Day 1

Theoretical class has been conducted for all the students on Types of tax, GST,
Benefits of GST, Types of GST, GST limits, Exemption of GST,
Parameters of GST, Format of GST Number.

Day 2

Calculation of GST amount, Time of supply, Returns Filing, E-Way bills,

Com pu tatio n of bill pa ym ent amount, Mixed and Com posite Supply.

Day 3

Reverse Charge, CTP, GST Council, three types of list, Turnover supply,

Registration of GST, Exemption for Registration of GST, GST Portal was

explained.

Outcome

 The sessions were very interesting, useful and informative.
 The way of explaining helped the students to grasp the concept about the GST

very quickly.

 Talking about real life examples during the course was really enjoyable and
informative.

 Students could find the difference between the old method of collecting tax
and the current GST method.

 Within three days the students gained more knowledge about GST and we are
expecting to extend the duration of this internship.

Student's Amenities Centre

''Students Amenities Centre'' was established
at our campus. Prof.P.Sankaran, President,
V.O.C. Educational Society, Thoothukudi,
inaugurated the opening ceremony of the
Centre on 24.09.2018. As a token of love and
care for the students, the Principal offered the
Centre to be declared open by the students
themselves. The centre provides various
facilities to the student community like
taking photo copies, making online payments
for the University examinations, taking
printouts and offering internet services.

Multi-Purpose Gym

A Multi-Purpose Gymnasium was constructed under UGC XII Plan Sports
Infrastructure Development Scheme in our college at the cost of Rs.1,10,00,000/ with a
square feet of 7500 to improve and maintain physical fitness and health of the students. It
facilitates the conductivity of many indoor sports and recreational events and activities.
They are designed and installed to be exceptionally durable and highly versatile.
The Multipurpose Gymnasium was inaugurated on 13.04.2019. Dr.G.Srinivas, Joint
Secretary, UGC SERC and Dr.K.Pitchumani, Vice Chancellor, M.S.University,
Tirunelveli presided over the function.

Synthetic Flooded Tennis Court

The Court was constructed in the college at the cost of Rs.35,00,000/ It was inaugurated
on 23.09.2019 by Dr. C. Durai, Director Centre for Physical Education , M.S.University,
Tirunelveli.

E-learning Infrastructure :

The Principal, Dr. C.Veerabahu along with the management has taken all necessary steps to
have uninteruppted online classes for the academic year 2021 - 22. Adequate steps have
been taken to conduct 45 classes simultaneously in the college campus by installing wifi
router.

The Publication department at V.O.Chidambaram College was constituted in the year
2019 to bring to light the academic and research findings of the faculty members and
the research scholars of both India and abroad in the form of articles.

Our ongoing publications are Outreach, VOCCTimes, Cuckoo, Floret,
Eco.chat, Math - Myst and.Com Crunch

Outreach, a multidisciplinary journal that has been published since 2009 is a
peer reviewed and referred journal with print and online publication with ISSN (P):
0975 1246, ISSN (O) : 2321 8835and impact factor - 8.619 by ISRA.

Floret is a quarterly newsletter published by the Department of Botany.
It publishes interesting articles and information related to Botany and Biology. The

first issue of the Floret was released on October 2018.

DNA

The first issue of DNA Digest was released on 20th
September 2021 by the Honorary Secretary, Thiru
A.P.C.V.Chockalingam. The issue was received by the Principal
Dr.C.Veerabahu along with the Head of the Department,
Dr.D.Radhika and the other members of the department

The Digest by the Department of Zoology, one of the
premier departments of the college and the abode of the best
museum of the Indian Peninsula aims at encapsulating the events of
the department.

The present issue enfolds the history of the
department and the pioneering work done by the erstwhile heads
and the members of the department. It highlights the pride of
having contributed two principals to the college – Mr.S.Duraisamy
and the incumbent principal, Dr.C.Veerabahu and the DST-FIST
funded research laboratory equipped with instruments like GLC
and AAS etc.

p The Placement Cell plays a crucial role in providing job opportunities for
l the outgoing Under Graduates and Post Graduates of the college by
a keeping in touch with reputed firms and industrial establishments. The
c Placement Cell works round the clock to facilitate the link between
e companies and graduates. It also plays a vital role in bridging the gap
m between industry and academia. It gives effective counselling and
guidance to students for successful career placement. Dr. N.Maria
e Navis Soris is the placement officer and he is assisted by Dr. Stephen
n Pitchaimani and Dr. Issac Balasingh Jesudasan.
t Our college through the placement cell organized a Mega Job Mela
(Campus Drive) both for the student community and the general public in
and around Thoothukudi district on 23.09.2017.

drive for B.Com and BBA graduates. H.R Personnel from the
Annai Jewellers, Thoothukudi conducted personal interviews on

23.04.2018.

Secretary of Thudittssia delivered the presidential address.

Our college placement cell organised a Master Certification course on Employability

skills with RIPE GLOBAL, Chennai from 16.07.2020 to 21.07. 2020. 57 students

enrolled themselves and were benefited by this programme.

Indian Small and Rural Biz Expo

'Indian Small and Rural Biz Expo. Feb. 2019'' was organised by the Forum for
Micro and Small Enterprise, Chennai (A Unit of Puthiya Thalaimurai
Foundation) in association with V.O.Chidambaram College, Thoothukudi from
23.2.19 to 24.2.19. Mr. Sandeep Nanduri Collector, Thoothukudi District
attended the workshop. 50 plus stalls on different small scale products and
works on various micro entrepreneur topics were conducted.

Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank (TMB) Campus Recruitment

Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank (TMB) placement was conducted in the college
during the pandemic lockdown. 250 students from the college have
appeared for the written test. Out of 2400 students who appeared for the test in
Tamilnadu, 51students of V.O.Chidambaram College cleared the test and 80 got
selected for the final interview held on 23.07.202 1in Tamilnadu Mercantile
Bank (TMB) Head office, Thoothukudi and 10 students have got appointment
order after undergoing the Medical Checkup.

Fosta

The college has taken a great leap forward by having a tie up with
FOSTA Pte. Ltd., Singapore to provide International Placements to the students
of Geology Department. Two students from the Department of Geology namely
Mohammed Imran and Marimuthu out of Ten have have been selected to work
with Fosta Pte.Ltd., Singapore. It is a matter of pride and an event for jubilation

that it has opened a great avenue of opportunity to one of the select
students whose father is a road-side vendor.

Activities

The watchword, ''NOT ME BUT YOU'' reflects the
need for selfless service. It is necessary to arouse the social
conscience of the students and to provide them an opportunity to
work with people in villages and economically deprived section of the
society.. Their interaction with these people will expose them to the
realities of life and bring about a change IIT their social perception.
Our college NSS activities are always in line with the above
perception.

Our NSS volunteers took the new India pledge on the
occasion of 'Quit India Movement Anniversary' on 10.08.2017.

A Blood Donation Camp was organized by our college
NSS Units on 05.07.2017 at our college premises. Dr.C.Veerabahu,
Principal inaugurated the camp. Dr.Shanthi and the team from the
Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital participated in the camp. More
than 2000 students and staff members donate their blood on this
occasion.

Legal awareness meeting was conducted on 19.09.2017, District Legal Services
Authority Sub Judge Mr.Samuel Benjamin, Mr.William Benjamin, Sub Inspector,

Cyber Crime and Mr.Rajendran, Senior lawyer of Thoothukudi District spoke on
''Legal awareness and Cyber Crime''.

Dengue Awareness Rally was organized by the NSS units of the college on
20.09.2017.Dr.C.Veerabahu, the Principal of our college flagged off the rally.

Executive Senior Engineer, District Health Officer, Entomologist of
Thoothukudi Municipality participated in the rally.

Nilavembu Kudineer (Dengue Preventive Drink) was given to all the staff
and students of our college during the programme.

NSS volunteers took the integrity pledge on the occasion of ''My Vision-
Corruption Free India'' on 30.10.2017. As a part of Swacch Bharath
Movement, cleaning programme was organized at Millerpuram Bus Stop
on 22.09.2017 and Bharathiyar Vidyalayam Higher Secondary School,
Thoothukudi on 27.09.2017 and the college hostel on 30.10.2017.
National Voters Day Awareness Rally was organized by our College
NSS units on 25.01.2017. The rally was flagged off by the district collector,
Shri. M.Ravikumar I.A.S., at the entrance of V.O.Chidambaram
College. Thiru. Deepak Jacob, I.A.S., Sub Collector of Thoothukudi.
Thiru.Ramakrishnan, Tahsildar (Election) Dr.C.Veerabahu, Principal of our
college were present.

Anti - alcohol Awa re ness Rally was orga nized by our college NSS
Units on 28.02.2018. Thir u.M.S.Prasant h, I.A.S., Sub-Collector,
Thoothukudi flagged off the rally at the entrance of our college.
Dr.C.Veerabahu, Principal, Tmty.J.Vijaya, Assistant Commissioner of Police,
Mr.S.Kandasamy, Mr.M.Ramachandran, Tahsildar were present. NSS
volunteers distributed the awareness pamphlets to the public.
