DECEMBER 2019

Mauritania (Nouakchott)

2019 WAS
A YEAR OF CHANGE

We moved away from 20 years of the Annual So
The World May Hear Awards Gala and into a new
chapter of growth and celebration. We felt very
comfortable with this change as we leave one stage
of metamorphism and on to the next. We are not
who we were when we started out this journey in
the beginning and how grateful we are because of
that. Change means growth. Growth allows us to
spread our wings, share our knowledge and wisdom

and celebrate in the new members, teams and
generation of hearing health care professionals that
are becoming community health care leaders. We are
excited and grateful to have been on this journey and

to still be here.

My goal has always been to help Bill’s vision become
a reality. Every year we have come closer to that.
Every angel that has joined this team has made

that possible. We continue growing until we are not
needed. Until the teams know what to do without us.

Until they spread their wings and we continue the
elevation of this noble cause,
So the World May Hear.

During this mission, Tani took the opportunity to meet with all of the
African team members. She met with the brand new SHI students
and shared with each person words of wisdom and expectations.
Looking back, what a blessing that time was, because from here,
the world was forever changed from the global pandemic.

NOVEMBER 2020

Starkey Hearing Institute Graduation

Starkey Hearing Institute graduated it’s 5th class. This
class was full of perseverance as they faced a global

pandemic, remote learning and social distancing.
Their year was very unique compared to our first
4 graduating classes and their graduation was no
different. We didn’t have anyone from headquarters
come to the graduation, but we utilized our zoom skills
which we’ve developed over the year to celebrate in

their accomplishments.

Bill took the time to
speak to them prior to
their graduation and Tani
was one of the speakers
during commencement.

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY
OF MARCH 11

A MESSAGE FROM TANI
One year ago today, our world changed.
COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic.
We were on a mission in Ethiopia and the decision
was made to shut down the rest of the foundation
mission schedule. The mission trips Bill and I had
come to know and love were stopping without a
clear road ahead. We said goodbye to the team
and headed back to the U.S. As we took off, Bill
looked at me and said, “Tani, they’ve got this! They
don’t need us anymore. They can do it without us.”
We knew we could not control or change

this situation.
But, our vision as co-founders was changing.
We landed back in the U.S. on March 13, 2020.
We barely made it back before the lockdown
began. We believe in the champions and partners
we have worked so closely with for 20 years!

We know they will carry on the vision of
So the World May Hear.

So the
World May

Hear
