conquer the global arena .

Students Mission: To mentor each child to be an achiever in life.

Our Philosophy

Research in education has provided us with a wide range of theories
and numerous school of thought. Every single one of these
contributes richly to all overall development of school practices, With
this in mind, we choose to use an electric approach and pick up the
best from western and eastern philosophies. Our core philosophy has
the following underpinnings.

• No learning can ever become permanent unless it is
experienced.

• Learning doesn’t happen only on the confines of the classroom.

• Every individual can learn… different things at different times

• Learning is not just growth in knowledge, It is the visible change
in attitudes, behavior and skills as a result of all the experiences with
planned or unplanned.

The Management, staff and students are committed to this mission
and work together to obtain exceptional results in the academic, co
curricular, extra curricular arenas and be happily productive in their
lives together at this school.

A simple , yet distinctive and firm underlying philosophy of the school
to provide excellent education while being steeped in the rich Indian
tradition and core values has been received very positively, it has
resulted in the growth of the school to be rated as on the best school
in Thane District . Our school has been awarded consecutively for 4

years as The Best International School for providing the International
Curriculum by The Times Of India School survey

In this academic session 2018-19 with the support and motivation of
the Management of The Cambria International School , Kalyan
initiated the process to instill a global dimension into the learning
experience and registered for the British Council International School
Award (ISA).

As part of the ISA action plan, the school planned and executed seven
different projects for students of different age groups which were
titled as

“Knowing music across border, 21st century Human habitations , Let’s
know the world – National symbols, Embrace Eco-Friendly Fertilizer ,
Testing Taste buds, Capturing International stories of Franchisee
businesses and Novelistic Journey

The responsibility of bringing international dimension to the school
functioning was equally shared by the entire team of TCIS. The rule
followed by the ISA coordinator to achieve success was simply based
on ‘Work Smart’. The entire team along with The Principal & The ISA
Coordinator worked with great passion and were efficiently able to
involve the whole school including staff and students in their
attempts to bring the ‘International Policy’ of the school into practice.
Teachers under the guidance of Principal and ISA coordinator
implemented the activities in a positive environment and the desired
outcomes were achieved.

The students within the school were involved in the International
framework, collaborative curriculum-based work and year-round
international activities. The volume of work and the students-teacher
involvement was truly commendable. We are very much proud of this

achievement as during the process of accreditation, students have
explored their creativity and innovation to the fullest and have
learned a lot to become global citizens.

From Principals Desk

Today's school kids not only need to be education
ready but ready for work and ready for the world
.........

We at The Cambria International School always strive
to prepare students for 21st Century survival.

We opted for the ISA activity for the pure reason
that it's the holistic and cohesive approach towards
making learning fun and interactive is the need of the hour is what we
feel.

We want our learners to experience global platform from the school
age and be 21st Century ready hence we keep doing activities like
virtual field trips, interactive skype sessions with global schools and
ISA activities convincingly provides the opportunity to learn on a
global platform. It completely gives an exposure to hone the skills of
the learners from their primary years itself.

To hone the skills of the learners it is utmost important that the
school, parents and community work hand in hand so that they
become true and productive global citizen.

Experience of

ISA Coordinator

“ A child’s mind is not a vessel to be filled with
knowledge & wisdom but a lamp to be kindled.

The scenario of Education is in a transformation
phase with its ever increasing competition and
lastest technological developments .

The Cambria International School is privileged to be a part
International School Award programme conducted by British
council.

The School has been involved in ISA with complete spirit and
commitment and every day has been a day of learning , exhilaration,
collaboration and challenges.

This program has helped our students to explore the world .through
the activities “Knowing music across border, 21st century Human
habitations , Let’s know the world – National symbols, Embrace Eco-
Friendly Fertilizer ” they were able to realize that although they came
from different cultures, they faced similar global problems and found
creative ways of addressing these. These activities created
environmental awareness and global issues pertaining to sustaining
development.

Through the activities “_Testing Taste buds, Capturing International
stories of Franchisee businesses and Novelistic Journey they

appreciated cultural diversity and the contribution of different
cultures for the progress of mankind.

As a Coordinator , right from the day one we all have worked in a
team and with the same spirit , restricted by any kind of hurdles – be
academic , physical or emotional . The teacher fabricated and
imbued the activities in such a way that it opened new windows to
survey other countries ’heterogeneous culture and other pursuits.

Yet we have worked with determination to make a difference to every
child by opening new vista of learning to make education a complete
process.

Students who took part in the programme have greatly improved
their language skills, research skills, and skill of collaboration which
will help them to grow as leaders in the global community.

The ISA program is truly something that builds strong bonds and
creates relationships. This programme has given students the
opportunity to connect with the world.Successful completion of all
the activities planned throughout the year has brought international
dimensions to our curriculum. Certainly there were several hurdles,
yet the strong faith, cooperation, excellent team members, and a lot
of hard work, we, all teachers and students have led to the successful
completion and submission of the plans undertaken.

ISA CURRICULUM

ACTIVITY NO:1

“Knowing Music across
the border”

The Cambria International School initiated
Collaborative project "Knowing Music across the
borders” to gain understanding of the implication
of the Hindustani Classical Music “Raag Baageshri”
across India and the implication of eastern Arabic

music in India.

The aim of the project is exchanging of culture by
the means of International Exchange Program.

As an initial step, Research study of Raagas were
introduced in classroom.

Secondly, students were asked to demonstrate
raagas in the classroom. Handouts were given to
students to know more about the raagas and the

teacher had a classroom discussion.

We partnered with The Apple International School,
Dubai and exchanged their ideas of eastern music

with Indian classical music.

Students performed welcoming the partner school
singing “Raag Baageshri” We organized singing
event “Knowing music across the borders” along
with an International Food fest in the school
campus.

ISA PROJECT 1 – ACTION PLAN

Music forms an integral part of school life. Students of all ages
have the opportunity to become involved in choirs, orchestras,
bands and ensembles, with regular concerts being organised to
enable students to perform. Each junior school has acoustically

designed music rooms and an impressive range of musical
instruments and equipment at their disposal. It‟s been discussed a

lot by now how the only to really perform a raga is by studying
long-term with a guru. I know that there already many online and
printed attempts to disseminate similar information. So to recap
on what teental means because in theory basics are already „out
there‟. For 4 weeks I had daily lessons with sitar, and showed the
technique and and rhythmic playing through a laap and jor. Raga
Bageshree isn‟t a raga that would be given to a beginner and yet at
this stage I would say I find it relatively straightforward. It‟s also

true however that despite years of lessons in Indian Classical
Music. I don‟t have complete understanding of any other raga. The
best I could so far is maybe a ten minute run through Yaman. This
raga has its mood (romantic, longing) but many of the techniques I

was taught (right hand strokes, left hand meanding, taans and
teehais would be transferable to a different raag in theory).

Since the Raga Deep Dive series, provides an insight into Raga
Bageshri. Hindustani classical music, the Ragdari Sangeet is the
music of improvisation within the preview of the Raga. Singing a
Raga is much more than just making permutations and
combinations with Swaras. It involves a keen sense of
understanding the persona that every Raga has. Bageshree is a
Raga which captivates your imagination with melody as well as
depth. This course introduces the student to the exploration of
Raga in the form Bada Khayal, which is meditative, the medium
tempo Chhota Khayal and a Tarana in this Raga. Emphasis is on
creativity (Alaap, Taan) and Swara Sadhana(which includes voice
training and voice culture).

It was the energy and enthusiasm of our students that deserve all
the credit for the success of this project.
