Starkey Hearing Foundation has been giving hearing alongside our
dedicated team in India for more than a decade. The missions feature
many memorable moments, but few will compare to when His Holiness,
the 14th Dalai Lama graced our hearing mission in Dharamsala.
There were more than 200 patients who received the gift of hearing
and his holiness personally greeted patients and blessed the hearing
mission.
His holiness supports basic human values in the interest of human
happiness, fosters inter-religious harmony and the preservation of
Tibet’s Buddhist culture, and promotes a culture of peace and non-
violence, all of which met Starkey Hearing Foundation‘s values.
“Hearing is a very realistic way of touching people immediately.
Your hearts are white with kindness.” His Holiness eloquently told
us.
When his holiness approached Bill Austin, he pointed to his chest and
said you have a “white heart”, showing a mutual admiration of two
people who have spent their lives making the world a better place.
We were very fortunate to have his presence with us as we provided
hearing and promoted understanding to people in India and around the
world.
