The beginning of Delhi Public School Jodhpur dates to 1998 when the long-cherished dream of Mr.
Dinesh Chand Kothari, Pro Vice Chairman, DPS Jodhpur, materialised in the form of a school. The
motivational force behind this noble endeavour of Mr. Kothari was Mr. D. R. Mehta, the then
Chairman, SEBI, who encouraged Mr. Kothari to open an educational institution for the children of
Jodhpur to equip them to face the challenges of our ever-changing global world. The herculean task
loomed large and was to be completed. At this juncture, the DPS Society, pioneer in the field of
education provided the propelling force, the motivation and guidance to Mr. D.C. Kothari,
supporting him with everything that they could, to make it possible for him to realise his dream in
setting up the school. Thus, the school stands today: the dream child of Mr. D.C. Kothari nurtured
by the able guidance of the DPS Society. DPS Jodhpur which is promoted by Shugan Chandra Kothari
trust and managed by Delhi Public School Society became functional on 20th April 1998 at Ratanada
with 280 children enrolled initially. The institution offering comprehensive education for the school

children gradually progressed and shifted to its own building at Pal in the year 2001. Today the

MESSAGE FROM MENTORS
Mr D C Kothari
Pro-Vice Chairman
Delhi Public School Jodhpur
Delhi Public School Jodhpur has always strived towards making its students adept to the competitive world
by facilitating them to think critically, act logically and approach issues and problems rationally. The
journey of the school through the seven Curriculum Activities set in accordance with the approved Action
Plan, aiming for British Council ISA, has been a commendable learning experience for everyone involved.
I am sure, planning the learning designs keeping all core skills in mind will definitely help the educators
give their students a brighter future. The student-exchange programme conducted under one of the Curriculum
Activities was a worthwhile experience as I personally witnessed closely all the stakeholders come together
to promote the idea of global harmony, citizenship and collaboration. My best wishes to the Director and
Principal Mr. B S Yadav, teaching fraternity and students of DPS Jodhpur for their indefatigable
endeavours.
Mr B S YADAV
Director & Principal
Delhi Public School Jodhpur
The concept of family is entrenched in the Indian cultural discourse and the seeds of DPS Jodhpur were sowed
with the same essence. In the ever-evolving and dynamic world, it’s imperative that students develop a scientific,
logical and rational outlook; pivoted around a deep sense of inherent empathy, compassion, co-existence and
acceptability of the idea of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. Keeping this perspective, the school consistently
endeavours to create a student-teacher community that is not only equipped with knowledge and skills but also
conscious, aware and sensitive about the social and environmental issues affecting the global scenario.
British Council has solidified this standpoint by giving it a formal framework of Core Skills and Sustainable
Development Goals (United Nation’s vision) which are already a part of the Whole School Development
Programme of Delhi Public School Jodhpur. The enthusiastic and devoted participation of the students,
teachers and other staff members, combined with successful collaboration with the partner school for the ISA
journey, is praiseworthy. My best wishes to everyone involved for their sincere and undeterred efforts.

INTERNATIONAL DIMENSIONS
School education plays a vital role in empowering students for ethical decision making,
in critically examining their values, in appreciating their roles and responsibilities and
respecting diversities. Delhi Public School Jodhpur has been helping young children to
make significant contribution towards global community and to develop knowledge, skill
and understanding to address local and global issues.
The British Council International School Award paved way in implementing the
educational practices with international dimensions in teaching learning process. This
benefitted the students and teachers in terms of understanding social cohesiveness,
practice modalities and promote global communication in order to achieve the
Millennium Goals.
International Dimensions in the Seven Curriculum Activities: -
“On the Palanquin of Poetry”, “Architectural Masterpieces”, “Scrumptious Cuisines”,
“Danspiration , “Of Leaps and Bounds”, “Political Ideologies” and “Exploring Space
Stations”, developed awareness in students with respect to their being active global
citizens playing an significant role in transforming the global fibre for a promising future.
1. On the “Palanquin of Poetry” based on the theme of peace and solidarity,
affirmed empathy, amity and social justice. Enthusiastic participation of
International School teams accomplished the aim of spreading the message of
harmony in the wider world. Recognising and reciting the works of eminent
peace poets made the students ponder upon the reason for peace and the need
to address it.
2. Activity “Architectural Masterpieces” familiarised students with the
architectural wonders of Europe, India and UAE. Sharing information through
Skype sessions and presentations, they appreciated the style and structure of
the monuments visited virtually and then in reality. International trips to Rome,
Venice, Florence, Switzerland, Austria and other Schengen countries embracing
modern lifestyle and historic architecture gave an insight to the student
travellers into the splendid tourist attractions. Students carried with them the
soul stirring saga of rich medieval palaces, castles and cathedrals in inimitable
style along with spectacular landscapes. Visit to UAE consolidated the learning
by actually understanding the architectural intricacies of sky scrapers and other
prominent building of the country.
ISA Dossier 2019-20 Page| 24
3. Scrumptious cuisines gave the flavour of delectable international cuisines,
different food habits and most importantly the impact of geographical factors
on staple food of the chosen countries. This also being a collaborative project
escalated erudition of students as Nutritionists, Chefs, Master Tasters, Menu
Designers Culinary artists and cooks.
4. Curriculum Activity “Danspiration” based on the core skills of creativity and
imagination revealed the importance of sharing and respecting cultural
diversities through learning dance forms of India, Russia and Spain. Students
with their concise flexibility, graceful postures, immaculate synchronization,
colourful costumes, glittering accessories gave a realistic, linguistic and cultural
tour to the countries of study.
5. Enhancing the psychomotor and social skills of students, “Of Leaps and Bounds”
provided an insight to students about the indigenous games and sports played
in a India, United Kingdom and United States. Team spirit, discipline and
cheering developed in them the necessary skill set of logical thinking, strategic
planning, concentration etc along with global perspective of international
championships.
6. Activity on ‘Political Ideologies’ triggered the skill of research in students,
studying about the history and existing political systems, their implication and
impact at global level. Voicing their opinion through campaigning, election,
debates etc, the students understood the need to make right choices, predict
cause, consequence and its global effect. They learnt that their zip codes may be
totally unique but they have the potential to shape the world with their insight
and opinion.
7. Scientific temperament was at its best when students took up projects,
discussions, exhibitions and quizzes while ‘Exploring Space Stations’.
Innovation and exploration about the work of space stations geared up the
young scientists and they could understand the working of planets,
interplanetary cycles, satellites, launch vehicles and life in space, augmenting
the dimension of space in the real sense.
During the course of these activities we received immense support from our partner
school DPS Sharjah and they shared their learning experiences of the three collaborative
projects done with them, adding an International Dimension to the entire venture.
