Course Synopsis

The aim of this course is to provide students with the understanding of fundamentals,
principles, issues and causes of radicalisation. Students are exposed to approaches
and methods in deradicalisation and counter-radicalisation of target groups whilst
concurrently applying personal and professional knowledge within the context of
policing.

Course Outcomes

At the end of this course students are able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals principles, issues and
causes of radicalisation.

2. Examine current issues and causes of radicalisation and its impacts towards

Course Synopsis

The course aims to provide the students with the historical aspects of slavery and the
relevant legal instruments prohibiting slavery. The course will then focus on learning
and analysing the topic of twenty-first century slavery, such as human trafficking, child
slavery (bonded labour) and other forms of forced labour. The course will introduce
the concept of human trafficking and its elements. Throughout this course, there will
be an opportunity to consider various examples of modern slavery and apply
knowledge about human rights law to this contemporary problem.

Course Outcomes

At the end of this course students are able to:

1. Explain the historical aspects of slavery and the relevant legal instruments
prohibiting slavery

2. Examine forms, issues and causes of 'modern slavery'.
3. Analyse the methods used in curbing modern slavery and its future trends.

Course Synopsis

The course will give an introduction to the different aspects of non-traditional security
threats and their similarities with the human security threats identified by the United
Nations, such as environmental security, personal security, health security, economic
security, food security, political security and cyber security. The relevance of non-
traditional security issues to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals will
also be discussed. Finally, the course will discuss with the students the current major
non-traditional security issues and how they could eventually lead to serious
problems and crisis.

Course Outcomes

At the end of this course students are able to:

1. Differentiate between traditional and non-traditional security.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the seriousness of both traditional and non-

traditional security threats to the country that could lead to military conflict.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the implication of non-traditional security

threats to global security and stability.
4. Identify existing and future challenges of non-traditional security threats.

Course Synopsis

This course introduces the students the fundamentals, principles and concepts of
financial management and accounting in business entity and in public sector.
Students are also exposed to the sources and usage of information in making
decision. Some of the aspects covered in this course are financial statement analysis,
time value of money, capital budgeting, cost of capital, cash and working capital
management. Students will also be exposed to public sector accounting as well as
the introduction of Islamic finance.

At the end of this course students are able to:

Pre-requisite

Course Synopsis

This course is the culminating point of the undergraduate programme where students
are required to produce an academic paper or thesis on any topic related to the
subjects of defence human resource management. This course is the continuity of
academic paper proposal during Seminar in Defence Resources Management last
semester. The student already identified research topic for the paper and will be
assigned by supervisor. A viva-voce session will be held upon research report before
a complete undergraduate academic paper or thesis by the end of the course
semester.
Course Outcomes

At the end of this course students are able to:

1. Identify and conduct suitable research articles in preparation for writing an
academic paper report.

2. Produce an academic paper using the correct format.
3. Identify the right methodological approaches to organize and collect

information of data.
4. Complete an undergraduate academic paper report on the end of the

Course Synopsis

This course is aimed at providing the necessary exposure and working experience to
students in line with the national Industrial Training Policy of the Ministry of Higher
Education. Students will be placed at defence-related institutions or industries such
as the Ministry of Defence, STRIDE, IDFR and AIROD. This exercise is as much an
effort to provide opportunities for students to apply the knowledge acquired
throughout their studies as to prepare them for the real life working environment.
Students will be required to produce a report based on their industrial training
experience as part of this training exercise.

At the end of this course students are able to:

1. Understand the nature of experiential learning and applied learning.

Course Synopsis

The subject is meant to expose the students with the general overview on areas of
law which affect business environment in Malaysia. It will cover the law of contract as
the governing principles in all business transactions. The topics include the
introduction of the Malaysian legal system covering the sources of laws, separation
of powers, administration of justice, the nature and legal consequences of contract,
formation of contract, legal capacity, performance of contract, breach of contract and
remedies. This course also covers issues pertaining to work and industrial law such
as employment contract, employer-employee relationship as well as trade union.

employment contract, types of dismissal from the perspective of common law and
statutory law, the law and practice of redundancy and retrenchment, the conciliation
and adjudication process. The course mainly focuses on the Employment Act 1955.
