Issue
LVG-11/2nd Quarter/2019-20
PREFACE…
It is with great joy that we present the second edition of our quarterly
e-magazine, Different Strokes. The e-magazine is an earnest effort by
the school to allow the parent community to delve into the happenings of the
quarter and enjoy what the learners have achieved. It is known that only
when the minds of our young learners are challenged, do they shine the
most. Examples of this have been prevalent in the quarter that has gone by
with the learners being fully occupied with a plethora of events and
academics.
The Learners’ Conclave 2.0 was one such example with its amazing line up
of illustrious speakers from diverse fields and highly acclaimed
performances became a platform for our learners to become the true leaders
of tomorrow. Passion Paathshala was another venture wherein the learners
learnt to deliver their understanding to the parents; thus allowing parents to
take a peek into their children’s world at school. Out of school excursions
allowed our learners to come out of their comfort zones and gain a fresh
perspective on life by getting new experiences through adventure sport and
spending time with their peers amidst the beauty of nature. The Leaners
Led League is quickly becoming an event that learners look forward to as
that allows them to take ownership of all their hard work and they take
pride in showcasing the same to their parents along with a small talent
show.
We take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to our parent
fraternity for their passionate involvement and constant trust. We trust that
this relationship will forever render its blessings upon the school for the
betterment of our children’s holistic development.
FROM OUR PATRON…
“Peace on earth will come to stay when we live
Christmas every day.” - Helen Rice
The future of the country is right inside every DR SHYAMA CHONA
classroom and each facilitator and parent is the Padma Shree & Padma
beacon of light guiding the children into the right
direction. I would like to begin by extending my Bhushan Awardee
heartiest congratulations to Mrs. Anita Malhotra
and her dynamic team for the success of The
Learners Conclave. The dedicated efforts put in
by learners and teachers were duly celebrated in
the grand event in the month of October. This was
the perfect opportunity to discern and nurture the
leaders of tomorrow ready to take on the world!
I would also like to take this opportunity to put on record all the wonderful and
insightful things my learners have done this year to showcase their learning within
the beyond the classrooms; be it through the Learners Led League or the out-bound
excursions. Parents are an integral part of the school community and I must extend
my gratitude towards the entire community to always being there for our children and
for the school with the common goal of enabling the learners to shine. The Lotus
Valley team endeavours to inculcate the right values in children so that they do not
become a part of the rat race; on the contrary, they make real and meaningful
contributions to the world and become holistic citizens of this ever evolving world.
I wish the school the very best of luck for the future and applaud the entire Lotus
Valley family for their unending efforts to make the world of our children a better
place.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK…
Dear Parent
A month of joy and blessings, December begins the
culmination of the academic session. It gives me
immense pleasure to see the comradery between the
learners and the teachers at this time of the year,
with their heads together to achieve their goals.
The school is an incarnation of self-respect, love,
affection, sensibility; responsibility and compassion
which puts the students into a “State of flow” and
makes them genuinely want to learn. We recognize,
appreciate, applaud and foster the fine blend of
sensibilities in a child changing doubts and Mrs ANITA MALHORTA
apprehensions to brightness and expectant. This State & CBSE Awardee
school attains its eminence in the first place through
the achievement of children.
The e-magazine also espouses the School spirit which is built up within the school
through the collective actions, thoughts and aspirations. All these, I believe, would
spur higher growth and enterprise in children. It gives me immense pleasure to ensure
that this edition of the e-magazine has successfully accomplished its objective.
Learners need to be exposed to various platforms to showcase their understandings and
talents. The Learners Conclave was one such platform, wherein the learners came
together from all over Delhi NCR to discuss pertinent matters like water crises,
artificial intelligence, exam pressure and even imagining history being re-written!
Education can never be complete for a child unless there is a complete team of mentors,
teachers and parents to pitch in at all times.
On behalf of my students and teachers, I thank you for being a part of this yet
another successful year and I look forward to continuing this relationship of love and
resolve.

INTRA MUN – CARPE DIEM ‘19
Lotus Valley Gurugram
firmly believes in social
progression for the
enhancement of our
society by grooming young
minds. The school’s core
values are based upon
harmony, equality,
tolerance and justice.
These values were imbibed
into the Intra-MUN, Carpe
Diem’19, held on the 18th
of August, 2019. The
ebullience echoed through
the hallways of the school
as the committees
proceeded with full fervor.
They say that the
beginning is the most
important facet of the
journey and this was
perfectly emulated as the
Secretary General, Ameya
Dehade addressed the 140
participants, freeing them
of any misgivings.
INTRA MUN – CARPE DIEM ‘19
The committee lineup included the United Nations General Assembly, the Human
Rights Council, the Security Council and the All India Political Party Meet; the agendas
being “Climate Change: Impacts, Vulnerabilities and Adaptation in developing
countries”, “Refugee Crisis in Middle Eastern and North African countries”, “Terrorism,
Xenophobia, and Islamophobia as hindrances to global development” and “The
Relevance of the Abrogation of Article 370”respectively. The proceedings of MUN
depicts how aware and empathetic our students are. They not only watch the news of
the plaguing issues present in the world but they debate about it , argue about it and
come up with viable solutions to them. The human spirit is burning brightly in this
school. Let’s hope that it will never get extinguished.
ANNUAL PRESENTATION – MEMORABILIA
Karwan-E -Zindagi (Grade IV)
Inspired by Shakespeare’s poem, 'Seven Ages of Man', Learners of Grade IV presented an
in-house Cultural Production, ‘Memorabilia.. Kaarwan-E-Zindagi’ on August 21, 2019.
The Program was graced by the presence of the Special Guest, Ms Meera Khanna, a
Social Activist, poet & writer. She spoke about the importance of living in the present
moment and taking time out for oneself in this fast-paced life, and not to succumb to
peer pressure and materialistic values. The school was honoured to have special guests,
Ms Sureena Uppal and Ms. Jaspreet Kaur, prestigious members of the School committee.
Respected Principal, Ms Anita Malhotra shared her valuable thoughts on the significance
of each stage of human life and how important it is to make the best of each stage.
The programme was
an amalgamation of
the interdisciplinary
learning from arts,
dance, poetry, and
music. The young
Lotusians of Grade IV
took the audience
through the beautiful
journey of a human’s
life, showcasing a
person’s growth and
struggles across seven
stages. The mellifluous
voice of the choir,
synchronized dances,
bedazzling sets and
costumes kept the
audience riveted.
The Headmistress
concluded the event
with a thank you note
to all present,
applauding the efforts
of all the learners and
sharing the pleasant
experience of learners’
practice and
participation.

CROSSROADS WITH VIII PARENTS (17th August, 2019)
“CROSSROADS” is a platform wherein all
important entities in an adolescent’s
environment come together and work
towards child’s holistic development and
well-being. It is a point, a junction where
important insights take birth.
The aim of this workshop was to empower
parents to resolve adolescent concerns,
their mutual differences and identify the
ways of handling complex situations.
The workshop commenced with a warm
welcome to the parents and a brief
description of the purpose of the
session. The parents were divided into 5
groups and each group was given a case
study.
The parents were expected to deliberate
and arrive at a solution which they felt was
best for the child related to their case study.
Each group was assisted by a counselor to
help them understand the situation in case
of any doubt. After a successful completion
of the discussion, the parents were asked to
come up and present their ideas on it.
The session culminated with the discussion
of various strategies to deal in difficult
situations and gave rise to many essential
insights. It acted as a yardstick in finding
ways to deal with many necessary concerns.

PASSION PATHSHALA : Grade V (22nd – 25th October ,2019)
The school Principal's concept of flip teaching turned into an exhilarating, enriching and
enthralling experience when the Grade V learners presented an enlightening session,
‘Passion Pathshala with Parents' from 22nd Oct to 25th Oct 2019.
This unforgettable and unique program
became more magnificent when Parents
became 'Learners' and were taught by young
Mentors. Passion Pathshala with Parents
generated a way of bringing an enthusiastic
and innovative teaching-learning process. It
was an amalgamation of traditional and
modern teaching methodology where skills,
like planning, problem-solving,
communication and collaboration with
knowledgeable inputs were enhanced using
technology, modern tools, teaching aids.
Kudos to the efforts put up by the young
learners and the enthusiasm shown by the
Parents thereby making the show an
absolute success!
