GENERAL ILLUMINATION
LIGHTING SYSTEMS
The cabin is equipped with wash lighting for the VIP zones/areas. The wash lighting is provided by LED
lights in the lower ceiling panels and behind the valance panels. The VIP zone/area wash lights provide a
full range of variable dimming capabilities. The lights can change brightness from lighting presets or
manually from inputs from the lighting controls.
Lighting controls are provided from menus on the Video Touch Screens (VTS) at the mission command
center FWD partition and the AFT galley area, the Keyboard Touch Screens (KTS), the Passenger
Control Units (PCU’s) and the individual lighting switch panels.
The system is designed so that the VTS are the primary control devices for the cabin. From the KTS the
lighting systems can be controlled for individual areas of the cabin.
The general illumination in the AFT entry area is provided by standard fluorescent tubes. There are three
levels of illumination. ON/OFF and dimming control is performed on the AFT Attendant Panel (AAP).
The three illumination levels are:
- Bright (BRT) (100%),
- DIM 1 (50%),
- DIM 2 (10%).
The following lighting systems are installed in the cabin:
- Spot Lights,
- Spot Lights (with integral emergency lights),
- Ceiling Lights,
- Table Lights,
- Reading Lights,
- Decorative Lights,
- Internal Lights (High Stowage etc.),
- Mirror Lights,
- Shelf Lights,
- Window up wash Lights,
- Work Lights.
LIGHTING CONTROL FROM THE FAP
When the LIGHTS MAIN ON/OFF switch on the FAP is OFF all cabin lights including the mood lights are
OFF. When the LIGHTS MAIN ON/OFF switch is ON, the cabin lights come on bright and the lavatory
lights come on dim. Control of the lights is then done from the VTS, KTS, switch panels and PCU’s
(Passenger Control Unit).

LIGHTING CONTROL
GENERAL
In this section, the locations of the lighting in each of the zones/areas is shown, followed by the operation
of each type of light.
Control of the lights is from the VTS, KTS, switch panels and PCU’s (Passenger Control Unit) in the VIP
zones/areas. Operation is explained at the end of this section.
VIP SWITCH PANEL LOGIC
Each switch has integral lighting that shows the condition of the light or lamp that it controls. There are
three states:
- Power off - under these conditions the integral lighting is off,
- Lamp or light selected to on - under these conditions, the integral lighting is green,
- Lamp or light selected to off - under these conditions, the integral lighting is amber.
The default condition is for the window, ceiling and spot lights (entrance area only) to be on full bright.
The VTS and KTS are interlinked so that any action performed on either the VTS or KTS is shown on the
linked units. For example if a command is made at the VTS for the lighting in the VVIP zone, the same
action is shown on the KTS in the VVIP zone.
