Course Synopsis
The focus of the course is in providing the students with a broad overview of the
various principles and theories that deal with the various aspects of training and
human resource development both in the civilian and military environments.
Students will also be exposed to the methods and principles of training, methods of
identifying training needs, training design and development; and the review and
evaluation of training.

At the end of this course students are able to:
1. Define the concept of human resource development/ training
management clearly
2. Identify the process of human resource development/ training
management from the beginning, between and after the training
3. Design the training policy and the effectiveness of training plan including

Course Synopsis
The subject is meant to expose the students with the general overview on areas of
law which affect business environment in Malaysia. It will cover the law of contract
as the governing principles in all business transactions. The topics include the
introduction of the Malaysian legal system covering the sources of laws, separation
of powers, administration of justice, the nature and legal consequences of contract,
formation of contract, legal capacity, performance of contract, breach of contract
and remedies. This course also covers issues pertaining to work and industrial law
such as employment contract, employer-employee relationship as well as trade
union.

At the end of this course students are able to:

Course Synopsis
The course aims to provide the students with basic knowledge relating to
employment law. The students, among other things, will be exposed to the terms
and condition of employment contract, types of dismissal from the perspective of
common law and statutory law, the law and practice of redundancy and
retrenchment, the conciliation and adjudication process. The course mainly focuses
on the Employment Act 1955. Other relevant and important provisions from
employment legislations are also highlighted.

This course emphasizes the selection of appropriate statistical procedures for
specific research objectives and hypotheses. The data requirenments to run and
how to run exploratory data analysis, t-tests, one-way and two-way ANOVA, chi-
square tests, bivariate and partial correlations, multiple linear regression, moderated
multiple regression, and mediation analysis using SPSS for Windows program, and
how to interpret results of each analysis and prepare research reports are also
discussed.

The focus of the course is to highlight the unique nature of peacekeeping operations
and the special approach required in its management. The emphasis will be on the
preparation, coordination of operational methods and procedures, logistics,
communications and training. Malaysia’s experience derived from the numerous
peacekeeping operations will be the major source of reference for this course.

At the end of this course students are able to:

general organization of the UN, the Security Council, the Secretariat,
Department of Peacekeeping and Department of Field Service.

leaders such as Eisenhower, Rommel, Slim, Patton and others; the leadership
styles of well known civilian leaders such as Churchill and Truman will also be
included.

organizations.

Pre-requisite
Course Synopsis
The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge required in
managing civilian resources placed under military disposal during war, conflict and
emergency. Students will be broadly taught the various aspects of sea, air and land
transport management, the management of essential services such as water and
electricity and other resources. Students will also be taught the concept of total
defense as the key underlying principle in war-time resource mobilisation.
Course Outcomes
At the end of this course students are able to:
1. Adopt the nature of resources mobilisation in war.
2. Comprehend the sequence and application of resource mobilisation in
war emphasis all aspects that resources available in the situation.
3. Acquire the awareness of resource mobilization in war.

Course Synopsis
The subject is meant to expose the students with the general overview on areas of
law which affect business environment in Malaysia. It will cover the law of contract
as the governing principles in all business transactions. The topics include the
introduction of the Malaysian legal system covering the sources of laws, separation
of powers, administration of justice, the nature and legal consequences of contract,
formation of contract, legal capacity, performance of contract, breach of contract
and remedies. This course also covers issues pertaining to work and industrial law
such as employment contract, employer-employee relationship as well as trade
union.

management of scarce defence resources. Case studies will be used extensively to
develop an understanding of principles and methods drawn from examination of the
current state of management thought and organized action (management theory),
topics dealing with the basic view of resource scarcity relative to competing needs
and wants (economic analysis) and the basic language and analytic tools, which are
the foundation of modern decision theory (quantitative reasoning).

This course exposes students the conceptual foundation of defence economics in

economic growth, the economic outcome of world at war and crisis, and world arm
race and defence transactions and it implication on developed countries, defence

will also have an understanding of both traditional and multidimensional
peacekeeping operations. Malaysia’s experience derived from numerous
