DIPLOMA IN ISLAMIC STUDIES
The aim of the Diploma in Islamic Studies is to complement students with knowledge
on various branches of Islamic studies which include Aqidah, Al-Quran Studies, Hadith
Studies, Syariah, Islamic Ethics and Sufism, Islamic Thoughts and Philosophy,
Da'wah and Comparative Religion. This program aims to provide students with an
understanding of how scholars analyze and resolve issues in society based on major
sources by showing a correct understanding of how to apply their knowledge.
Students are also able to give the right understanding to the local community. This
programme also focuses on the integration of Islamic studies with the field of Early
Childhood Education by offering elective courses. Through this diploma program,
students are given skills that enable them to provide services and assistance to bodies
and organizations responsible for Islamic affairs. This programme also equips
students with competencies that are in line with the needs of the present and the global
environment as well as Islamic moral, ethical and spiritual values.

global-minded in line with Islamic values.

Academic English in an intermediate course. The aim of the course is to enhance
sstudents’skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing so that they may be able to

evaluation of academic texts. Reading efficiency skills will incorporate skimming and

The aim of the Diploma in Counseling programme is to provide students with sufficient

DICR 2023 RESEARCH IN COUNSELLING PRACTICES
Synopsis
This course will discuss related to the introduction of research in counselling, research
methods: quantitative and qualitative. This course will also discuss the research
available in counselling: career counselling, family counselling, drug abuse
rehabilitation counselling, ethics and counselling legislation, cross-cultural
counselling, counsellor competencies, social issues, adolescent issues and stress.
The issues in the research will also be discussed in this course.

Synopsis
This course aims to provide students with knowledge and understanding on
developmental psychology including human development from an Islamic perspective.
This course focuses on the stages of human development in childhood and
adolescence physically, cognitively, socially, personality and morally. This course also
focuses on the role of genetics and the environment in influencing human development
from before birth to birth. This course will examine the main issues that language
development, issues that will appear in every stage of development such as health,

DICS 2023 ISLAMIC SPIRITUAL APPROACH IN COUNSELLING
Synopsis
This course aims to explain to students the definition and da'wah spiritual approach in
the counselling process. The topics discussed are the definition of psychotherapy, the
differences between Western psychotherapy and Islam's approach to therapy through
the Quran, purification of the soul through the process of purification of the self
(tazkiyyah al-nafs), techniques and approaches of Quranic therapy, prayer therapy,
charity therapy and others that should be used in the field of counselling.

Synopsis
This course aims to provide students with knowledge on counselling ethics. The
aspects focused on this course are the concept of counseling ethics, the ethical
requirements of counselling and the code of counselling ethics. In addition, the legal
provisions in counselling ethics, relationship ethics and counsellor responsibilities
towards clients, relationship ethics and counsellor responsibilities towards
professional partners, relationship ethics and counselor responsibilities towards the
community, and relationship ethics and counselor responsibilities towards
organizations/employers. This course also guides students to identify ethical issues in
counselling using specific cases.
