• Solar Lights
Solar lighting is a green alternative to traditional lighting using no power at

all from the grid. The systems are completely powered by solar energy. The solar
feeds batteries during the day and most batteries are completely recyclable,
especially the ones used in a solar application. At night, the long-lasting LED
fixtures operate off the stored power to illuminate the area. Solar lights are a great
alternative and a cost-effective solution for projects like this since there isn’t much
for installation costs and zero costs to trench in the grid power.

• Exterior spotlights
The function of spotlights in the MCU Library is to monitor the surrounding

area of the library. It is intended to prevent theft or crime in the library area. In
addition, the aim of the spotlights is by illuminating the area, to maintain or to
improve the visual performance of the persons conducting human activities.
Several types of spotlights of different sizes and performance are used outside the
MCU Library.

• LED Floodlights

LED floodlights is a high-intensity, broad-beamed artificial lights often
used to illuminate outdoor areas. Normally, LED floodlights are used in playing
fields while a sports event is being held during low light conditions. They can also
be used during an outdoor function that requires a lot of lighting. LED floodlights
are available on the sports court on the outside of the library. So, it makes it easier
for users to do sports activities on the court at night.

To beautify the landscape of a garden is to use lighting techniques that are

appropriate to the environment and the trees in it. This lamp will provide excellent
lighting, especially at night. The MCU Library also chose a beautiful exterior lamp
to put in the garden. Library users can relax while enjoying the beauty of the garden
at night. While walking along the pathways at the garden with lights in the tree
trunk, our garden also provides chairs for the user to relax.

8.5 SECURITY

8.5.1 Collection Security
Collection management is a very important side of security. Tt is difficult

to verify that something is missing if collections aren't properly catalogued. In the
worst-case situation, cataloguing records and identification marks will facilitate
prove an object is that the item in question and provide proof of rightful ownership.
Detailed collection records can also help the librarian separate intrinsically valuable
items for special storage or other special treatment. Additionally, regular inventory
of collections will determine missing items that may otherwise are unmarked.

• ADT business security system (alarm system)
MCU Library used ADT business security system which is 24/7 live

streaming cameras, can monitor and control library areas in real-time and from
anywhere - from a mobile phone or smart device. ADT also offers business
premises automation with Automated Security package, allowing to control
appliances from phone or smart device. Among the key benefits is:
1) Identify customer traffic area in your store
2) Find out when the employee/customer enter your business premises
3) Receive actual footage of any incidents triggered by the alarm system
4) Employee/Business productivity monitoring

• Radio frequency identification reader (RFID reader)
RFID library management, using RFID tags library, is easy and convenient.

Borrowing and returning of books can be fully automatized with the help of self-
check-in/out systems. This system involves installation of special software. A
person using this system to borrow books, is presented with options on a computer
screen. The person has to identify himself with a code, which is preferably a
personal identification number, or any form of unique identity code. Books selected
by the person are identified by the system's built-in RFID reader. And, the
surveillance bit in the book's tag is deactivated by the system. When a book is
returned, the check-in/out system activates the surveillance bit.

• Security gate
Security gates are intended to ensure that every book that comes out of the

library or beyond the security gates has been recorded by its borrower. In addition,
this security gate is to calculate the statistics of users who walk into the library on
a daily basis. Furthermore, it is to prevent theft from stealing a collection because
nowadays library collections have always faced the danger of theft, damage, and
accidental loss.

• Closed-circuit television (CCTV)
CCTV is the use of video cameras to transmit a signal to a specific place,

on a limited set of monitors. It is one of the must-have security systems in any
organization. For our library, we have a lot of collections that are valuable and cost
a price. By implementing CCTV in our library, we can make sure that all the
valuable items and collections are fully monitored and recorded by the CCTV.

8.5.2 Disaster Security
Accidents or disasters can occur unexpectedly and require careful

supervision and preparation from the beginning before operating a building. This
security is very important in every building or even at home. The MCU Library has
taken some initial steps in preparation for a fire, flood, earthquakes, shooting,
power outage, or other situations. Fire detection equipment, fire extinguishers, fire
alarms and a number of other related tools have been provided at every floor and
corner in the building. Training for staff in the event of a fire has also been carried
out. There are several types of fire extinguishers used in the MCU Library:
• Dry powder fire extinguisher

Dry powder or dry chemical fire extinguishers extinguish the fire primarily
by interrupting the chemical reaction of the fire triangle. Today's most widely used
type of fire extinguisher is the multipurpose dry chemical that is effective on Class
A, B, and C fires. This agent also works by creating a barrier between the oxygen
element and the fuel element on Class A fires. Ordinary dry chemical is for Class
B & C fires only. It is important to use the correct extinguisher for the type of fuel!
Using the incorrect agent can allow the fire to re-ignite after apparently being
extinguished successfully.

• Carbon dioxide fire extinguisher

Carbon Dioxide fire extinguishers extinguish fire by taking away the
oxygen element of the fire triangle and also be removing the heat with a very cold
discharge. Carbon dioxide can be used on Class B & C fires. They are usually
ineffective on Class A fires.

CO2 fire extinguisher

• Foam fire extinguisher
Foam fire extinguishers can be used on Class A and B fires. They are most

suited to extinguishing liquid fires such as petrol or diesel and are more versatile
than water jet extinguishers because they can also be used on solids such as wood
and paper. The foam extinguishes liquid fires by sealing the surface of the liquid,
preventing flammable vapor reaching the air and starving the fire of fuel. They are
not suitable for use on free-flowing liquid fires.

• Wet chemicals fire extinguisher

Wet Chemical is a new agent that extinguishes the fire by removing the heat
of the fire triangle and prevents re-ignition by creating a barrier between the oxygen
and fuel elements. Wet chemical of Class K extinguishers was developed for
modern, high efficiency deep fat fryers in commercial cooking operations. Some
may also be used on Class A fires in commercial kitchens.

8.7 VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING
Ventilation

Functional ventilation determines the level of health, thermal comfort, fire and
cooling of building structures. the priority in fulfilling these three functions depends on the
local climate. in order to fulfil all three functions, it must involve detailed design. The fan
is the main device in the ventilation system.

• COMFORT
Produces heat generated by heat from the human body, sunlight and from electrical
appliances.

• HEALTH
Removes dust, bacteria, and odours in the air to keep the air clean.

• FIRE
Controls smoke and toxic gases dispersed throughout space during the fire.
