believes that Learning happens through
real life observations. Keeping this in
view, the school organized a
recreational trip in collaboration with
Rocksport for the learners of Grade VI
Nile, Sutlej, Thames, and Narmada to
Hiker Retreat, Sariska, Rajasthan from
September 14 to September 16 ,2019.

The students enjoyed the well-planned
adventuresome activities like Ziplining,
Rafting, and Wall Climbing with
immense zeal and enthusiasm. The trip
aimed at developing Teamwork, Time
management, enhancement of social
skills and shaping personality and
confidence of the learners. Learners
took home everlasting memories, their
smile and laughter.

Lotus Valley International School,
Gurugram organized an adventure trip
to Hiker’s Retreat Sariska for the
learners of Grade VI from 21st
September to 23rd September in
collaboration with Rocksport.
Learners were excited to explore the
camp and the activities planned by
Rocksport. Learners were divided into
three teams namely, 'White Tigers',
'Green Gorillas', 'Black panthers' and
were engaged in many activities like
Rock climbing,Trekking, Zipline,
Shooting, Rafting, Air Hooppie and
Camp Games etc. Every evening, they
were given journals to pen down their
experiences of the day. On the final day,
learners were rewarded with badges
based on their performances in varied
activities. They will always remember
the day and night adventure and will
certainly nurture these experiences for
their lifetime

RockSport in Jim Corbett for its annual
educational excursion from 14th - 16th
September 2019.
The visit honed diverse aspects of the
learners' personalities.

The stay in mud huts amidst pristine natural surroundings highlighted the beauty of
nature and the diversity of flora and fauna often missed in cities. Learners participated in
various tasks like Raft Building & Relay, Zipline, Body Surfing, Endurance Games to name a
few.
The Camp was an enriching experience for the learners that highlighted for them the
importance of building not just a strong physique but a stronger character.

Nainital for the learners of Grade IX
from 14th – 17th September 2019.
The camp to Nainital was an
experiential learning holiday for the
learners. As nature keeps us
grounded. Obstacles make us
perseverant. Adventure makes us
tough. At the Camp, these three
forces combined to unleash the X
factor in the learners and gave
them a power-packed experience
that pushed them to challenge
themselves, enhance their
confidence and acquire new skills.

Different activities like a zip-line,
caving, high rope course and
rappelling helped them discover
their adventurous side while they
learned how to deal with emergency
situations too.
The routine during the four days in
the verdant camp area of Nainital
showed them the benefits of a
healthy and fit life clubbed with fun
and adventure.

TRIP TO CRAFTS MUSEUM (26th Sep, 2019)

In order to acknowledge the importance of handicrafts and the need to preserve our
own cultural assets in the rapidly changing world, the learners of Grade IV visited the
Craft Museum in Pragati Maidan, Delhi on 26th September 2019. The visit included an
experiential walk-through of textiles, hand-spun, and handcrafted. They witnessed a
diverse and rare range of exquisite displays of stone and wood carvings on doors and
windows and folk and tribal paintings sprawled on the wall canvas.
It was a unique learning experience as they interviewed the craftsperson in the Craft
Bazaar and documented their research. The visit gave them a creative aesthetic
experience of the unique visual and material culture of India while aiming to develop
values of conservation and protection of the heritage of our country.

To further this idea, the school arranged an educational day visit for learners of Grade V to

the Gandhi Smriti, New Delhi on Saturday, 28th Sep 2019, organized by Flow India.

Visiting the Gandhi Smriti memorial provided a multidimensional experience to our

learners. In a group, they had a visual experience

of the simple living and high thinking

lifestyle of Gandhiji with fun-filled and

engaging activities.

only stood for but also practiced in real

life.

The entire visit gave students insights into

the life and teachings Gandhiji whose

In order to give the learners a real life

mathematical concepts, a trip to the
local supermarket was organized for the
learners of Grade VI from Tuesday,
22nd October 2019 to Friday, 25th
October 2019 during school hours.

Learners purchased gifts for their loved ones
keeping the budget in mind and with an aim to
save too. They helped their classmates select
items and find total spending as well. The visit
provided an outer world experience for the
learners which was an extension of their
classroom learning
Overall it was a fun-filled and great learning
experience for the learners as it helped them
enhance their organizational and social skills.

A session on 'International Education' was conducted for Grade XI students on 11.11.19
by a team of associates of the Times of India group.

Learners were asked to divide themselves
in 4 different groups. They were alloted
different tasks as follows:
Group 1 - To measure the Area and
Perimeter of the performance stage in the
Assembly area.
Group 2 - To find the Volume of a staircase
near stage.
Group 3 - To find the amount of Cement
required to construct the stage.
Group 4 - To find the area covered by a tile
in the wall behind the lift area. Learners
were asked to carry their measuring tapes.
Learners enjoyed this activity a lot as it
helped them gain practical knowledge.

have started the Research based
Assessment for grade VII, where the
learners went to visit the famous
Humayun’s tomb as a field trip on 27th
November 2019.

The Research Based Assessment is the second MT that has been carefully prepared for
the learners by keeping in the various aspects of other subjects. The whole new idea of
creating such a research based assessment is to give the learners an idea of
interdisciplinary studies. The field trip to Humayun’s Tomb was a part of the
interdisciplinary studies between Social Studies, English and Math. The trip was
organised by Flow India Organization where they had their team who gave an insight of
the whole monument to the learners. They took the learners to the corners of the
beautiful architectural monument where they learnt about the Mughal art and
architecture brilliance. Along with the historical information they also gave the learners
the open mind learning about various mathematical shapes present in the monument.

habits, imparting necessary knowledge related to work, and developing appropriate
work skills, which can help the children to become productive and self-reliant in
meeting their day-to-day needs and those of their families and communities. Over the
months learners have learnt and developed skills in the areas of their interest which
includes music , dance, painting, robotics , science , coding , aeromodelling, theatre
etc. Learners enjoy attending these clubs and have learnt to hone their skills under the

PAUDHAGIRI (20th Aug , 2019)

‘Be the change you wish to see in the world’
Learners of Grade-12 embarked on a plantation
drive called ‘Paudhagiri’ on 20th August 2019, a
Government of Haryana Initiative to increase
green belt in Haryana and to raise awareness
among students regarding immediate requirement
of plantations to restore the deteorating
environment. ‘I Plant, I Care’, with this fervour
each student brought a sapling to school and
planted it in the school field.

Learners were extremely engaged in the process and
were elated to contribute towards nature positively.
They were constructively involved with the school
gardeners and learnt about the growing conditions of
different plants. They could be seen with huge grins
spread across their faces. Students are now expected to
check on their plants every month and monitor their
growth. The planted saplings promise to raise awareness
of the current environmental hazards. Let’s all take a
step towards saving our earth!

Arjun Mittal of Lotus Valley International
School Class VI – NILE participated in the
implementation of Swach Bharat initiative in
Park View City – 1 (his residential
condominium). He along with his friends,
under the guidance of the managing
committee, undertook door to door
campaign to educate the house maids and
servants on the concept of waste
segregation and to re-iterate to the
residents on the critical need for proper
segregation at the source level. Waster
segregation concept has been implemented
in his condominium from 1 September 2019
and is running successfully.

For the contribution made, Arjun was also
given the opportunity to be one of the kids
to inaugurate the “Composting Plant” in the
condominium, which will significantly
contribute to Swach Bharat initiative of the
Government of India.

SWACHH BHARAT (24th Sep , 2019)

Inspired by the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,
Ishita Sharma of Grade XI took a decisive
step forward to address cleanliness issues in
the vicinity of the school. Extending the
Prime Minister’s call for cleanliness, she
strove to make the lane next to the school a
zero garbage and litter zone. She contacted
Mr. Ashwini Kumar, the councilor of ward-19
for help in cleaning the garbage and leveling
of the ground. This is the beginning of a
small step that can go a long was in
contributing to a sustainable and clean
environment. With little assistance and
consistency, we can make a big difference.

CAFÉ SENSE- ABLE (11th Oct, 2019)

“If you could see what I hear” – Café sense-able is an
initiative taken by community service work-ed and
grade 3 learners to step into the world of people with
Hearing and Visual Impairment and be more aware of
the similarities and differences that bring people
together and understand things beyond our own

Along with the learners, Grade 3 parents were part of
this celebration of inclusivity and diversity on Friday,
October 11, 2019. The event began with a medley of
‘motivational song and nukkad natak’ to sensitize the
gathering. Parents enthusiastically participated and
enjoyed Café session by doing activities in the classes
like placing order in sign language, preparing snacks
blind folded and Mute-O-Mania (dancing without
music). They were overwhelmed with the

also distributed as the
members spoke about
the ill effects of using

TAMANA FASHION SHOW

‘There’s no diversity without
Inclusion’
Lotus Valley International School,
Gurugram has been a flagbearer for
the cause of Inclusion. It was yet
another year of pride and glory for
our students to participate in the
Annual Mega Event- Tamana Fashion
Show – 2019- ‘My India , My Pride
held on 8th September 2019 at Hyatt
Regency .
This year’s show drew its inspiration
from India’s singular status as a
modern, leading economy engulfing
varied languages, festivals, religions
and traditions. Lotus Valley Fraternity
has long supported the cause and
each year endorses the thought
through their participation in the
same. The vivacity and exuberance of
the theme came through when the
Principal , Mrs. Anita Malhotra along
with the students Aditya Sharma
from Grade- XII and Tanya Mahajan
from Grade- XI walked the ramp,
hand in hand with the students of
Tamana ,donning the exquisite
designer clothing. The Headmistress-
Ms. Ritu Jawa has been as much a
part of the cause with her continued
participation as the Master of
Ceremony for the show. Heartfelt
thanks to Dr.Shayama Chona for the
opportunity.
We shall continue to provide our
impregnable support to the NGO-
Tamana and strive to work towards
creating an inclusive and unified

EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION TO DUBAI & ABU DHABI

(Grades V-VIII) 2nd – 5th Oct '19

The School Principal, Ms. Anita
Malhotra believes in grooming its
learners into global citizens with a
broad world view. To achieve the
same, an Educational Trip to Dubai
and Abu Dhabi was organized and
18 learners from Grades V-VIII
accompanied by Ms. Malvika Jain
and Ms Shalini Mahajan.
The learners visited several local
attractions in Dubai like Dhow
Cruise, Burj Khalifa, Dubai
Fountains, Glow Garden, Jumeirah
Beach and greatly enjoyed a guided
city tour showcasing Atlantis, Dubai
Skyline etc.

A visit to Abu Dhabi helped learners
appreciate the architectural marvel- The
Grand Mosque and conquer their fears by
riding the world’s fastest roller coaster at
Ferrari World. The highlight of the trip was
the Desert Safari where learners were
thrilled by Dune Bashing and enjoyed the
local cuisine.
The trip helped learners become
independent and responsible. The Young
Author’s Program helped them unleash
their creativity as they put their experiences
on paper to author a Coffee Table Book.
