ACADEMIC PROSPECTUS |

KITAB’s RECTOR

Alhamdulillah, all praise and gratitude to Allah SWT, the inaugural KITAB Academic
Prospectus can be published in 2021.

KITAB is in the process of transformation beginning in 2020 through its 2030 vision of
"An Islamic Higher Education Institution of Choice and Centre of Islamic Excellence
referred to in the Southeast Asian region and internationally recognized". While the
mission of KITAB is "To produce a competitive Ulul Albab through an integrated
Human Capital Higher Education and Tarbiah programme and offers solutions to the
ummah from an Islamic perspective".

Since the establishment of KITAB in 2004, three (3) diploma programmes have been
offered namely Diploma in Tahfiz Al Quran, Diploma in Syariah and Diploma in
Finance as well as a collaborative program with Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatra
Utara (UINSU) Medan, Indonesia which is a Bachelor of Shariah Al Ahwal Al
Syakhsiah first offered in 2013.

Starting from 2020, seven (7) new programmes namely Diploma in Islamic Studies,
Diploma in Counselling, Diploma in Halal Management, Diploma in Muamalat
Administration, Diploma in Social Institution Management, Certificate of Tahfiz Al-
Quran Studies and Certificate of Al-Quran Language Studies have been designed and
five (5) of them have obtained approval for operation from the Malaysian Qualifications
Agency (MQA) and the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (KPTM).

Thus, in 2021, KITAB took steps to collaborate with selected local universities to offer
collaborative programs at the Bachelor's degree level in KITAB. KITAB continues to
step up its preparations for a collaboration that will involve several universities in the
Middle East, namely in Jordan and Egypt.

Knowledge not only guarantees added value in a person. In fact, it is capable of
shaping healthy thinking for every ummah in building an excellent future. Good
knowledge will shape a Muslim's identity. Academia is one of the most important areas

9

| ACADEMIC PROSPECTUS

of knowledge dissemination in human life. The development and progress of a nation
in the world is closely related to the progress and development of knowledge found in
a nation itself. Knowledge is often referred to as the bridge of success, the catalyst for
victory and many more.
Therefore, through the existing academic programmes in KITAB, the direction of
KITAB 2020-2030 is a great aspiration with the upgrading from a College to a
University College and subsequently to an Islamic University of Penang by the year
2030.
Finally, together we work to advance KITAB in the field of academia for the sake of
well-being in order to achieve the glory and progress of KITAB in the future especially
in Penang.

Professor Dr. Mohamad bin Abdul Hamid
Rector,
Kolej Islam Teknologi Antarabangsa (KITAB) Pulau Pinang
