Introduction

Rizal Elementary School foster a culture of time consciousness, honesty in
teaching and learning

As a learning-focused public elementary school of the Department of Education,
Rizal Elementary School, Schools Division Office of Makati City, advocates the importance
of time consciousness and honesty in delivering educational programs and services to its
stakeholders.

A person's integrity is strengthened, and their chances of success are increased by
upholding the values of honesty and punctuality. The major goal of Project W.A.T.C.H.
(We Advocate Time Consciousness and Honesty) is to promote punctuality and honesty as
two core values in achieving positive changes toward the development of our country. This
is to better prepare our students for their future and for the betterment of the nation.

Punctuality or being on time shows that we are willing to get up early, establish a
plan, and work diligently to finish our assignment before the deadline. It demonstrates our
professionalism and makes us stand out as a dependable and trustworthy person. Being on
time helps us build a reputation as a dependable and consistent person. Being a good citizen
and leader starts with the values of punctuality and honesty. These two core values are
necessary for the organization to succeed.

Our youth are our country’s hope. They are our future leaders and movers. Programs
like Project WATCH play a pivotal role in giving opportunities for our youth to develop
the value of honesty and punctuality that can shape their character as leaders of tomorrow.

Thus, Rizal Elementary School under the leadership of our principal, Mrs. Corazon
N. Caculitan, conducted different grade-level contests highlighting the importance of
honesty and punctuality. All grade levels participated in the different contests: Role Play
Contest (Kindergarten); Storytelling Contest (Grade I); Poem Contest (Grade II); Slogan
and Poster Making Contest (Grade III); Jingle Contest (Grade IV); Rap Contest (Grade V);
Essay Writing Contest (Grade VI). These activities inculcated the pupils with proper values
which promote honesty and respect for the time of others.

The values of punctuality and honesty are important in performing the
responsibilities in school. The teachers of the school demonstrate honesty and punctuality
in teaching, reporting to school, attendance to school meetings and submission of lesson

plans, summative tests, results of the different assessments, school forms, and other reports.
The integration of the values has also been conducted in the lessons. Likewise, teachers
instilled the value of honesty among pupils in answering the different assessments and
punctuality in the submission of performance tasks and written works.

Values like honesty and punctuality are learned through experiences and teaching.
Thus, it is the responsibility of teachers, parents, and adults to instill in and reinforce among
our pupils the importance of these values in creating a culture of integrity and punctuality
in school.

Rizal Elementary School strengthens the values of honesty and punctuality through
its programs and services to help achieve the dream of the Department of Education. The
school implements different programs, projects, and activities to promote the holistic
development of pupils, inculcate the values, and develop the necessary competencies
necessary and desirable to ensure a lifelong learning.

As reflected in the implementation report, Project WATCH helped develop the
values of punctuality and honesty of teachers and pupils in the different programs and
activities of the school. The participation of pupils in the different programs helped
maximize their full potential and increase learning. Teachers have effectively implemented
the different programs and performed their responsibilities with honesty and integrity.

Indeed, Project WATCH can make a difference.

One of the main objectives in conducting Professional Learning Community is to improve the skills
and knowledge of educators through collaborative study, sharing ideas, and professional dialogue. It
plays a vital role in enhancing their teaching practice and create a learning environment where most
students can reach their fullest potential.

RIZAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL conducted a Professional Learning Community dated March 4, 2022.
It was administered through virtual program. There were several topics being discussed with different
facilitators. The moderator has a good impression to start the program, it was Ms. Josephine Gepolan a
Grade One teacher and a Grade leader.

Mrs. Josephine Gepolan, as she
cordially greets the participants.

This has been followed with a nationalistic song which was played through audio -video
presentation being led by Mrs. Rexie L. Vinarao. After which, a heartfelt prayer was then led by Mrs. Jusie

Skills Development Authority, Philippine Association of Colleges, and Universities,
PAPSCU, PRISAA and the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Education to promote
and undertake programs that will instill the value of punctuality and honesty in all sectors
of society.

Rizal Elementary School as part of the basic Institutions to develop value formation
in building a wholesome and holistic future generation enjoined the said program last
March 21, 2022. The school believed that honesty and punctuality significantly contribute
to the attainment of the national attainment goals. School Personnel together with the
school’s stakeholders merged to attend the Virtual Kick-off of Project W.A.T.C.H.

Our principal, Mrs. Corazon N. Caculitan emphasized the benefit of taking good
used of time and being honest in all features. As an institution who make a big difference
in a life of someone, we should model the advocacy of punctuality and honesty. She
highlighted that pandemic is not a hindrance of becoming responsible in the society,
Instead, it is a challenge to prove our dedication by being a good role model of
punctuality and honesty. It was supported by GPTA President, Mr. Mark Christian Galang.
He acknowledged the effort of all the school personnel from Principal, Teachers and staff
for demonstrating love for learning by showing punctuality and honesty. Everyone also
reflects to what Mr. Galang words of encouragement before ending his speech, “ Life
teaches us to make good use of time while time teaches us the value of life”.

Mrs. Maribel Escallo, the school project coordinator further discussed the
objectives and programs under project W.A.T.C.H. She restated the responsibilities
carried by the school as the main influencer on the development of personalities of
people in the society.

So why not take a quick glimpse of what has really transpired during the virtual

We Advocate Time Consciousness and Honesty (W.A.T.C.H.) is a
joint Values advocacy movement meant to maintain objective to inculcate
to the Filipino youth the value of Punctuality and Honesty in the
development and productivity of our nation.

The program aims to develop self-discipline of the time and
consciousness and synchronization of each schedule and the value of
honesty. As a teacher, we are one of those responsible for teaching our
leaners the importance of Time Consciousness and Honesty even in the
middle of the pandemic and to develop value formation in building a
wholesome and holistic future generation.

As their young age, the learners should know the importance of
punctuality and honesty to develop their good attributes like kindness,
discipline, truthfulness, moral integrity and more. It also builds the path to
success in a learner’s life by enabling them to plan, making an efficient
routine, and be prepared for their tasks.

Being on time to appointments and meetings is a phase of self-discipline and
evidence of self-respect. Punctuality is a courteous compliment the intelligent person pays to

his associates.
-Marvin J. Ashton
Punctuality is a valuable personality quality that should be praised and respected.
Punctuality demonstrates a person's regard for both people and time. In a scheduled
appointment, the latecomer frequently conveys the idea that he/she does not value the other
person's time or that his/her time is more important than the other's.
Honesty is the firm basis upon which relationships may be established, as can mutually trust
and respect. It is critical for a pupil to understand that once trust has been shattered, it is difficult
to regain. Thus, rather of punishing immoral behavior, a clear focus should be placed on
honesty.

Honesty and punctuality are big words for adults but just a simple word for children
because their comprehension about it is limited as early as 2yrs old, being honest should be
one of the first thing a child should developed. It is important for a child to know the value
of telling the truth which also goes with being punctual. The kindergarten pupils share their
own experiences where they were honest and punctual. Nothing must hinder the children to
practice honesty and be time conscious even during pandemic.

“Time is gold.” It denotes how punctuality and wise utilization of time affect
efficiency and success. Honesty pinned it as commitment to oneself to do the desirable and
expected tasks even when uninspired.

Kinder Snow White watched a short story about Punctuality
and Honesty in the community. They also answered Happy/

Sad face assessment to evaluate their understanding.

Time consciousness and Honesty should instill in the mind and engrave in the heart of the
young learners. This time of pandemic the learning style is quite difficult especially to those who
can’t afford to join the online class and no option but to learn by themselves with this kind of
situation children tend to overlook relevance of finishing their task on because no one will monitor
them, most of the parents are busy to look after their basic needs. Honesty in some ways abandoned
because of circumstances. Sometimes parents are the one who accomplish the task given to the
students. That is why project W.A.T.C.H is very helpful campaign to refresh the true meaning of
punctuality and Honesty.

As early as kindergarten, it is a good start to help young learners always develop
punctuality and honesty. It will allow them to become better persons in the future. With the proper
guidance from the parents/guardians and then the compassion from the teachers, this project is
attainable.

Helping learners acquire good values such as being honest and punctual is a good way
of leaving legacy behind. Parents and teachers are the core persons who instill positive conduct
towards the young learners. And it was evident when the students are showing interest as I
discussed to them the importance of the two good conducts.

When your desire is to bring peace and harmony to the world, then you will have to start by
finding peace and harmony within your own heart. It is a waste of time talking about peace. You
must seek and find that consciousness of peace which nothing and no one can disturb and remain in
it. Ms. Xyandralia N. Tabilin is discussing the important of being honest and how to manage their
time properly. During the discussion some pupils belong in Kinder Minnie shared their thoughts
about of being honest. While their teacher is explaining Kinder Aladdin are actively participating
and all of them are listening to their teacher.

True honesty comes
with the real courage. We are
strengthening the values of

DepEd Memorandum Nos. 160 and 387 both series of 2008 announced that the DepEd
community will adopt and implement Project W.A.T.C.H. (We Advocate Time Consciousness
and Honesty) to strengthen the value of punctuality and honesty as significant step in bringing about
the fundamental change .or transformation of society. The major goal of the W.A.T.C.H. program
is to push forward the recognition of punctuality and honesty as two core values in promoting
renewal and development.

This school year 2021-2022 was introduced to our school Rizal Elementary School last
March 25, 2022 by Mrs. Maribel M. Escalo, the school WATCH Coordinator to instill and
embraced the value of punctuality and honesty among learners, teachers and employees. She
emphasizes the value of honesty and punctuality in going to school, in passing reports and the
likes.

It is important that we as grade one teachers mold our pupils at their early age to know the
importance of time consciousness and honesty. Each section in our grade gave time to educate our
pupils through PowerPoint presentations as we explain the values that they should put into practice
in their daily lives.
