SHIN PROGRAMME Grades I-III “Education is learning and training of the mind to think” Thinking out of the box and embracing opportunities that appear, is the key to excel. Lotus Valley International School, Gurugram in collaboration with Shin Edu Power organised a workshop for mentors in order to provide them with knowledge of the Japanese style experiential group learning programme. The Shin Programme provides continuous growth opportunities as learners strive to reach their optimum potential. The programme inculcates a love for learning amongst our leaners and has been introduced for Grade I to IV for the academic year 2023-24. It is an exclusive program thoughtfully integrated in the curriculum that aims at developing the soft skills and essential cognitive abilities of learners that are essential to excel in all spheres of life. RESEARCH BASED CLASS ASSEMBLIES Grades I - III “Learning through experience empowers individuals to transform knowledge into actions.” Class Assemblies are a crucial aspect of school life, uniting learners to showcase their talents, develop skills, and promote learning. By organizing theme-based class assemblies, learners are encouraged to actively engage in preparations, conduct research, and critically analyze chosen themes. Recently, Grade III learners showcased their artistic talents through various themed assemblies. These platforms enabled them to improve public speaking, presentation skills, and confidence while addressing the audience. The collaborative experience fostered unity and celebrated diversity within the school environment. Additionally, learners expanded their knowledge across diverse subjects, covering themes relevant to both society and the modern world, such as Sustainable Development Goals, AI empowerment, and Nature conservation. In-depth research on these topics enhanced their subject knowledge and prompted practical ideas and solutions for personal growth. The thematic class assemblies leave a lasting impact on learners' minds by integrating topics of global importance into the educational experience to extend learning beyond textbooks and traditional methods. ‘Success is the sum of small, essential efforts repeated often day in and day out.’

INNOVATIVE EXPLORATION IN LABS Grades I - III “Discovery is the fuel of competitive . advantage.” We believe in providing learners with numerous thought-provoking activities to make learning enjoyable and experiential. Our goal is to stimulate their creativity, encourage diverse ideas, and grant them the freedom to explore. In the Science Lab, we inspire learners to develop a scientific mindset by offering opportunities to interact with scientific tools and explore various phenomena. For instance, Grade I learners had an exciting time exploring different types of microscopes and learning about the density of oil through an experiment. Likewise, the Grade II learners were thrilled to delve into the world of fingerprint patterns, gaining insight into unique whorls, loops, and arches while observing skeletal structures and internal organs. The curious learners of Grade III had hands-on experiences with microscopes, observing unicellular organisms and examining a pigeon specimen to understand avian flight mechanics. In the Math Lab, we nurture teamwork and peer learning while covering various mathematical concepts. For instance, Grade I learners actively built numbers using the Abacus kit. Similarly, Grade II learners were engaged in a competitive game called Place Value War with UNO cards, honing their skills in comparing digit values. The learners of Grade III revisited the concepts of place value and addition, using the abacus as a manipulative tool. They also showcased their creativity by reinventing a game called "Tippy Tippy Tap What Addition You Want!" This game reinforced their understanding of addition and fostered problem-solving skills. We firmly believe that learning by doing is an incredibly effective teaching methodology as the experiences gained through these activities leave a lasting impression on the minds of the children.

NOVEL READING PROGRAMME Grades Pre Nursery -III Amongst many little ways to broaden a child’s world, love for books is the best of all. In an increasingly digital era, the importance of reading remains essential in moulding the cognitive, emotional, and intellectual growth of youngsters. A welldesigned reading program plays a fundamental role in nurturing a variety of crucial aptitudes and attributes that extend well beyond the confines of the classroom. Our Novel Reading Programme stands out as an exemplar in affording learners the opportunity to cultivate their language proficiencies. These supplementary texts serve to broaden learners' perspectives beyond what's covered in their textbooks.Learners from Grades I to III enthusiastically participate in the reading sessions, as each child's creativity springs to life when they exchange their insightful viewpoints. The practice of 'I perceive, I contemplate, and I question' takes center stage during book cover discussions. Our mentors also gauge the learners' perceptions of the books through the reading of blurbs. For our eager Grade I learners, the focus has been on 'Mercy Watson' in the Novel Reading Programme. Similarly, our enthusiastic Grade II learners revelled in delving into 'Chumki and the Elephants' by Lesley D Biswas. The mentors assisted learners in enriching their vocabulary and structuring sentences coherently. Furthermore, they guided learners to engage in activities that promote critical thinking, analytical skills and the ability to summarize the text being read. Meanwhile, the passionate Grade III readers engrossed themselves in reading 'How Oliver Olison Changed the World' by Claudia Mills. The mentors facilitated vocabulary enhancement by encouraging the use of dictionaries during reading. They also motivated the learners to assess diverse perspectives and nurtured the development of wellgrounded viewpoints. The school’s Novel Reading Programme significantly contributes to enhancing language skills, fostering vocabulary expansion and instilling lifelong learning habits. These advantages equip learners to excel academically, make positive contributions to their environment, and adeptly navigate the challenges posed by the technology-driven era.
