believing as a church.

It is like a mustard seed , which is
the smallest seed you plant in the
ground. Yet when planted, it grows
and becomes the largest of all
garden plants, with such big
branches that the birds of the air
can perch in its shade.“

We can truly say that our mustard
seed has broken the earth in
Merbein and is starting to sprout!!.

This year we have continued with
regular services in Chaffey Aged
care where we have been
privileged to minister to the elderly
residents. These services have
been such a blessing to not only
the residents but also to all who
attended.

We have also been involved in MOPS Mums group
providing music in the Merbein
markets on Sunday morning. Here
Andree was invited to sing in the
Merbein market before the Sunday
service.

Another exciting growth point was
the establishment of MOPS , which
was held every second Friday in
the CWA Hall. What a joy to see
mums of the community respond

was the establishment of a business or
office in the township. Through an
amazing set of God circumstances the
church was able to acquire a building
right in the centre of the township.
Although at the time of writing ,
settlement had only just occurred, future
plans include establishing rooms for
training, counselling , MOPS,
administration and also a front area put
aside for passerbys to drop in for a chat
and a coffee. The potential is enormous.

However in the spiritual it speaks
volumes as this building has been owned

Our Zion meetings have

kind of worship in God’s

us into an ‘abundant life’
more than we could ever
have experienced in any

wonder... its like our
Sunday morning worship

his goodness springs up

Worship / Creative Ministries area Ps Andre

This year has seen me transition from the youth pastorate to the worship/creative
area of the church, a challenge to be sure, but as the year has progressed, I have
become increasingly excited about the team and the vital role it plays in the life of
the church.
We are truly blessed to have such an amazing team who make up the
Worship/Creative ministries of the church. Every Sunday we are able to enjoy
and push the boundaries of our worship experience because these teams of
faithful people serve the body. But it’s not just Sunday, our teams are always
involved in Diggerland events such as Arise, Men of Power and Torque to name
just a few. They also have a great input at many regional events such as Johnny
Lee Clary and RiverFest. Often working in the background, first to arrive, last to
leave and often without acknowledgment.

Mark Williams heads up the Audio Vidual
department and has, as usual, being training
anyone who shows interest in sound & lighting.
Mark has a huge challenge as he continuously seeks
to maintain, repair and replace equipment which is
used by most of the departments of the church. He
is, as the add says, ‘a quiet achiever’. He is
passionate about his area and continuously looks to
improve it. He is the ebay guru.

Alison Palmer (left) has paved the
way for Natalie (right) to take on the
Data Projector operator role in 2012.
Already Natalie has pulled together
a team of young enthusiasts and is
writing up some basic guidelines for
training.

Ann Cook heads up the vocal teams and is
absolutely amazing. Enthusiastic,
passionate, dedicated and positive. She is
continuously training and encouraging the
vocalists to develop their talent. She brings
vitality and enthusiasm to the whole group.

Worship / Creative Ministries area continued

Andrew Graham exercises his pastoral gifts
constantly as he develops and encourages our
band members. He is always arranging,
rearranging, looking at options, organising
bands for Merbein and much more.

Donna (M) Williams does a great job heading up Arts
Generation. Apart from teaching piano and guitar
herself, she is also on the constant lookout for new
teachers to build this creative area which is
continuing to expand.

We have met as couple of times this year as a team to talk and plan for future
development. It has been exciting for me to hear what is on their hearts and their
desire to position their departments for God to move in and through.
All of the above leaders have written their own reports detailing what’s been
happening in their departments through the year.
We had planned to hold a song writing workshop at the beginning of this year with
Roma Watermen, however due to health problems she was not able to make it, and due
to calendar restraints and other things, decided to postpone it until 2012.

A good number of our teams attended the creative ministries workshop
with Henry Sealey as part of the Riverfest weekend. The feedback was
fantastic with many being inspired.

I have centralised the CD/DVD production and have
begun a process which will see quality resources
produced and made available to the wider body.

All in all, it’s been an excellent year which I believe has set us up to grow in 2012.

Karl & Alexander
What an incredible year we've had.
This has been a year of incredible worship and God has truly met with us, heaven
crashing to earth with a force that creates healing and wonders.
I know, personally, that God has ministered not only to me, but to His
congregation, week after week, weekend and weekday, holding nothing back and
showing us His glory and beauty through the worship ministry. I am honoured to
have been a part of the bands being placed to usher in the presence of God.
"Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth." Psalm 96:1 NIV
He has placed a new song in each of us and the excitement is brewing in me
because music is being written, new songs, and next year I believe there will be a
great release of powerful worship right from the heart of our church that will
show "The Power of Our God" as the worship ministry echoes our church’s vision
and runs with it.
I can't wait to see what's in store!
God bless,

Alexander Foreman

GUITARS

An Amazing worship session this year was Mark Williams - lead guitar
when James was on drums and Jo was
leading. She chose the song "Amazing
Grace". As the congregation sang the
words, the presence of God and the
surrounding of the church was "Amazing"!
James & I look at each other, surprised.
That was not the only song that went off.
Welcome "Deep Cries Out“, with Jo leading
and James on the Drums again. And didn't
the song just going off!!!
It felt like we played that song for 2 hours
straight at Zion, with all our other plans
erased. God just took over the place. It's
times like these where the worship band
just goes to a whole new level..

Diggerland Bands - 2011 Continued

For me it has been a wonderful year of integration. Having spent too many years on
the fringes I am once again experiencing the joy of commitment. Jesus told a story to
explain the kingdom of God as being like yeast that someone works through dough,
and in a way, each of us is like yeast. As we’re worked into the church and simply
and humbly play our part, we assist the church in rising. And, to take the metaphor
further, we become the bread that nourishes and sustains not only each other, but
our local community as well. Thank you one and all for nourishing me.

Vocals Department – Ann Cook

I love teaching, witnessing and participating in the amazing increase of our ministry, thanks to
the Holy Spirit. With around 18 vocal team members and rising, our department is certainly
becoming equipped to soar.

As back up vocalists it is our job to completely support the worship leader. To clarify this loose
statement ,it is essential the backing vocalists have the skills to communicate sympathetically

with the worship leader’s direction from the Holy Spirit.

Quite a few of our vocalists have committed themselves to ongoing vocal training this year and
the year ahead… something greatly encouraged for everyone in the vocal department.

In scripture we see anointing mentioned in direct correlation to skill. 1 Samuel 16:14 – 23, 2
Kings 3:15. Our vocalists now understand you don’t just ‘turn on’ the voice and ‘GO’.
There is a great deal of proficiency required and once this is integrated with a kingdom
heart – this is when the flood gates of heaven are unlatched.

1 Samuel 16:17, “So Saul said to his attendants, “find someone who plays well and bring him to me.”
Psalms 33:3 Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy,

1 Chronicles 15:22 Kenaniah the head Levite was in charge of the singing; that was his
responsibility because he was skillful at it.

King David had a choir of 288 voices and all of them were skilled singers 1 Chronicles 25:7

This year the introduction of voice training was implemented which laid good foundation for our
expanded training program next year and the years ahead.

Our Tuesday night rehearsals are a wonderful place to be.
If any of us feel a little weary when we arrive, it’s not long before we are invigorated in the Holy

Spirit. We certainly leave believing for greatness for Sundays morning and Zion services.
Blessings to all involved in Platform Ministry, the sound / production / data, bands and singers.

You are all enormously valued.

vocals ministry - especially the times the Holy Spirit took over and we
were just instruments in His hands for what He wanted to do! Trying to
stay upright after the awesome prayer meetings & concentrated
prayer from the other prayer warriors was a challenge I hope to always
have!! It has been really exciting to see the outpouring of God's Spirit
through the worship both as a team member and member of the
congregation. The growth in sensitivity of the Worship Leaders is so
exciting - I'm in there heart and soul! Just love it!!
Tanya Mulder…2011 has been an amazing year for me. My passion for
worship has deepened and the Lord’s Spirit is taking me places I could
never have imagined before. Seeing God’s people rise up and enter
into worship, breaking through to the Holy of Holy’s with such hunger
for Jesus is truly amazing. I am excited about the year ahead and keen
to learn more about singing to enhance my part in the worship team.
Let’s worship bigger & bolder than we’ve ever done before. AMEN
Kylie Fangaloka…Wow what an awesome year! We’ve all experienced
such growth in the Lord. He’s poured out His Spirit, ignited passions
and taken teams to new places in worship. I’d like to say thank you and
well done to the singers, bands and tech team for all your hard work and
heart. It’s always an honour to serve alongside you.
Jane Sparks…I have really enjoyed leading a team in Vocal Ministry again

during 2011. All our team members have a passion for worship and for inspiring
the church to rise up and break through to the heavens in each and every
service. We have certainly seen God move in amazing ways in 2011. I love the
way that He allows us to experience something new and fresh every
week...In Lamentations 3:22-23 we read “God's loyal love couldn't have run out,
His merciful love couldn't have dried up. They're created new every morning.
How great is your faithfulness!
I'm sticking with God (I say it over and over).” How amazing is that... every
morning is fresh and new and exciting in church. We love to come to worship and
wait in wonder to see what God will do!

Wow what a year it has been is all I can say!! It has been fantastic accepting the privilege
of becoming head over this area. Many thanks to Alison for her previous years of
dedication in this role and for all that she has taught me.

Pushing for the next level to be reached through this area of worship is an exciting goal
to carry out over the coming years.

The goals achieved as of this year have been the start of training of some new members,
and also purchasing new and funky backgrounds for our Big Screen -which is super

exciting! There are so many new levels and areas to grow in and I am very excited to see
where it may lead!

Philippines Trip - 2011 Report by Ps. Andre

In April / May, Diggerland sent its largest delegation to date, (26) on a short term overseas
missions trip to the Philippines.
We split the team in two for the first week, with one part of the team going to Mandaue and the
other going to the Cebu Missionary Foundation with Lucy Longden. The Mandaue delegation
were involved in training, youth ministry, preaching, feeding programs and a lot more. The CMF
team were involved in running a youth camp over three days and ministering at the rubbish dump,
tombs and Pier 4. Both teams saw God move powerfully in the people they were ministering to
with salvations, healings and baptisms in the Holy Spirit being reported.

The second week was spent just outside of Manila at the CRC National Conference which was
held at a resort. Our team was involved in helping to run the youth part of the convention which
included being involved in teams, running the entire program on one day as well as praying,
prophesying, casting out demons and much more.
The biggest challenge for me was organising the transport of the team on a daily basis. We
actually managed to lose 4 of our team in a taxi with a driver who didn’t speak English who
thought they wanted to go to the airport!!! An anxious hour.
The biggest joy was seeing the way our team ministered for two weeks, despite being tired, and
the impact they had on the Filipino people they met. (Scuba diving came a close second).

Our youth absolutely shone brightly in that environment and ministered powerfully when they had
the opportunity. They gave an excellent account of themselves and did us all proud.

Plans are already finalised for a delegation from Diggerland to go to the Island of Palawan next
year in March/April to visit CRC churches there.

MOPS ‘Mothers of Pre-Schoolers’ Report by Amanda Sharman

What an amazing year! This has been a year of rapid growth in MOPS ministry. Almost every
meeting saw a new mum joining the group. We've had so much feedback from mothers about how
much they love every aspect of the group, including care, food, mentoring sessions and craft. We
hear so much about how MOPS has changed their lives; especially at home with their partners
and children. Many of the mothers are hungry for more, and they've been asking for more
meetings. Gladly Merbein MOPS has been established by Andree Lim, and is held on the off week
from ours; and we now have some mothers attending both groups. MOPS presents an amazing
opportunity for us to share the love of Christ to these women.

I think this year has been a year of growth in my own life also. I've found a confidence in the life
God has called me to. I've been learning that nothing is impossible; that with the Holy Spirit
guiding us, and such a great, supportive team operating in their gifts, we can accomplish
whatever He sets before us. WHAT A TEAM - THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. Anyone that had a hand
in helping MOPS, you've had a part in helping change the lives of many mothers, and their
children and partners. What a blessing you've all been this year - THANK YOU. Amanda

A testimony from one of the mums who started attending MOPS this year:
Having moved to Mildura with my busy partner and 10 yr old daughter shortly after the birth of
my son, I found it daunting and lonely living apart from my supportive family and friends.
Previously a very social person, I felt like I was becoming a hermit, having only a baby to converse
with. Despite Owen being too young to crawl, let alone play, I ventured into finding a play group,
as much for my social needs, as for his. We started going to a local play group run by the council,
but I found that it didn't fulfil my needs for a supportive social group.
My prayers were answered when a mum that I met at my daughter's school told me about MOPS.
In fact MOPS has proved to be more than what I'd asked for. As well as having a wonderful group
of women to talk with, and a safe place for my son to play, I'm able to enjoy craft activities and
constructive conversation with peers and mentors. I'm consistently reminded that I'm not alone in
facing the challenges that confront me. Many mothers come to a place where they are so busy
with their duties that they neglect their own needs. MOPS is a place where I am reminded of my

worth both as a mother and a person.

DIGGERLAND YOUTH DEPARTMENT – PS.RUTH WHITTON

I count it a privilege to be the youth pastor at Diggerland church and the support that I have
received from everyone in my first year in this role has been phenomenal.
The Youth Department committee, which consists of myself, Andre W- Torque , Beth K- Go Team,
Libby Mc Bain- Kidz Church, Shayne T- D Force, Mel Webb- SYA and Faye Argall- Kinder/Creche,
has met regularly this year to determine vision, and to pray and support each other as we work
to see young people established in love and faith, growing in truth and developing in service.
We are committed to ongoing training for our teams and training sessions for youth,
kinder/crèche, Kidz Church and Go Team have been significant events in 2011. In October we
headed down to Cranbourne with a bus full of dynamic young(and young at heart) people to
participate in the Victorian State Youth and Kids leaders training day. It was a great time of
training, fellowship and networking.
Go Team continues to be an amazing event which reaches into the community with the message
of hope in Christ. Likewise the 2nd Community Variety Night, in support of chaplaincy at Red Cliffs
Secondary College, was hugely successful, opening the church doors to the community and
supporting a Christian presence in our High School. As a department we consider it a vital part
of our role to expand our care and ministry to young people in our community and in the local
schools in the coming years.

This year we have had the privilege of building relationship and serving alongside youth groups in
Swan Hill, Seymour, Broken Hill, Cullcairne, Albury, Robinvale and the Philippines . Ongoing
participation with Sunraysia Youth Alliance and other youth groups in our region and beyond
reflects our commitment to encourage and equip other youth ministries to grow and impact their
regions with the love and power of our God.
And Hot Off The Press is the fantastic news that Faye Argall will be heading up the Kinder/Creche
area in 2012. Thanks to those who have rallied to support this area this year and ‘held it
together’. How exciting for our church family to have fresh vision, renewed vigour and passion
birthed into this vital ministry! Go Faye 2012!
Each area of the youth department is booming under the care and commitment of amazing
leaders. Please take the time to look at the individual pages, get behind the vision of each one and
pray for our young ones!!!
Andre Whitton, Mel Webb, Donna S Williams, Shayne Tonzing, Ruth Elizabeth M the 1st, Julianne
Mandica, Ruth T and Brother Roland you are full of grace, patience and care and this very
stretched youth pastor is incredibly grateful.
Finally a big thank you to the youth committee and to EVERYONE!!!
