AN ODYSSEY TO CERTITUDE
Let me take you on an extraordinary journey, the journey of Aria, an exceptionally
talented girl with a profound passion for singing. Aria had unfathomable talent but
alas! Her world was dark....a gloomy abyss, yes she was blind.
Her walking stick was her only perpetual ally. The ceaseless teasing at school hurt Aria
and she kept losing her self-esteem with each passing day. Until one day....a glimmer
of hope came into her life in the form of a new student in the class-Tamanna. They
found an instant connection and their bond grew stronger.
Tamanna uplifted her every day, “You are distinct in your own way, with a mellifluous
voice Aria, chase your passion. Don’t listen to what others think. If Louis Braille
thought like you, then do you think he could have invented the Braille script? If Helen
Keller thought like you, then do you think she could have started talking and writing
novels?”
Aria regained her lost self- “You are right. I won’t let anything hold me back. “She had
transformed forever.
Driven by Tamanna’s inspiring words, Aria was resolute to follow her passion for
singing and evade all pessimisms. She sailed through the auditions at the National
Singing Competition and with Tamanna on her side she was ecstatic and gritty like
never before. Aria continued to impress the judges in subsequent rounds and
eventually went on to win the competition.
Aria’s parents wanted to express their gratitude towards Tamanna but WHAT?
When Aria introduced them to her, they realised Tamanna was not a human, but Aria’s
a figment of imagination, birthed by her subconscious mind, a feeling of hope and
positivity that had been guiding and aiding her. She had discovered the truth of life
that even in the toughest of times, hope and belief can help us thrive.

THE TRANQUIL BEREAVEMENT
Zoya had always dreamt of becoming a doctor. She was living her dream working her
shift at the city hospital. The frantic calls at the ER, the desperate efforts to save a life,
the contentment of another saved life were her driving forces in her life.
But this night was going to be distinct, an intuition, premonition.... caution. A sudden
surge of patients to the Emergency room...a mysterious illness had held their town
captive.
“Doctor! We have three critical patients here”, a hysterical voice yelled from the other
end. “Doctor, we need your help”. “Doctor, we are running out of oxygen”.
“This is serious, Hook her up to the ventilator, stat.”
“Doc you need to protect yourself, it is a highly infectious disease. We don’t even
know if there’s any cure”.
“I know it’s dangerous but my priority is to save lives and I’m willing to take this
risk”, said Zoya with utmost tenacity and will power. Patient after patient, casualty
after casualty.... countless CPRs and transfusions.
Zoya was exhausted but she persevered, the night went by in a flash. She had been
tirelessly serving her duties, saving lives. Finally, she had the situation under control
which filled her with contentment.
She started feeling light, like a feather floating in the air, devoid of fatigue.... the ER
was filled with blinding white light.
She looked around, noticing her parents on the other side of the glass, bloodshot eyes,
faces blotchy, and endless tears fell down both their faces. She wished she could hug
them. “Zoya!”, her mother asked in a cracked voice.
“I’m right here, mom!”, Zoya replied, “I love you both and will always be with you,
okay? Don’t cry, I’m glad I got the chance to help so many people.”
That moment Zoya realised, seeing her lifeless physical form, she had died.... of
exhaustion! But, in that moment, Zoya had no regrets, she was at peace with herself. A
smile tugged at the corner of her lips and she embraced the divine light...she had
served her purpose on Earth.
