ENZYME KITS

Enzymes are biological catalysts, they increase the rate of
a reaction without being used up, they are found naturally
in the environment and work at optimum temperatures
and pH, at this point their activity is at the greatest. The
kits below can be used to investigate various effects
of temperature/pH on reactions to determine optimum
temperature/pH and help illustrate how enzymes work.

in a durable painted outer case, with a float made from lightweight plastic
and calibrated from 0 to 7 x 0.5 litres, along with a metal counterpoise.
In use, the float will rise and fall, allowing readings to be taken directly off
the float or it may be connected to a datalogger with motion sensor, e.g.

which fits into the breathing monitor corrugated hose and a nose clip. Also

results or for attachment to a position sensor for datalogging. The pen arm
was originally designed to be used with a Kymograph. However, these are
no longer available so we suggest using with LogIT datalogging sensor

This unit works well with nuts, which when placed in the crucible are burnt 5 H AND GRIP DYNAMOMETER
using the ignition element to start the combustion process, a supply of oxygen
ensures efficient oxidation. By measuring the energy required to burn the
peanut and the resulting rise in temperature, the energy differential can be
determined. When in use the unit is connected to a filter pump, which draws
the products of combustion throught the spiral copper tube, which is immersed
in a known quantity of water in the glass jacket. A metal stirring rod passes
through the lid and is used to agitate the water to ensure even heat conduction.
A thermometer is passed through a rubber bung in the lid to measure the
temperature rise. The water acts an an insulator and provides a method by
which the heat exchange can take place. The unit requires a thermometer, filter
pump (optional), power supply unit, voltmeter and ammeter (or low voltage
joulemeter) and a retort stand.

2 G ERM TRANSFER GREASE UV-GERM X-INFECTION POWDER

Exceptionally bright UV contact powder, which reproduce the touch
transmission characteristics of germs. Dust sparingly and lightly onto handles,
work surfaces or clothing. Once applied this powder is invisible to the eye, and
being extremely fine, is easily transferred on contact. Also used to refill Wash
and Glow bean bags. Visible under UV light, it is virtually invisible in daylight.
COSHH safety rating: safe and non-toxic.

1 GERM TRANSFER CREAM

A clear cream-based dye that is invisible under ambient lighting but fluoresces
an intense colour under UV light. Available in two ‘clear to neon’ colours - Blue
or Green. This product is easily applied directly from its 8ml dispensing tub.
The cream remains tacky on application and will invisibly mark skin or clothing
etc. to simulate the spread of germs.

This easy to use non-drying UV Grease has been specifically developed for
application to the skin or any surface indoors and out. The grease will not cure
or dry out and is ideal for germ simulation training. The moment that skin or
clothing makes contact an invisible colour mark is transferred, simulating germ
transfer. A highly visible mark is then detectable using a 365nm blacklight.

CROSS INFECTION

All the products in this section simulate how easily germs are transferred in everyday life situations. Independent studies have
established a link between the hands of health care workers and the spread of hospital related diseases. By understanding the issues
of cross infection leads to prevention. Using the correct anti-bacterial products can make the difference in hospitals, dentist practices
and other such establishments.
