V.O.Chidambaram College is
Onboard SKI-SD-SAT

SATISHDHAWAN satellite, shortly known as
SDSAT, is a 3U cubesat named after the former chairman
and one of the founding fathers of the Indian Space
Program., Professor. Sathish Dawan. The satellite gives a
special opportunity to send the list of names to the Space
through Onboard SKI-SD- SAT. V.O.Chidambaram College
has been selected for that list by the Space Kitz India.

National Cyber Defence Resource Centre

 National Cyber Safety and Security Standards (NCSSS), New Delhi has accredited
V.O. Chidambaram College as ” National Cyber Defence Resource Centre of
National Cyber Security Programme (NCSP)“ for this academic year.

 This accreditation for one year (28.10.2021 to 28.10.2022) makes V.O.
Chidambaram College a proud member of a consortium to conduct programmes
which improve the state of Cyber Security at domestic and international level.

 Being as a “Resource Centre at National Cyber Safety and Security Standards”,
V.O. Chidambaram College will provide a rewarding experience to the society and
NCSSS.

V.O.Chidambaram College Launches Unnat Bharat Abhiyan
[

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is inspired by the vision of
transformational change in rural development processes by leveraging
knowledge institutions to help building the architecture of an Inclusive
India. V.O.Chidambaram College has initiated the campaign to survey
the cluster of five villages as a participating institution in ‘Unnat Bharat
Abhiyan’. As a flagship programme of Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) aims at enabling faculty and
students of higher educational institutions to work with people of rural
India in identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate
solutions for accelerating growth of villages.

The Principal of V.O.Chidambaram College, Dr. C.Veerabahu believes in
taking the classroom to the field and bringing field to the classroom.
Through partnering with UBA, he has encouraged the faculty and the
students to actively participate in selecting the cluster of five villages
namely Keelathattapparai, Sekkarakkudi, Vadakku silukkanpatti,
Athimarapatti, Ayyanadaippu. The team led by Dr. S.Selvam,

U Coordinator of UBA, consisting of teachers and students of various
departments, would do extensive field survey of the said five villages
and identify at least three areas for improvements. The village level

B surveys aim at collecting primary and secondary data based on which
the issues concerning the respective villages would be taken up for an
in-depth analysis.

Consequent to the proposal, A project titled Enterprise of
Domestic Incinerator for the Safe Disposal of Corona Virus Masks
has been sanctioned by Unnat Bharat Abhiyan under Technology
Development projects COVID-19 scheme on September 2020. The
funding amount sanctioned for executing the project is Rs.75,000.
Under the aegis of this programme, the Corona Virus Masks safe
disposal incinerator was installed in the village Vadakku Silukkanpatti,
Thoothukudi District.

V.O.Chidambaram College, which stands as an icon
for non-commercialization of education, always stives to
receive funds from various funding agencies for the
development of the college.The college right from its
inception has received the fund to the tune of Rs.7.54 Crores
from various funding agencies like UGC, CSIR, DBT, DST,
ICAR, MOES, NESC, ICSSR towards Institutional
Infrastructural Development Schemes, Teaching and
Research Schemes like conducting Projects, Seminars,
Conferences and Workshops etc. The college has the pride
of Ten Departments being elevated as the Research Centres.
Under the stewardship of the present principal,
Dr.C.Veerabahu, the college has received funds that amounts
to one crore rupees.

STRIDE

The institution has been chosen by UGC to serve as a national
research centre with a grant of Rs.88,00,000/- (Rupees Eighty Eight
lakhs) under the Scheme for Trans-disciplinary Research for India’s
Developing Economy (STRIDE) Scheme Component 1 for the
promotion of research for the development of the socio-economic
condition of the nation.

Statistical tools

The College has also conducted a Two day workshop on
Statistical Tools - SPSS on 26 and 27 March 2021 under Stride
Scheme. Dr.V.Thyagarajan, Professor and Dean In-charge, Faculty of

Chennai and Dr. K. Marimuthu, Professor of Biotechnology, AIMST

National Level Virtual FDP

The College has conducted a five day online and offline National Level
Virtual FDP on Revised NAAC Framework guidelines 2020 under UGC
Paramarsh Scheme from 26th July 2021 to 30th July 2021. 220 participants from

all over the country have participated.

International Webinar

The College has organized an International webinar on Effective Research
Writing and Scholarly Publishing from 19th to 20th August under UGC
Stride Scheme. About 750 participants across India participated. The
Resource Persons from ELSEVIER enlightened the audience certificates
were also given from Elsevier.

Our college collaborated on Voter Awareness Programme with District
Administration. As part of this programme, our college professors and research
scholars had made voter awareness video.
Indian Election Commission has selected ours as one of the best voter awareness
videos. In order to appreciate our efforts, our college has received a appreciation
