Jackfruit ice cream enriched with mandai and seeds product has registered copyright under Intellectual
Property Corporation of Malaysia (MYIPO). The scope of this project is to be focussed on
physicochemical properties, sensory acceptability, and microbial detection with different mandai
fermentation period (day 1, day 4 and day 7) in mandai ice cream and compared with control ice cream.
From this fermentation process, it contributes wide diversity of unique taste, texture, and aromas to the
mandai ice cream and can be used as potential sources of probiotics as well. Mandai also can act as
natural preservative to the ice cream. This ice cream is colorants and preservative free. Furthermore, it
has high potential marketability and commercial value especially for locals and foreigners’ consumers.
By introduction of local fruit that has abundant supplies in Malaysia as main ingredient in the ice cream,
consumers can enjoy the deliciousness and uniqueness of this local fruit as a snack or dessert during
their leisure time. At the same time, can promote local fruits to the foreign consumers and countries.
The delightful and tempting mandai ice cream product with nutritious ingredients has affordable price
which is RM 4.50 for 250 grams per cup.
4.0 Project/ Product Impact
The enormous impact of the study, by comparing with control ice cream (without mandai) it can be
concluded and proven that total plate count and lactic acid bacteria (probiotics) in innovative mandai
ice cream product keep increasing from day 1, day 4 and followed by day 7. Subsequently, the pH value
of mandai ice cream keep decreasing along with increasing mandai fermentation period. For hardness,
there is no significant difference between control ice cream with mandai ice cream day 4 and 7. In
sensory consumers’ acceptability study, day 7 has the highest overall consumer acceptance. Day 7 is
the recommended fermentation period compared with control ice cream and mandai ice cream day 1,
day 4. Consequently, the positive project/product impacts are as follows:
a) Meet industrial needs and towards food sustainability supports
• Peel usually just thrown away by consumers and food industries as food solid waste. It may
incur waste disposal cost to the food industries and without proper disposal or poor waste
management may cause big environmental impact to ecosystem.
• By maximizing utilization of inner skin jackfruit by converting it to fermented mandai can help
in reducing the solid waste management cost to food industries.
• In addition, fermentation prolong the shelf life of ice cream by lowering the pH of mandai ice
cream as well.
b) Highly impacted to community and consumers who are health conscious
• Ice cream is believed as a good medium for probiotic organisms. Introducing the fermented
mandai that presence of probiotics into ice cream products can be best medium for them.
• In this study, it successfully proven that day 7 of mandai fermentation period have higher total

1.0 Problem Statement
The commercial seedling tray made up from petroleum based plastic materials. The material takes a
very long time to deteriorate, and it potentially contaminates the soil and be harmful to the environment.
Besides, the food and water that humans consume on a daily basis is affected by increased pollution
due to the use of plastics and emissions from combustion. The disposal of eggshell waste and its
unknown effectiveness is often overlooked by the public. Eggshell has been considered a desirable
material for use as a bio-filler in the preparation of polymer composites. Because it is inexpensive,
plentiful, has a low density, is environmentally friendly, and is a renewable resource (Kang, Pal, Park,
Bang, & Kim, 2010; Toro, Quijada, Arias, & Yazdani-Pedram, 2007). Cocopeat is a by-product
separated during the processing of coconut and it is often unutilized or burnt in the open. Therefore,
this study wants to produce a material for seedling tray that are biodegradable and environmentally
friendly. Thermoplastic starch was used as main material. While utilizing the waste of eggshell and
cocopeat as an effective bio-filler.
2.0 Objectives of Study
The objectives of this study are; -
a) To formulate a biocomposite material from thermoplastic starch/eggshell/cocopeat hybrid that
could potentially be a biodegradable material for seedling’s tray.
b) To determine the physical properties of the hybrid bio composite.
c) To determine the biodegradable properties of the hybrid bio composite.
3.0 Product Description
Thermoplastic starch/ eggshells/ cocopeat hybrid biocomposite is a material produce to meet the
characteristic of seedling’s tray with biodegradable properties. The material was formulate in four
different formula (formulation A, B, C and D). The main material used is thermoplastic starch. The
formulation was varied by the amount of eggshell and cocopeat, with addition of water, glycerol,
hydrochloric acid (HCl), and sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The determination of the physical properties
of the four formulated bio-composite was investigated by water absorption test, soil degradation test,
and tensile test. The water absorption test was done within 24 hours. While the soil degradation test was
done within four weeks using one standard soils medium. The tensile test was done to determine the
tensile strength of the sample for each formulation.
4.0 Product Impact
i. The formulated bio-composite made up from very environmentally friendly natural materials. They

Abstract
Construction is one of the most important industries in the world, and it contributes significantly to the
country's progress. However, the country's rapid development has resulted in a significant level of
pollution. According to the study, materials that cannot be composted, such as plastic, worsen pollution.
Green PG Concrete is an innovation that intends to ensure that these non-composted elements can be
used with construction materials to prevent pollution, in response to the government's request to
promote the use of green technology. Produce lightweight concrete, with the goal of using plastic as an
addition in the manufacturing process, which is a departure from the traditional concrete procedure. The
purpose of this research is to see how plastic as a concrete additive affects the concrete's compressive
strength. According to the results, adding plastic to concrete enhances its strength and weight. As a
conclusion, Green PG Concrete helps to reduce pollution while also promoting higher concrete quality.

1.0 Problem Statement
The materials that cannot be composted, such as plastic, will cause increased pollution in the country.
Therefore, to avoid pollution and reduce this problem, PG Green Concrete was innovated which intends
to ensure that these non-compost elements can be used with construction materials. Further, in response
to government’s requests to promote the use of green technology.
2.0 Objective
The purpose of this study is to see how plastic as a concrete additive affects the concrete's compressive
strength.
3.0 Product Description
The types of Green PG Concrete are an environmentally friendly because we are reusing and recycling
the plastic by adding it to concrete. We use polyethylene gunny in our concrete because it has a tensile
strength which can cause the concrete to remain its shape. When we do compression test, the shape of
Green PG Concrete is still maintained but have a little crack. It shows that the Green PG Concrete has
a tensile strength because it has a potential to be as reinforced in concrete so it can cut cost to use steel.
The used of plastic were added into concrete mixture because it stronger than a normal concrete.
Green PG Concrete mixed were formed from cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, water, and
plastic. Firstly, we mixed 8.55kg coarse aggregate, 5.25kg fine aggregate and 2.55kg cement together.
Then, we put 84g polyethylene that were cut into 3cm into the mixture and spread out. In the middle of
the mixed pile, a hollow is made. 1.35kg water was added towards the center and continue proceed
mixing the concrete until it’s at an even consistency.
Next, we do concrete slump cone test. The mold was filled with the prepared concrete mix in 3 layers
and each layer was tamped with 25 strokes of the tamping rod over the cross section of the mold. The
excess concrete was removed and level the surface with trowel. Then, the slump difference between the
height of the mold were measured and we got the difference only 2 cm. we brushed the mold with
shellac and poured the prepared mixture into cube mold. Then we used machine to vibrate the mold to
release any air bubbles and smooth the mold using the trowel and any excess concrete were removed.
Lastly, the edges were cleaned up and leave it for 24 hours before do the compression test. The
compressive strength results of Green PG Concrete are 6.36 N/mm² while compressive strength of
commonly used concrete for general construction varies from 15 MPa to 30 MPa. It has been proven
that plastic in Green PG Concrete can help to make it stronger because it can handle more pressure
Compared with Conventional Concrete.

Abstract
An estimated 1.3 billion tonnes of food are wasted globally each year, one third of all food produced
for human consumption. All these foods wasted can still be used to more optimise the energy cycle. We
have come up with an idea to further use these food waste in an environmental way. Mainly as a fertilizer
or even as a source of fuel. The device consists of a sink and cutter part. We use a water lens to act as
convex lens in order to focus sunlight towards food waste. With the refracting hemisphere, light is
refracted to focus more on the pot storing the food waste. Moreover, the structure of the dehydrator is
mainly made up of aluminium foil so that the light ray could reflect onto the container and speed up the
dehydration. The food waste should be dried because dry fertilizer holds the benefit of providing slow
nutrient release options, and can typically be stored for longer than some liquid counterparts without
the concern that it will “settle out” over time. This contraption can reduce food waste by converting it
to fertilizer and furthermore the volume of food waste is also decreased after it has been dehydrated.
Keywords: Fertiliser, Refraction, Dehydrate, Shrinking
1.0 Problem Statement
Only five percent of food is composted in the US and as a result, uneaten food is the single largest
component of municipal solid waste. Food waste heavily contributes to the emission of greenhouse
gases. Food that is thrown out often goes to landfills. Food waste that ends up in landfills produces a
large amount of methane gas and this gas is far more dangerous than carbon dioxide as it absorbs heat
more than other greenhouse gases. Even though the lifespan of methane is shorter than carbon dioxide,
the effect of the gas is more potent. The heat that it absorbs can warm the earth in a short time. The
warming of the earth in turn will lead to rising sea level as well as climate change. This is already
happening now. The world has become hotter and the weather becomes more unpredictable. Even the
glacier in Iceland has been lost to climate change. According to the UN Environment Programme’s
(UNEP) Food Waste Index Report 2021, 17% of global food production is wasted, with 43% of this
waste coming from households, 26% from food service, and 13% from retail. Research states that 49%
of the waste in landfills is made up of organic food waste.
So to tackle this problem, what if we convert food waste to something useful. By converting food water
to fertiliser, we can help household reduce cost on fertiliser
126
PMJB NATIONAL INNOVATION & CREATIVITY COMPETITION 2022 l PNICC’22
2.0 Objectives
As shown, food waste occupies a huge proportion of the waste in landfills, with our WASTE
DECOMPOSER we can reduce the volume of household food waste. This is made possible by
destroying the food and removing the moisture from the food waste so that the waste can be further
compressed.
With the dried food waste, we can use it as fertiliser for plants and trees since it is mostly organic
materials from the environment.
With our WASTE DECOMPOSER we can also reduce the cost of purchasing fertiliser.
3.0 Description
The Waste Decomposer mainly operates on two parts. The cutter and the dryer. It is installed under a
basin where you can throw in your food waste with the water and with the cutter we can blend the food
to small pieces so that it occupies a smaller space. And when the food has reached the dryer the heat
trapped in the dome can dry up the food waste.
The food waste should be dried because dry fertiliser holds the benefit of providing slow nutrient release
options, and can typically be stored for longer than some liquid counterparts without the concern that it
will “settle out” over time.
4.0 Impact
Note that our contraption has no electrical components and no electricity is required for our food
decomposer to work. Our waste decomposer is as Eco friendly as it gets. It converts food waste to
fertilisers that can be stored for a long period of time and can promote plant growth

Abstract
An increase of pathogenic bacteria in river water is a concern as it is the main precursor to health hazard
disinfection in conventional drinking water treatment systems. One possibility of growing interest in
water utilities is the technology of riverbank filtration (RBF). RBF is a new method that could introduce
non-chemical techniques and natural treatments in Malaysia. Although RBF systems are efficient in
reducing or removing the concentrations of contaminants, they are mostly ineffective in the removal of
pathogenic bacteria especially during flood and wet seasons. Therefore, this product designed to remove
E. coli pathogens that considered to be of high risk to human health, and potentially present in source
water used for drinking. Electromagnetic E. Coli Removal Pipe (EERP) are specially designed to
remove germs and bacteria E-coli in the finished drinking water for safe to drink. EERP has three main
components namely generators, low electromagnetic field pipes and IoT control. These components
fully designed according to the suitability of the system to treat all types of liquids especially for water.
Low frequency electromagnetic field system that non-ionising radiations used as a removal of E. coli
was design for treatment technique to improve the performance of RBF. Therefore, EERP is the latest
method of water treatment systems that do not use chemicals in the disinfection process.

1.0 Problem Statement
E. coli is one of the most abundant pathogenic bacteria in groundwater sources consisting of a wide
range of sewage or animal waste contamination (Khan & Gupta, 2020), which makes it harder to remove
by conventional treatment processes. Chlorine and solar systems are among the methods used for the
flocculation and sedimentation of bacterial removal, but turbid waters often limit their effectiveness
(Maciel et al., 2021). Concentrations of E. coli can also be reduced by lowering the disinfection doses
that are used, but consequently, this also increases the possibility of waterborne disease occurrences.
These limitations can be addressed by the combination of unified flocculant-disinfectant technologies
(Clasen et.al, 2015). Hence, utilising a new method similar to the conventional water treatment is a
better solution for the removal of E. coli. In previous research, LF-EMF is mostly used for the removal
of E. coli and other bacteria in water, with biological effects by magnetic fields (Mohamed & Elnegris,
2015). The capability of LF-EMF has been proven although it is dependent on the type of bacteria, the
concentration of bacteria, the duration of exposure, the homogeneity of the field, the signal
characteristics, and the magnitude of magnetic induction (Sladicekova et. Al, 2021). Based on a
literature search, there are no applications of LF-EMF as a bacterial and chemical disinfection system
in RBF despite having its excellent capabilities in E. coli removal reported. Additionally, the LF-EMF
system was only intensively studied for removing E. coli bacteria in surface and groundwater systems.
Encouraged by the potential of an application in new areas, LF-EMF was proposed in this study as an
improved system for well development after pumping water out of the abstraction well to remove 100%
of E. coli bacteria.
The presence of a wide range of E. coli and total coliforms which have different ionic characteristics
and treatment methods makes the removal process more complicated. Additionally, a low field intensity
has no or little effect on the bacteria while an excessively strong magnetic field could harm the
anammox bacteria (Zaidi et al., 2016). At present, it is important to study the intensity variation of the
magnetic field towards the physical properties of E. coli removal. Hence, the influence of the magnetic
field, exposure time, concentration of E. coli, and the intensity of LF-EMF must be investigated.
Moreover, the operating parameters of the LF-EMF system used in this enhancement system were also
important because different combinations of these parameters will affect the effectiveness of the
enhancement (Zhang et. al, 2019). The LF-EMF system used in the current study was different from
the other currently available systems as the former used columns updated with different pipe diameters
and intensities of magnetic fields. Elimination of 100% E. coli at the RBF stage could facilitate
providing clean drinking water for maintaining sustainable development and a healthy environment.
2.0 Objectives
This product focused on applying a low-frequency electromagnetic field (LF-EMF) pipe for E. coli
removal in riverbank filtration (RBF). Hence, the specific objectives of this product are listed as follows:
1) To develop a prototype of LF-EMF in RBF using coiled columns
2) To develop the removal of E. coli using EERP.
3) To evaluate the effectiveness of EERP for E-coli removal.

3.0 Product Description
The ANSYS Maxwell software was uses with highly accurate finite element using a wide range of
solution types for a complete design flow for electromagnetic devices. Analysis of devices influenced
by proximity effects, with eddy currents on AC electromagnetic field. The coiled column test was built
on the horizontal axis. The magnetic field generated by means of a solenoid, obtained with overlapping
windings of copper wire on a column pipe 500 mm in length. An AC- voltage was connected to the
coiled column with 2 A current at 50 Hz frequency. Chlorine, chlorine dioxide, ozone, and chloramines
are, so far, the most common bacterial and chemical disinfection agents in the drinking water process.
These chemicals are powerful oxidants that oxidise the organic matter naturally present in water, and
kill harmful microorganisms effectively. However, chemical disinfection processes may pose a
potential risk to consumers, and produce disinfection by-products that are residually present in the
finished drinking water. Based on previous studies, improvement techniques and systems produced by
using low-frequency electromagnetic fields for the treatment of water to make it free from photogenic
microorganisms.
The significance of this project is that it provides the enhancement of knowledge in the field of water
using non-destructive disinfection systems for Malaysia water treatment. More importantly, as
pathogens are considered to be of high risk to human health, and potentially present in source water
used for drinking, and in potable water systems, this product focused on developing a new technique to
remove pathogenic bacteria, such as E. coli, in the water source. Therefore, a simplified model was
made with the coil externally wrapped as shown in Figure 1. Water samples were exposed to coiled
pipe during the experiment at the centre of the coil setup as shown in Figure 2. From the study, Figure
3 shown the percentage of E. coli removal, 100% of E. Coli has remove at 6 mT, 8 mT, and 10 mT of
magnetic field exposure for 50ml/min of water flowrate.
4.0 Product Impact
This product provides several benefits to users as follows:
1. Publication
This research work can be published in International Journals in open access journal, etc and
polytechnic publisher. This research work also can be presented in reputable international
conferences in the area of water and wastewater treatment.

remove E. coli bacteria on the surface and groundwater in our country. In addition, this experimental
works gives an opportunity for improvement on the existing conventional wastewater treatment
plant to discharge better-treated water.
3. Specific or Potential Applications

1.0 Latarbelakang
Malaysia meliputi pelbagai sektor, iaitu sektor pentadbiran awam, korporat, pengajian tinggi,
melaksanakan MS 1900. Pengkaji lepas telah mengkaji pelaksanaan MS 1900 iaitu Arbain Sarion et al.
(2015), Hassan Al-Banna Mohamad (2015), Hasliza Mohamad Ali (2015), Afiq, Nazmi dan Boon
Cheong (2016), Nor Azizah Tukiran (2018), Muhammad Firdaus Zakaria (2018) dan Musaiyadah
Ahmadun (2019).
pengajian tinggi swasta, perkhidmatan, pentadbiran awam, hospitaliti, pengajian tinggi Islam,
perbankan dan pengurusan zakat.
Sistem Pengurusan Kualiti MS 1900:2014 (Sistem Pengurusan Kualiti Berasaskan Syariah) adalah
penambahbaikan kepada SPK MS 1900:2005 (Sistem Pengurusan Kualiti Keperluan Menurut
Perspektif Islam) (Jabatan Standard Malaysia, 2014: iii).3 Penubuhan standard piawaian SPK MS 1900
iaitu Institut Kefahaman Islam Malaysia (IKIM), SIRIM, Badan Pencegah Rasuah (BPR), Institut
Tadbiran Awam Negara (INTAN), Unit Pemodenan Tadbiran dan Perancangan Pengurusan Malaysia
(MAMPU), Persatuan Pengguna Islam Malaysia (PPIM) dan pakar-pakar daripada Universiti Islam
Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM).
versi baru iaitu Sistem Pengurusan Kualiti Berteraskan Syariah MS 1900:2014.
