone, etc.

3. Teachers should usher the students to the chairs with a smile.
4. Teachers need to remember that they are models during

worship. Students learn to worship by observing the teacher's
worship.

B. Bible

Sunday School is a place where the Bible is taught. Only the Word of God
can show the children the way of salvation and mold their character. For this
reason each departments should strive to teach the Word of God effectively.
The Word of God is alive and is the Word of life. Let us not allow our
education to be that of where the children simply sit and passively listen to
what we say. We need to educate the children so that they will actively
listen to the le父ons, be motivated to search the Bible for answers to
practical problems in their life and thereby help them to obey the Word of
God. In order to realize this goal, we need to have programs which
encourages Quite Time and memorizations of the Word, and continuous
follow up and encouragement from the teachers.

1. Department ministers, Head teachers, and teachers will make
opportunities and / or programs to encourage students to read
the Bible. Teachers will check the Bible reading and
memorization on an individual level.

2. Teachers will be faithful in preparing lessons for effective

teaching.

C. Practice

Sunday School should teach life applications of the faith. Students should
learn to obey the Word of God. Education within the Sunday School should
be where children will internalize the Christian values in their youth
influencing their every aspect of life, and thus becoming the salt and light of
the worid. Children can learn from their youth of time management, money
management, and using their talent for the good and experience the joy of
serving. However, in many cases, it is the teachers who plan, execute, and
give thanks for the activities. It is the students who should experience these
aspects of Christian service. An ideal Christian education would teach the
students to learn to serve others in the body of Christ.

1. Students should be taught to clean the room after each
worship, Bible Study, or any type of meeting.

2. Teachers would incorporate the help of the students for

preparing for worship and other activities helping them to
develop their different talents.
3. Each department will plan activities once or twice a year for
church service and /or community service (i.e.z church
cleaning, street cleaning, visit or serve elderly rest homes or
other community organizations).

D. Fellowship

Christian education involves building the Body of Christ. Although cultures
and environments may differ for each people, when we confe父 ]esus Christ
as our Lord, we are one in the Body of Christ. "Koinonia"(fenowship) is
important for this purpose. The entire Body of Christ is strengthened as the
people of God learn to have true fellowship with one another by being
joyful with those who are joyful, mourning with those who mourn, and
accepting each other as they are. Christian education will incorporate
programs which will help teach the children to experience this type of
fellowship.

1. Preparation for fellowship must satisfy the needs of the
students. If students cannot have fellowship within the church,
they will seek the wordly ways of meeting with other students

2. Departments should plan programs which will be wholesome
and help students spend time valuably.

3. Fellowship should be built upon the Christian principles.

£ Mission

God's heart is mission. His plan is to reach the world with His love through
the church. We need to teach children to have the heart of God toward
mission and go to the worid with the love of God.

1. Each departments will work with the church's mission
organization (i.e., send letters to missionaries, mission
field picture presentations, saving for missions, etc.

2. Plan and execute short term mission programs.

F. Education to Strengthen our Roots

Unlike others, students within the immigrant church live within a dual
society, and experience many difficulties. They are neither Korean nor
"American”, and some may be lost between the two. They experience the
American culture outside the home and Korean culture inside the home.
Therefore it is important to find personal identity in Christ. Christian
education within the Korean churches need to help the children to
successfully blend both positive cultures so that they may be effective
workers and leaders for the Kingdom of God.

교육위원획는 다움 장에 나열 되어있는 9개외 부서와 7개외 특수

Korean-American Church
Our church recognizes the significance and special will of God
for the Korean-Aserican church. All plans by the coraittee
will be based on this recognition and will reflect bilingual/
bi cultural aspect. We shall take pride in the citizenship in
heaven as well as our Korean heritage for it*s God*s providence

Comunity Ministry and World Mission
We recognize the duty of local church in a comunity. We also
are sensitive about our responsibility to participate in the
world mission. It is loportant to educate our students about
the needs and our duties in comaunity service and the world-
■ission. The education prograas will include cowuntty and
world aission oriented seminars and activities. The students
will be expected to take active roles in both the comunity
ministry and the world mission.

Departments of the Coimittee
The Education Com!ttee consists of 9 departments and 7 special
programs. The comnittee targets on the people from nursery to
college, correspondingly aged between 0 to 23. A systefflatic
curriculua will be made to ensure a meaningful and effective
flow through the departments.

교육부 목회 궁극적 비존:
“자라나는 소년 소녀 청소년들에게 교회학교의 영적인 가르침과
인상깊은 학생모임 그리고 거룩한 삶을 살아기기 위한 멧세지를 전하고
그리스도께 인도하여 기독교의 근본 원리를 이들에게 심어주는 것을

목회 비즌으로 삼는다.“

교육부 목회의 목적 (Mission):

"지역 상회의 학생들을 가능한 한 많이 전도하여 하나님의
은혜의 복음을 뜯게하여 그리스도를 자신의 구세주로 영접할 수 있는
기회를 마련해주고, 아울러 지도자 양성，봉사, 전도하는 것을 통해 복음을

전하는 책임을 갖추도록하는 것이다.“

텔 교육부의 근본 신앙

첫째로，은혜의 복음을 가르친다.

베델 교육부에서는 우리의 죄가 말끔히 사함을 받은 갈보리에서 이루어진 사건
에 그 중심을 두고 있다. 구원받기 위해서는 자기 죄 값이 영원히 해결될 장소를 알
고 믿어야 하며 누구에 의해 이 놀라운 구속사가 이루어 졌는지 알아야 한다. 그것은

바로 2000년전，갈보리 산상에서 예수님께서 모든 죄를 다 감당해 주신 것이다. “이

는 하나님께서 그리스도안에 계시사 세상을 자기와 화목하게 하시며 저희의 죄를 저
희에게 돌리지 아니하시고 화목하게 하는 말씀을 우리에게 부탁하셨느니라.” （고후

5：19）. 이 갈보리 사건은 우리에게 구속을 주는 예수님의 완성된 사역이다. 그러므로

본 베델한인교회 교육부에서는 오직 이 지식을 알고 개인적으로 받아 들일대 개인 구
원의 확신을 갖게 된다는 사실을 가르치고 있다.

둘째로，그리스도 안의 영원한 보장을 가르친다.

은혜로 인한 구원의 진리와 은혜 그 차체만이 우리를 그리스도안의 영원한 보
장으로 이끌어 준다고 믿는다. “썩어질 씨로 된 것이 아니요 썩지 아니할 씨로 된 것

이니 하나님의 살아았고 항상 있는 말씀으로” 된 것이다 （벧전 1：23）.

믿는 자들을 위한 하나님의 위대한 확신은 또한 다음 성경 말씀이 정확히 가르
쳐주고 있다. “내 양은 내 음성을 들으며 나는 저희를 알며 저희는 나를 따르느니라.
내가 저희에게 영생을 주노니 영원히 멸망치 아니할 터이요 또 저희를 내 손에서 째
앗을 자가 없느니라. 저희를 주신 내 아버지는 만유보다 크시매 아무도 아버지 손에

서 빼앗을 수 없느니라” （요한복음 10:27-29）.

“너희 속에 착한 일을 시작하신 이가 그리스도 예수의 날까지 이루실 줄을 우

리가 확신하노라” （빌 1:6）. 그리스도 안에서의 영원한 보장을 정확히 이해하지 못할

대 주님께서 완성한 구속사역 보다도 자기 삶의 방법이나 자기 선행에 더 의지하기

가정，교히，학교를 연결하여 자녀들의 삶 속에 가장 귀한 영적，학적인 열매를 맺도록

가정: 행복한 가정 생활

이민 가정이 겪는 삶의 어려움은 우리 자녀들에게 더욱 많은 어려움을 준다. 두 문
화 속에서 갈등，자아를 찾는 것, 부모와의 대화 갈등, 언어와 문화의 혼동 등등.
많은 문제를 가정과 교회가 같이 풀어 갈 때에 행복한 가정에서 바른 성장을 하게
되고 훌통한 지도자로 성장하게 될 것이다.
교히: 성장하는 영적 생활
교회의 가장 큰 의무와 책임은 우리 자녀들에게 신앙을 심어주고 성장토록 돕는 것
이다. 이는 가정, 교히, 사회의 장래와 직결되는 것이며 그들에게 교회의 장래 주
인으로서 책임의식과 소속감을 가지게 하여야 한다.
