GENERAL
The water and waste system provides:
- Storage of potable water,
- Potable water distribution to the toilets and the galleys,
- Drainage of the waste water,
- Storage of lavatory waste.
The water and waste control panel is on the Forward Attendant Panel (FAP).
POTABLE WATER SYSTEM
The aircraft is equipped with a bleed air pressurized potable water system. Fresh water for the lavatories
and galleys is provided from two reservoirs located in the pressurized under floor area in the cargo
compartments. There is one FWD baseline 200 liters (53 US gal) reservoir and one additional AFT 200
liter (53 US gal) reservoir. The water is distributed to the galleys and lavatories via distribution lines
located in the under floor area of the aircraft. The water in the additional reservoir drains into the existing
reservoir. The potable water control and indicating system includes:
- The displays on the FAP,
- Three servicing and drain panels located on the bottom of the fuselage.

LOW LEVEL WARNINGS
A flashing WATER LEVEL warning light and buzzer operates when the water level in the potable water
tanks is below 50 liters. Warnings are provided at the mission command center FWD partition. You can
push the WATER LEVEL RESET button to cancel the low level warning.

VIP LAVATORY WATER HEATER CONTROL
A WATER HEATER ON/OFF switch is located on the mission command center FWD partition. This
switch turns the VIP lavatory water heaters on and off but there must be sufficient water in the potable
water tank. The backlighting of the switch is green when on and amber when off. The water heaters are
isolated when the water level reaches a residual level following the same logic as the baseline lavatory
heaters.

GALLEY AND VIP LAVATORY WATER HEATERS
The water heaters are tankless and only heat water when there is a demand for it. The water heaters
supply hot water on demand through the faucets and shower as required. Cold water enters the water
heaters and runs over internal water heaters. This process heats the water to the required temperature.
A thermostat regulates the water temperature to between 2° C and 63° C (35° F to 145° F). If the
thermostat fails, an overheat switch cuts the electrical supply, if the temperature reaches 71° C (160° F).
The water heater has these parts:
- ON/OFF switch,
- Pressure relief valve,
- Control panel,
- Heater elements (inside heater).
The power switch has an ON and an OFF position.
The heater operates when 115V AC power is available and there is not an overheat condition.
The pressure relief valve opens if pressure inside the water heater is greater than 100 psi.
The overheat switch is a fail-safe device that is a back-up to the control electronics. It opens the power
circuit if the water heater case temperature is greater than 160°F (71°C). It is necessary to manually
reset the switch if the overheat switch opens.
FWD VIP LAVATORY/CENTRAL VIP LAVATORY
The FWD VIP and central VIP lavatories each have one 5000W water heater located in the vanity
cabinet below the sink.
G1 GALLEY/G5 GALLEY
The G1 galley and the G5 galleys each have one 5000W water heater installed that supplies hot water to
the galley equipment and faucets.
