Ca (aproape) toate naturile noarte de la inceputuri, cele

a1e lui Sinchez Cotin prezinti o strlrctlrri it trompe-l'oeil.
Nu se gtie nimic despre inrltlarea originari a acestor

tablouri, nici micar daci ele erau sau nu prer-izute cu vreo

ranri oarecare. In trompe-l'oel/ - dup; cum se gtie -

inrimarea nu este oblieatorie; in rlulte cazuri, ea este chiar
inutili. Dar, chiar pi lipsite de rami, tablourile lui Cotdn
sunt rezultatul unui deCupaj. Deqi constituie o rami secuu-
dari, ,,r|uzionisti", peregii verticali ai nigei ttu sunt vizuti si-
metric. Aceasti asiiretrie nu este desigur datorati iutAm-
pl;rii. F,ste vorba aici de o indicalie ludici a pictorului,de o
interacqiune extrem de semnificativi, care se produce intre

reprezentare qi decupajul general al imaginii. Semnificativ

esie qi faptul ci obiectele reprezerltate surlt rproape lipsite

de orice iontact intre ele. Ele nu se ating, 11u se suprapun.
in bodegon-ul aflat astdzila San Diegbe (i1. 14), obiectele

sunt dispuse dupi o curbi descendeuta. Ele constituie cinci

groase ale penelului, cu giantilatria pign-rentului, cu efectele
de umbri 9i lumini. Acealti impresie se accentueazi daci se

ia in considerare ultima dir-rtre riaturiie tnoarte ale lui Cotin

(il. 15), care - oricit de ciudat poate pirea - provine-de 1a

ministirea din Granada uude pictorul qi-a petrecut ultin-rii

ani ai viegii. Ea marcheazd o limitl extremi a artei sale qi
constituie o meditalie picturali asupra raportului dintre

cadru, obiect gi ,,golul" tncadrat.
