ISA ACTIVITY
NO- 5

Testing
Taste Buds

Action Plan

Teachers

Report …

Learning is a never ending life long process. The realization of
being just a drop in the ocean of the knowledge fuelled us

through the journey of ISA activities. It was not just students, but
also, we teachers gained innovative ideas about food and how it is

impacting the future citizens of our nation.

Our students researched about the ingredients of packaged food
available in the market and prepared creative charts and

participated in series of activities as a part of their ISA activity ‘
Testing Taste Buds’’. This helped us to analyze the effects of
packaged food on health and create awareness about healthy
eating.

Our students also shared their knowledge with a school in Dubai-
The Apple International School and tried to understand the trends

in the other part of the world. They prepared their own healthy
recipes and exhibited their culinary skills through food fest. The

involvement of parents in these activities also helped to
strengthen the bond between the school and parents, helping us

work together towards the betterment of our children.

It was an enlightening experience for our children as they gained
knowledge about the emerging food preferences of Gen X.

International Dimension

Communication and networking has made this world a global
village and have helped us to widen our thinking and

perception. In an effort to give our learners an international
exposure we collaborated with The Apple International
School- Dubai.

The students on both the sides discussed regarding food
choices of their age group and the impact created on their

overall health. The children made colourful charts and
informative table to demonstrate their research. These
activities also provided a platform to teachers in both the
countries to bond and know each other. It was enriching
experience for both students as well as teachers and helped

to expand their learning beyond curriculum.

OurPartners

We were glad to partner with The Apple International
School Dubai, for this activity. Both the schools

conducted simultaneous activities where in students
researched about the popular snacks available in their
respective countries and their nutritional values. They

then exchanged their findings through an engaging
webinar which helped the students to interact one to one

with the help of technology. They also displayed some
creative charts to showcase their research on the
ingredients of junk foods and their harmful effects.

We also arranged student exchange programs where
we visited each other’s school and shared our ideas in
real time. The students of Apple International school
were very delighted to enjoy healthy, mouth –watering
snacks prepared by our learners and also shared their
recipes with us. This programme helped our students
gain an international approach and created friendly ties
with our partner school. They co-operated with us very
happily and made this activity a life time experience.

CONCLUSION

“ Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”.

Hippocrates, 460 BC

We tried to create awareness among our students about their
food habits and their detrimental effects on health through

creative and fun filled activities under our ISA project “ Testing
Taste Buds”.

Our purpose was to drive our children into research and engage
them in learning that had a life long impact. We succeeded in
providing our learners a memorable and educative experience.
Through this activity the students became more
responsible, innovative and open to accept new challenges. We
were also able to provide them international exposure by
partnering with Dubai school. This helped them to know global
trends and expand their learning boundaries.

“Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal.”

Earl Nightingale

This activity was successful in bringing a healthy change in the
lives of not just students but also teachers and was a tiny but

firm step towards building a healthy nation.

ISA CURRICULUM

ACTIVITY NO:6

“Capturing
International stories of
Franchisee Businesses”

ISA PROJECT 6– ACTION PLAN

Teacher’s Report in Practicum

The customer surveys and interviews with customers
revealed that teachers encouraged students to come up with
tangible ideas. Students were supposed to do one or more of

the following tasks: collect samples and/or information,
solve that questionnaire, make a presentation in class, write

a report, and make a working model or making an actual
product. So production process was designed at school for
exhibition purposes, all the teachers expected their students
to make some or the other products. While few students'
demonstrated presentation for the projects. On the other

hand, most of the exhibition projects were sold, where
students had to do experiments, on their marketing skills
come up with possible solutions or demonstrate a solution.
But her projects for examination were individual, where
students had to write a report on a given topic. In few cases
students made products, like preparing night lamp (project
given to Class VIII students) were in demand and quickly

sold out too.

Students realized that what they learned at school and the
exposure that school provided helped them fit in the real
environment, and they had to develop their own way of
considering their beginnings. Such an awareness may help

the students to realise that it is not always possible to
directly transfer their knowledge, but that it is important to
build initial foundations through social practice. The activity

also helped them understand the importance of being a
researcher. Among many positive outcomes, which are
discussed, this curriculum activity led our students to

broaden their horizons.

They had the chance to listen to many different individual
there and even received feedback from some of them.

What I most enjoy, when supervising projects, is
seeing students develop their skills in critical thinking

and the expression of their own ideas.
