Zam Zam
Allah commanded Prophet Ibrahim to take Siti Hajar and Ismail to a
place. They were both left in a barren area, a deserted desert and a scorching
sun. Because there was no water around the place, Ishmael was thirsty and
kept crying. Hajar panicked, confused, and worried about her child‟s
condition, she ran for water while praying
“O Allah, help your servant, who is in danger of death, we are getting
weak and thirsty. Hajar ran to Safa Mount, then went down and went up again
to Marwah Mount but there was no water.”
Then, the angel Gabriel came and set his feet on the ground and
gushing clear water. How happy and relieved Hajar felt when she saw the
incident.
This story is contained in Surah Ibrahim [14] verse 37 which reads:ِ
“O Lord, indeed I have placed some of my descendants in a valley where there
is no vegetation near your house, O Lord (that is) so that they may pray, so
make their hearts to people to worship. Their sustenance from fruit, hopefully
they will be grateful.”
