7. Nama: ⚫ To begin with, the reader will know that it is obvious
that science gains much from serendipity. We have been
fortunate as a species/civilization to have some
extremely brilliant minds working on comprehending how
our world works. Some are well-known [Newton, Halley,
Einstein], while others [Henry Cavendish, Rosalind
Franklin] are not. This project, like everything else we
humans attempt, was not without flaws. There were
egregious errors, pathological lying, childish rivalries,
and tantrums. Overall, it's unclear if they aided or
harmed the attempt. What is evident, though, is that our
current level of understanding was far from certain.
⚫ Plus, suprisingly, reader also can explore the history
about how a chemical element, phosphorus was found. It
is revealed when a scientist found phosphorus during his
attempt to convert human pee into gold.
The readers also can learn that after it was found that
breathing nitrous oxide, often known as laughing gas
resulted in a "very delightful exciting," a craze emerged
in England in the early 1800s. It would be the drug of
choice for young people for the next half-century.
⚫ For physics lovers, they can discover an interesting
fact that when someone sit in a chair, he or she actually
is levitating above it at a height of a billionth of a
centimetre.
⚫ The readers, who are the biology and zoology lover
can gain knowledge aboutNon the stomachs of sperm
whales, the indigestible sections of a gigantic squid,
particularly their beaks, form ambergris, which is used as
a fixative in perfumes.

According to Junior, all of the reservation's miserable

aggressive, unlike Rowdy's father. Eugene, Junior's

alcoholism is to blame. Most of the Spirit family's
tragedies are caused by alcoholism, either directly or
indirectly. A drunk driver, for example, strikes and kills
Junior's grandma. And Mary suffocates in her trailer after
a night of binge drinking with her husband. Junior
refuses to use his past misfortunes as an excuse to

Meleset atau “The Great Depression” di Amerika
yang baru dan berlaku dalam kalangan kita sahaja;

Buku Yang After he was released from the prison and stayed at the

man, Velan mistakes him as a ‘Swarmi’ or saint because
he used to solve the marriage problems of his cousin.
They were having conflict, and Raju who is has a little

and save their marriage. Raju assertively said that he is
not a saint, “ I am not a saint”, said Raju. However, when
the villagers constantly give him food, he started to like
this job and admitted that he is a saint. The story goes
on with the construction of the railway line that comes to
town. This railway changes the family’s fortunes and be
Raju’s life forever.

Not only that, Raju’s father used to have a shop at
the railway station, when he died, Raju inherited his
father’s wealth. Therefore, he takes over the rail station
shop to continue his father’s enterprise. Nevertheless,
Raju does not remain a shopkeeper for long, he
continues to be the tourist guide, he takes to showing
the many visitors who arrive at the railway station the

602

sites of Malgudi. He was well-known as the tourist guide
in Maguldi until he comes to be known as “Railway Raju”
sought out by tourists from far and wide. Thereforth, he
became a tourist guide for this one guy called Marco
Polo and this beautiful young woman named Rosie, he is
a wife to Marco she arrives in town shortly after her
husband. Marco is studious academic of ancient
civilizations who arrives in Malgudi to research the cave
paintings and temples scattered around the town’s
surroundings. Raju devotes himself to her and her
husband’s care.

Soon, it becomes clear that all is not well in the
marriage. Unfortunately, her marriage with Morco has
brought an enormous catastrophe in her life, he
discourages her for being so devoted and treats her as a
fancy thing. The existence of Rosie in his house is just
to beautify his house with a beautiful, charming wife and
satisfy his lust. Even worse, her status and position in
the orthodox Hindu family has been reduced to
nothingness. This occurs because her dance has a
striking contrast to Marco’s interest in archaeology which
makes him regard her art as ‘monkey tricks’ and ‘street
acrobatics’, she is also prohibited to keep her dance’s
tradition.. However, when Marco is busy with his work in
the cave, Raju is thunderstruck by her beauty and her
graceful dance movements, he thinks that she must be
the best dancer in the world.
However, it is becomes obvious that Raju only wants
Rosie’s money where he forges her signature and used
her fame to earn more money. She went under the
control of Raju and he uses his love words for Rosie to
manipulate her and make her obey his commands. But
soon after that, he get caught, and went to jail, Rosie
who was known as famous traditional dancer become
more successful and successfully makes her own
identity as a dancer which she has long dreamed of and
also free herself from the patriarchal descriptions of
Indian that have fettered women for centuries.

603

6. Manfaat/ The book focuses on the feminism felt by the women
pengajaran back then in 1980s where they are badly dominated by
yang the men, as portrayed by Raju and Marco who used her
diperoleh talent and body for their pleasure. Other than that, by
daripada reading this book, we can also can learn about the
buku yang Hinduism and their traditions. For example, when the
dibaca: villagers desperately asked Raju which regard as a saint,
to fast for 15 days to bring rains. This is because, they
7. Nama: believed that when a noble person do fasting for 15
days, they will bring the luck and prosperity to the town.
Unfortunately, Raju died at the 11 days because he has
not eat at all for 11 days, his body got weaker everyday
and decided to devote himself as a noble saint, he is
now being sincere as a saint and end is life, with a good
thing. Laslty, from this book, we can learn about the
caste system in Indian where they disregard people who
come from the lowest caste, they will have no bright
future in their life and the members of society will look
down on them. However, this protagonist character
which is Raju, has a different perspective, which makes
this book more interesting to read. Even though he is an
Indian but he sees things in different dimension due to
the influences from his environment, during his
childhood.

is unaware of his extraordinary power. He sees his ability
as nothing more than a survival mechanism. Raju has
been released from prison, but he has no idea where to
go or what to do with his life at this point. He doesn't
want to go back to Malgudi because he doesn't want to
deal with the gossip and rejection that he knows will be

abandoned temple. Raju is able to think a little more in
this holy place on the banks of the Sarayu River, giving
himself time to come up with his next plan. Raju meets a
strange man named Velan while hiding out in the temple.
The two begin talking and discussing life, and after a
while, Velan considers Raju to be a holy man. With his
ability to transform into whatever is advantageous to his
circumstances, Raju notices Velan's error and joins in on
the ruse. When Raju is forced to admit that he is not a
holy man after all and is forced to reveal where he is
from and who he truly is, he is somewhat surprised to
discover that his admission and guilt, which he initially
thought would free him from the burdensome role of a
holy man, has the opposite effect he was hoping for. His
revelation of the truth propels him further into the role of
a holy man, making Raju's malleability a path that has
led him to this point, the true incarnation of a "Swamiji," a
holy man. The reader can see in the narrative that at this
point in Raju's transformation, he is finally able to
overcome his previous need to be whatever people
wanted him to be. His revelation of the truth propels him

Raju sees himself for what he is: just another person.
With this clarity, he can now help others without any
ulterior motive. His path has become clear, and he is
following it obediently. Raju's transformation from
conman to holy man is both amusing and instructive.
Narayan's storey demonstrates how people can be

606

6. Manfaat/ destined for greatness without even realising it. At the
pengajaran same time, it demonstrates how people's pasts do not
yang entirely define them. People have the ability to change
diperoleh and do good in their lives. They can transform from self-

buku yang Raju. Perhaps, in the end, the storey demonstrates that
dibaca: there are often greater forces at work than what mankind
perceives in a moment of decision, whether a good
7. Nama: decision or not. Despite appearances, there is hope for
humanity. Raju's journey exemplifies this optimism.

Serving up Malgudi to meet the demands of its
sometimes prejudiced and sometimes possessive
tourists, Raju’s stories about the cultural geography of
the town are entirely dependent on his mood. One day a
site will be dismissed, the next day its history will reveal
something serious and essential about the community.
But his list of offerings itself is no random showcase. It
exhibits, in fact, the rapid cultural and technological
changes taking place within India at the time the novel
was written, as well as those attributes capitalized on for
private or state interests. Also, we can actually raise our

Buku Yang cystic fibrosis (CF) who are struggling with their first love
Dibaca: and the uncertainty of their futures. Stella is a well-
organized achiever who keeps her life in order and
effectively handles her meds and therapies. Will is the
complete polar opposite. He's a rule breaker who's had
enough of medicines, hospitalizations, and treatment
trials for B. cepacia, the bacteria that's causing his CF to
worsen. Stella and Will first irritate one other on the CF
ward, but in classic opposites-attract manner, romance
grows. Will's bacteria is easily spread and medication
resistant, and it significantly shortens the already short
life expectancy of CF patients. As a result of these
considerations, he is required to keep six feet apart from
the other patients on the ward. This is especially critical
for Stella, who is awaiting a lung transplant. As the two
teenagers fight past the physical barriers to a
relationship, they are also overcoming mental barriers
that prevent them from enjoying regular adolescent life
and activities. They are dealing with difficult decisions as

completely altered to make sure that Ivan do not go

Suddenly Ivan’s mother barged into the room completely
enraged at him saying he has wasted a day. Boris paid
attention to the mother and son arguments and figured
out Ivan was actually supposed to go to a musical school
called St. Edward, hence the oboe case that he had in
the first place. In the argument, Ivan blamed her mother
for sending him to the wrong school, because she could
not read English alphabet and she insisted on that St.
Edmund was the right school even though he had told
her it was not. The biggest reveal was that Ivan actually
could understand English, but he acted like that on that
day out of frustration and annoyance since his mother
sent him to the wrong school.Ivan then left the school,
saying goodbye to Boris. The next day, Boris found a
note from Ivan that said he enjoyed his company and he
thanked for being a good pal. It became a good memory
for Boris.
The story is humorous and promotes the idea of good
behavior.
We have to keep being kind to the people that we meet,
because we generally do not know what he or she is
going through. Just like what Boris did, he kept
translating the nature of Ivan’s comments to positive and
polite replies. On top of that, the teaching or the climate
of school can actually keep students grounded from
acting inappropriately. He reminded himself all the time
that he should not get back to any of Ivan’s insults
because it was simply unmannerly. This king of teaching
should be implemented at school, so that we can
produce polite and mannerly students.

Buku Yang received so much hype that I couldn't miss reading it.
Dibaca: Who would have thought that this title would actually
address the issue of domestic violence? Me neither. As it
begins, the author introduces the main character named
Lily. As pretty as her name seems, she doesn't really live
up to her name as she grows up. Living as the only
daughter in the American household, with a middle class
family, Lily might be perceived as a perfect girl who has it
all. Except she couldn't conceal the scars she had. Her
father is a nice man towards his beloved daughter, but
not towards his own spouse. Lily’s mother was a victim
of domestic abuse, and poor Lily had to witness all the
beatings and fighting for as long as she could
remember.
One fine day, a boy her age wandered around her house
and Lily spotted him in the empty house behind hers.

7. Nama: The two made promises to meet again in Boston when
the future reunites them. However, things didn't go the
way they wanted. Atlas was accused of trying to harm
Lily when he was only trying to protect her. An incident
occured and Lily has never seen Atlas since then.Fast
forward to the age when Lily has completed her masters
and reached the peak of her life, she was the successful
woman everyone could ever dream of. And so, she
moved to Boston, the city that she has been longing to
settle down at. Lily was not fond of commitment, hence
she decided to stay single. Nevertheless, her encounter
with a neurosurgeon, Ryle, at a rooftop changed
everything. With a charming smile he owns, he could
easily win any woman he wanted. Except he didn't
consider commitment as his priority at the moment.Well,
the story goes on with Lily and Ryle falling in love with
each other. The two tied the knot and lived together. But
that was not all. The main character has lived her whole
life questioning her mother, “Why didn't she leave him?
Why would she stay if she were to be abused by her
husband?” It wasn't until Lily herself experienced it. And
she stopped questioning why.
From the book, I have gained new insights about
domestic violence. It exposes me to another perspective
that I have never come across before. For instance,
when we hear about domestic violence victims, we often
wander why the victim could not do anything to report
the abuser? Why won’t they walk away instead of
holding on to the abuser, especially if the abuser is their
family. Nevertheless, we should question the abusers
instead because the blame is on them. Why would they
resort to domestic violence in the first place? They are
the ones to be blamed for.

Dibaca: one talk about Fight Cub! The third rule of Fight Club is
only two guys in a fight, the forth rule, one fight at a time,
no shirt, no shoes. The fight goes on as long as they
have to. If this is your first night at Fight Club, you have
to fight. While writing those rules, I can imagine Tyler
Durden played by Brad Pitt in the middle of the crowd
telling them all those rules. Fight Club not just a story
about fighting and hurt others. It is a story about human
and how to stay being a human. The main character in
the story who his name never been mentioned had
enough of his life. “Everything is a copy of copy of copy
of copy”. He struggled with bad insomnia and need to
deal with it for a long period of time. “The bad thing
about having insomnia is you do not know either you are
sleeping or awake”. One of the thing that the main
character struggled with is consumerism. This is one of
the major problem faced by people at first world country

6. Manfaat/ back in the days where this story is written which is late

night from brain tumor to testicle cancer). Marla refuse to
listen to him and divided the supports group into two so
they don’t meet each other. Working for his company,
the main character need to go to different country
looking for car from road accident. On one of his flight,
he met Tyler Durden, a guy who made and sell soaps.
Their first meet shows that Tyler has a very interesting
character. After the flight landed, he came to pick his
luggage and had been told that it had been taken by
security may be because there is something vibrating in
it. When he returned home, he found out that his house
had burn to ashes and he lost everything he has in one
night. So he decided to call Tyler. They get a drink and
after that, outside the bar, Tyler tell him to hit him. This is
how the Fight Club started. From two men fighting
outside the bar to a world-wide-well-known club.

There are many benefits I got from this book as the
writer discuss many issues from consumerism, what is
really needed for man in his life, letting go what we
cannot control, face the reality and consider the worst
thing that can happen, not measure things based on
what we see in the internet and television, love, letting
out of our emotion, stop being a narrow minded person,
anti-establishment, choose what you really wants in life
rather than following other’s ambition, put your
expectation in the right place and be sincere to ourselves
