PEACE

Wherever I go I see fights
Why don’t we understand we
have
Some Rules and some rights
But all we do is FIGHT
While the earth was elegant,
pure and white
We are ruining it by fighting day
and night.
Let’s come together
And make this world BRIGHT
As I know we can do it side by
side.

THE LIFE SAVER

Once upon the time, in Kerala, India It was 13 April 2006 when Samir, a 25 year old
sewage cleaner with bold eyes and a sharp nose and a black beard was cleaning a
sewer. While he smelt the poisonous smell of the killer oil in the sewer he found a
newspaper that said 612 people have died since 1993 die during sewage cleaning.
He was feeling very bad for the people. He there and then decided to do something
about it. The next day he left his job of cleaning the sewer. He starting working on
many ideas. First he made a roller robot which could clean the sewer while a human
controlling it with a remote, but because of a loose wire it failed. The next day next
morning he again started working on a robot and named it Kanny the auto sewage
cleaning robot. He made it in 4 years. He made the base of flexible metal with black
acrylic spray paint on it. He attached 2 wheels and a pair of supporters in it. It had a
hole at the bottom left corner which further connected the fuel tank through which
a mixture of Petrol and Diesel was allowed to pass through so that Kanny could
work. It had 7 LED lights each of different color that showed the working of it.
Finally it was 31 December 2010, the day that Samir had completed his invention
and just had to test it. Kanny successfully cleaned a sewer in Delhi, Haryana, India. It
cleaned the whole sewer of 565m in half an hour. The government of India also
appreciated Samir’s efforts. Samir made a factory in which he made more of Kannys.
He started sending it to Southern parts of India like Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It helped
a lot which was proven in the coming years like in 2012 the death of people that die
during cleaning the sewage was 50% less than ever. For his wonderful invention
Indian government awarded him the ‘SWADESHI PURASKAR’

STORY OF RAMU

Once there lived a poor family in a big village of Mumbai. There was a child named
Imphal with his parents Ramu and Sudarshini. Ramu was searching for a job to earn a
living since a long period of time. Finally got a job by a business man in the city. When
Ramu went there he also became very rich. After some time Ramu and his whole
family shifted in the city. Ramu used to waste money on silly things for his kid which
he did not require. His wife kept on making Ramu realize the importance of money.

money improving his own village living conditions. He started making many thing in
the village like roads, factories etc. This made the village a better place to live. The
government of India also appreciated this and gave the ‘SUNDAR DESH’ award to
Ramu. Other people were jealous from Ramu and started exploiting people of the
village so that it again becomes like it was earlier. They encouraged many evil
practices like Sati and Caste System in the village. To control this Ramu held talks with
the villagers. Finally after lot of efforts he could stop these. Getting angry for this a
businessman gave a contract to shoot Ramu to a bandit. The bandit planned to shoot

POLLUTION

Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that causes
adverse change. Industrialization coupled with our lifestyle and pollution free Earth
does not go hand in hand. As rightly said, ‘Human race itself is a plague to Mother
Nature’. Pollution is not only a concern, but also a monster that will engulf humanity
gradually.

Pollution is mainly divided into 3 types: Air pollution, Water pollution and Noise
pollution. Carbon dioxide from vehicles and sulphur dioxide from factories are
detrimental to our respiratory system and can lead to asthma and other respiratory
illnesses. To overcome it, we can use CNG, a more eco friendly fuel and undergo
regular vehicle maintenance. We can install certain lifestyle changes like reduced
usage of air conditioners that emit chlorofluorocarbons, which are hazardous for
protective ozone layer.

Another factor is growing number of factories and improper disposal of domestic
waste, which is a major contributor of water pollution. We should abide by ‘Swatch
Bharat’ guidelines in our community and society. Apart from this, excessive usage of
car horns and loud speakers should be avoided as it leads to noise pollution.

It goes without saying that we are responsible for India witnessing a steep rise in
pollution. So far, renewable energies are paving the way to mitigate the risk of climate
change. However, we must see how many countries address and take this matter
seriously in near future. For sure, we are running out of time and we need to tackle
pollution on war footing. Its duty of every citizen and country to provide a pollution
free earth to the generations to come.

DARE TO CHANGE NATURE IS PRECIOUS

Once I heard someone say, When lightning strikes ,
If you don’t change you do not grow, When stars shine bright ,
But I waved the thought away, When flowers bloom ,
For who were they to know, When rainbows loom ,
I’d always stayed the same, We enjoy the nature ,
A heart that thrived within the cold, But not so much later ,
And I had no desire to change, We throw a wrapper ,
At least that is what I had been told, We burst a cracker ,
But deep within my mind, There’s smoke everywhere
The thought grew bit by bit, filling the air ,
Until I felt trapped in my own skin, We leave on the lights ,
For it no longer seemed to fit, In spite of knowing what’s right ,
There is a whole world sitting out We let the water flow ,
there, And then we get to know ,
Changing every single day, What a waste it was ,
That proves there is nothing to be All the resources that we lost ,
scared of, So , if we want to exist in the future ,
If you do it the right way, We must conserve our nature.
For a day afraid to turn to night,
Will lose the silver moon, ANAHITA SINGAL & LAISHA JAIN
And a flower that refuses change, V CEDARS
Will never get to bloom,
I had thought that I was a thorn bush,
Only good for snagging clothes,
But if you don’t dare to change,
You’ll never find out you’re a rose.

PRIMA BALLERINA

Once upon a time there lived a poor girl called Lily. She was born in a poor family. She started working
for others at the age of 4. One day she got a job at the ballet school. By that time her age was 12. She
got impressed by the dance as she used to watch the children dance while working. She started
practicing the things she used to watch the children do. When her parents saw her passion for ballet,
they made her join the class she used to work for. The ballet teacher’s child was also aged 10 years and
she had also got her daughter to join the class. When the teacher saw Lily doing so well she got jealous
as her child was not doing as good as Lily. Lily was doing the best among all the students as she used to
practice daily at home. Her parents were proud of her and thought that she would make them famous
someday.

The teacher who used to teach the children ballet had a sister. Her sister also had a ballet school. So
one day the teacher’s sister challenged her to have a ballet competition. Whoever wins would also win
the school and both the ballet schools will be theirs. The teacher agreed to the challenge. The teacher
started selecting students for the competition. As she was jealous of Lily she thought that she would
select the rest of the students and not select Lily. She did exactly as per the plan.

Lily felt sad but she still had hope that maybe she was not doing well that’s why the teacher did not
select her and now she should practice harder. She started practicing day and night. Finally it was the
day of the competition and she went to watch it. Lily’s ballet school was badly losing and so Lily’s ballet
school teacher thought to call Lily or else her ballet school will soon be her sister’s. She quickly but
quietly called Lily and dressed her up for the competition. When Lily completed performing she saw
that her school’s score was more than the other school’s score. They had nearly won!

They just needed one more, good ballerina to get 3 more medals and these three more medals were
gotten by Tina, Lily’s friend who was also very good in ballet. Her school had won. The teacher thanked
Lily and understood not to be selfish again.

Now Lily was a very famous ballerina. After a few years when she was 15 years old she performed a
very famous ballet dance that she was graded as a prima ballerina*. Now as she was a prima ballerina
she was very rich and famous. She lived in a huge house and had a lot of fans. Her parents were proud
of her and were very grateful to God for giving them such a talented daughter.

MORAL: Work hard to succeed in life.

• Prima ballerina is a very high position in ballet.
It is a grade in ballet.

THE MIRROR LIES

They say that beauty is pain but over the holidays, weight is all I gain
Tried all the diets then quit them all in vain
Strange eyes pierce through mine in disdain.
Wearing my mascara black and my lipstick pink afraid to breathe or to even think
Watching my identity slowly sink,
I want it to be over as soon as I blink
Flashing smiles through sucked-in stomachs, gave it a couple tries
But every time I look in the mirror, to my face it lies
Slowly but surely soon my confidence dies
Because the moment I show the real me, I am judged by those same strange eyes
Wanted to make a difference, did not know it would take so much patience
Now I am questioning everything in frustration
Had the bricks of hope but, could not find a mason.
Yes I am flawed and even tainted,
But I don’t see a difference in a face that’s raw or a one that’s painted
I am beginning to realize that this lie that the mirror reflected
Is not going to leave me affected
Cause beauty may be pain
But showing my true identity is a delightful game

THE WINSOME SKY My PS4

I am in love with that colour of the sky My PS4 is great,
Which looks like you have baked a pie; It was a long wait.
So quixotic it is I finally got it because of my traits,
That it almost makes me want to fly. For this I have a good fate.
I fancy the shades of blue
Which are hidden in the vast sky, Earthlings; it doesn’t even need rest,
How mesmerizing they look It gives me quite a zest.
When the sun is about to say good To you it must be a knick-knack,
bye. But, to me it’s worth a million lakhs
I admire the glue white clouds
And the freeness they reflect, Hey, don’t think it’s lame,
The birds almost proud Or I will be full of fury & flame.
That they thrive with them.
I am in love with the glimmering stars VRISHANK KUTHIALA
And the beauty that shines from them. VI BEAS
Thinking about How pure they are
Makes me believe that its all bizarre.
And the list can just go on
As gazing up at the sky gives me
immense joy
For it is the only thing in the world
That the humans have not destroyed...

What Was That Thing? Then I heard the sound again
What could it be?
As I lay in bed, I looked at my clock, An angel?
Twelve A.M., not much of a shock. A cat?
Lying in bed each night A dog?
Pondering over thoughts is a habit of A monster?
mine. And suddenly, the sound started to
terrify me
Then I heard a faint shuffle, Then I heard the creak of a rusty door
But I ignored it and paid it no heed. hinge
For I had seen and heard many things And shortly after, a pleasant ‘ding’!
Which were capable of sowing a seed, Of the elevator
Far down my corridor
Of doubt, of fear.
Of belief in vampires and spirits I blinked and when I opened my eyes
And ghosts. It was right there!
But I knew better Right in front of me!
Than to believe in them.
The thing
So, I lay in bed With a bloody mouth
At two past twelve A.M. Misshapen face
Pondering over random ideas Staring down at me
My mind swimming in idle thoughts.
Snap! I was awake
Breathing hard
And now I wasn’t so sure
About the nonexistence of

SUPERCELL STORMS

It was a bright sunny day, not a cloud in the sky, but who knew about the storm
that was brewing up hundreds of miles away. Everyone, including Alissa, was busy
preparing for the big family picnic the next day. Alissa’s friends and family were
coming and she was super excited. Alissa could hardly sleep that day and she
woke up early, totally unlike her. They started their journey at around ten o’ clock
and reached the picnic site in about three hours. Alissa looked at her surroundings
as her family was unpacking their supplies. It was a beautiful place, with flowers
all around and butterflies fluttering about. The only thing that Alissa thought
shouldn’t be there was an old cabin. It was rusty and the paint was coming out.
The windows were still intact, but barely. The door was slanting in an angle which
was a bit worrisome. There was also a patio, but it was just as same as the rest of
the cabin.

“Hello Alissa,” someone said behind her, it was Alissa’s aunt, Aunt Rose.

“Hey Aunt Rose,” Alissa said.

Her aunt hugged her, and, within a few minutes, almost everyone, even some
whom she didn’t know, hugged her. Once everyone was settled and Alissa actually
had time to breathe, she ventured into the cabin. It was a very unsettling place,
and she even thought that she saw a mouse scurrying on the floor. There were
spider webs all around the cabin and some spiders going here and there. She
couldn’t stay there any longer, so she left. That’s when she looked at the sky for
the first time since she had gotten there, and she saw black clouds gathering in
the distance. A thunderstorm was approaching, but, unlike thunderstorms, there
was an eerie green tint in the clouds.

“Um, guys, I think a thunderstorm is approaching,” she said, but no one heard her,
so she raised her voice and repeated her sentence. Everyone looked at her, then
towards the clouds, and some of them gulped.

“That’s not a thunderstorm, “Her mother said gravely, “That’s a tornado.”

YOUNG MINDS AT WORK

Continued…

Everything went quickly after that. Everyone began talking in an urgent voice, but,
before anyone could even decide what to do, it started raining heavily. The rain
pelted on Alissa’s bones, a chill going down her spine. Her family had finally stopped
talking and went to stand on the patio. After a few minutes, the rain stopped. It had
only been a minute or so before hail started dropping from the sky, but stopped
almost as soon as it had started. Alissa had never seen weather change like that
before, and that’s when she saw it! It was a thick funnel just a few miles away and it
rotated and rotated until it touched the ground. No one had the power to move and
they all stood in shock and amazement, but Alissa shook that off and yelled, “Into
the cabin, NOW!” Everyone dropped their gaze and ran into the cabin, but it was too
late. The tornado was almost on top of them. Alissa didn’t care about the spiders or
the webs or the rat, she ran into the cabin. She crouched near the wall and put her
hands on top of her head to protect it, just like the tornado drills at school. There
wasn’t enough space for everyone to fit and that’s when her Aunt Rose was caught
in the strong winds of the tornado.

“AAAAHHHH!” Aunt Rose yelled.

Everyone looked up and saw her holding the door for her dear life. Alissa’s mom got
up and was going to help her, but as she took her first step, Aunt Rose lost her grip
and flew right into the heart of the storm, but no one had time to react. The roof of
the cabin ripped off, and everyone started yelling. This was it, Alissa knew it, she
went to her mom and dad, and they held her tight, saying their goodbyes, and one
by one, everyone got sucked up by the fierce tornado. Alissa closed her eyes just as
the tornado sucked her up too. Her whole life flashed before her bright blue eyes.
Alissa had always dreamt of flying, but this was never how she imagined it.
Everyone’s cars were like missiles, trying to hit her and her relatives who were also
in the tornado..

Continued…..

YOUNG MINDS AT WORK

Continued….

The noise was too deafening, especially now that she was actually in the storm;
take the loudest sound you have ever heard, and multiply it by a hundred.
Suddenly, by a miracle, the tornado dissipated, dropping Alissa down towards the
ground, but she wasn’t that high, she was only about ten feet above the air, so it
did hurt, but it wasn’t too bad. She got up and looked around; finding her parents
sprawled on the ground with blood streaming down their faces

Mom!” she yelled, crying, “Dad!”

She knew that there was no time to waste, she began looking around, and saw
that there were shops everywhere. She went inside one, but there was no one;
she began running, ignoring her ankle, which had probably twisted as she fell
down. She ran from shop to shop until she found a shop clerk who was crouching
under his desk.

“I need your help, my family is badly hurt, and I need to get them to the hospital.
Can you please help?” She asked, her eyes pleading.

“Ok,” the shop clerk said, realizing that the disaster was over.

They were halfway to where her parents were lying, when another tornado
started forming, right in front of her eyes. ‘This was it’, she thought, ‘It just had to
be a supercell storm,’ and she ran.

Christmas Miracles

The leaves of the Christmas tree were bowed down because of the heavy ornaments;
it was as if a lady had overwhelmed herself with too much silk and jewellery.
Christmas carols filled the air and music was flowing all around the houses, shops and
buildings. Every tree, every shrub, every lamp and every door was buried with lights
and even the star studded sky seemed to dazzle with Christmas glow.

Aaron tucked his nose under the collar and pressed his hands in his pockets tightly.
“Merry Christmas” someone shouted in the distance. At that Aaron couldn’t help but
give a bitter laugh. “Merry Christmas indeed” he whispered to himself. He was sitting
on the side of a shop. His legs pulled to his chest and eyes hungrily searching for
someone to give him food or money. Of course, no one did. He pulled himself to his
feet and started walking towards the local fair running in town. His pace suddenly
increased and his head was bowed, before he knew it he had bumped into a man. He
made a great show of falling down as the man fell on his back. Aaron quickly got up,
“Sorry Sir! Didn’t see you, I was in a hurry, here let me help you.” He offered the
young man a hand and knelt down, “here’s your hat” and instead of giving it to the
man he tried to place it on his head, thus blocking the man’s view with his arm and
quickly slid his fingers into the man’s pocket and took out some notes. The man
groaned, still in a daze and went away muttering something about kids being in a
hurry all the time.

Aaron grunted, this world wasn’t a world for miracles to happen, and certainly not for
a boy like him. He turned and yet again bumped into the same young man he had met
a while ago. Aaron fell and suddenly his surroundings were covered with a light mist.
The young man smiled and kneeled down, “Now if you would want miracles to really
happen, wouldn’t you have to try doing few things differently?” Aaron didn’t know
what to say, before he could even open his mouth the man said “Well here’s a chance
for you Aaron to try and make a difference.” “What difference?” Aaron asked
mystified.

Continued…

YOUNG MINDS AT WORK

Continued…….
“You’ll see”. The man dissolved in the mist like a shadow and was no longer there.
Aaron looked around and a shock of pain hit him. He squeezed his eyes shut, his
head started throbbing and then he opened his eyes and it was morning. It was the
morning of Christmas! He instantly got on his feet and leaned against a wall. “What
was that? Was that a dream? Perhaps,” he told himself. Aaron took a shaky breath
and started walking towards the local market. Suddenly he saw a boy who seemed
completely lost and seemed to be desperately looking for someone. A realisation
suddenly hit Aaron, “What if miracles did not happen, but he was the one who had
to create them?” While he was stuck in his thoughts he suddenly saw a woman
frightfully looking here and there and he immediately realised that the lady was the
boy’s mother, without giving a second thought he quickly pulled the boy towards
him and rushed him towards his mother. As soon as the lady saw her son she gave a
cry of relief and hugged her son. She then gathered herself and gave a tight hug to
Aaron, “You have saved my life! Thank you, I could never thank you enough.” She
dragged Aaron to come with her to their home and was adamant that she would
not let go off Aaron without him atleast having a hot bowl of soup at their place. He
reached their place and could see smiling faces all around. “That’s it” he realised “I
have to take these small brave steps until who knows, I may lead a happy life.” He
could feel his chest filled with happiness and satisfaction. He lifted his head and his
lips curved into a smile. If miracles won’t happen for him, he would create them for
himself.
A young man looked at Aaron from the other side of the road, smilingly, tipped his
hat and turned and went away. “Merry Christmas!” shouted Aaron.

Respected Ma’am,

A heartfelt thankyou for adding countless moments to my treasured LVIS memorabilia. What we
witnessed was sheer, unadulterated MAGIC. The magic that transposed us to a different world; the
magic that left us awestruck; the magic that made us believe that are munchkins are true prodigies;
the magic that made us cheer for an encore; the magic that once again demonstrated the expertise,
craftsmanship and creativity of the mentors; the magic that further strengthened our belief in the LVIS
Leadership !!
“Theatre” has always made my heart skip a beat and bring a twinkle in my eyes and when my child, at
the age of 8, gets this unique, immersive learning experience without me being
burdened/troubled/loaded with anything extra, I have all the reasons to feel elated. Thankyou for
cultivating a platform where imagination holds equal importance as knowledge.
I can endlessly thank the entire team for the ‘moment of pride’ we went through….but it surely will be
a repetition.
Besides the core team, I want to appreciate Deepali’s efforts for flawlessly making arrangements for
the transport (there was a day when my route bus travelled the entire distance only for 1 kid…while
the other days the max were 5).
And, please pardon me for this too informal and cheesy statement, but aapki teachers kaunsi chakki ka
aata khati hain ? :)
There were whatsapp updates as early as 7 am. Until 9 p.m. Explicit details to even the tiniest of
intricacy. Besides managing the regular school schedule, rehearsals, snapapp, parent queries and their
personal life too. And not to forget, that extreme micro management of the costumes. If my brain was
a CPU, it would have gone bizarre and behaved like a zombie with this amount of pressure. I bow down
to their energy , spirit and PATIENCE !!

a refreshing experience to watch so many children act and dance in such synchronised manner.
Every child seemed to perfectly coordinated. From stage, to sets, to lighting ,to dialogues and
production everything was at a professional level.
The choir group discreetly positioned in one Corner were the star of the show.
Big thanks to Ms. Bubbles Sabharwal and Ms. Lucien Dubey for achieving this mammoth feat.
Diya has been incessantly speaking about the play and the amount of hard work the team has
been putting in for the play.
Special thanks to Ritu maam for organising doughnuts for the hungry kids at rehearsals. You
truly treat our children as family.
Congratulations again team lotus valley.

Danish Aggarwal

Respected Ritu maam

Thanks for inviting us for an enriching event held as a part of the Prep-Marigolds assembly today. Starting from the
theme, the stage setup (with an apt backdrop), the concept couple with the flawless and confident performance
made it a truly amazing experience.

We congratulate the principal maam and you for creating an environment that nurtures creativity and makes the
learners confident is diverse aspects leading to a holistic growth. Today's theme just also made us realize how Hindi
language does connect us to our core values and our culture. It was heartening to see that young learners are being
taught about accepting and adopting Hindi through such events and in a fun way.

Our heartiest congratulations to the entire team of teachers especially the class teachers who have worked so hard
to bring out the best in every kid. Every kid was outstanding in the delivery of dialogues, the act, the expression and
the dance. An exemplary effort by the class teachers to bring out the best of talent in the young learners.

As a concluding line and in line with the theme of "ह िंदी हदवस",we would like to use the limited vocabulary of hindi :)
Thanks again for taking the school towards newer heights of success by creating an environment that encourages
contemporary pedagogies that are extremely effective and help bring the best out of the learners.
Many congratulations!

Deepak Thakur

Dear Madam,

This is to express our joy, satisfaction and gratitude on recently concluded Nainital trip
attended by my daughter Ms. Dhriti Thakur, student of class IX Everest (sister of Ms Diya
Thakur). It was a wonderful experience under the leadership of Ms. Priyanka Bhagat and Ms.
Poornima.
She fell ill during the trip but she was handled with utmost care and affection. At the same
time, we were continuously given comfort messages and calls. We are highly obliged by this
very nice gesture of LVIS staff under your visionary guidance.

We were equally enthralled by continuous update and notification of proceedings via pics,
videos and google map navigation in the whatsapp group.

We wish LVIS team all the success and many more memorable trips.
