ROBUST READING Vanshika Gupta - Grade IV Gulmohars Vanshika Gupta, an articulate learner of Grade IV Gulmohars believes reading is quintessential as it provides an opportunity to seek and rise above the ordinary while being a road map to countless adventures. Her first book entitled ‘Growing up with Cheeka and Peeka’ is a tale of two mischievous little naughty cats and their experiences, which bring to fore important life lessons and moral values. The ability to use words, to shape an imagined reality is the best way to work with heart and dedication. At Lotus Valley International School, we provide numerous opportunities to develop children’s literary skills as they are one of the strongest indicators of a child’s future achievements. To tingle and amplify the ingenuity of our young learners, the school forges and fosters a robust reading culture. We believe when learners read extensively, they become better writers. Reading a variety of genres helps them learn text structures and language that they can then transfer to their own writing. It, therefore, gives us immense pleasure to present the first books authored by our zealous leaners – Vanshika Gupta and Aashvi Rao Sharma.

ROBUST READING Aashvi Rao - Grade IV Ashokas Another talented young author, Aashvi Rao Sharma of Grade IV Ashokas, has sported a relentless love for reading books and enjoys exploring books from different genres. She believes that reading and writing books has helped her gain selfconfidence and ability to express herself more clearly. Her book titled ‘Story of Two Friends’ is based on her personal experience, when her childhood friend had to relocate to another country with her parents. However, the two little girls were pleasantly surprised when they soon realized that distance doesn't matter when the roots of friendship are strong enough. Both the books with eye-catching illustrations are well paced and a must read. We heartily congratulate Vanshika and Aashvi for their accomplishments and look forward to their future works!

‘There are many little ways to enlarge your world. Love of books is the best of all.’ At Lotus Valley International School, it has been our consistent endeavour to inculcate the habit of reading in our young learners. We believe that through reading, children learn about people, places and events outside their own experience. They are exposed to ways of life, ideas and beliefs about the world. Moreover, reading a variety of genres enables them to learn text structures and language that they can then transfer to their own writing. We are, therefore, immensely pleased to share that our budding writer, Rabjot Singh Guliani of Grade III Cuckoos has made us proud with the publication of his second book – ‘Talking Gadgets’. Rabjot had published his first book on Idioms when he was in Grade I. His new comic book revolves around every child’s fantasy and brings gadgets to life. Along with adding humour to the story, the talking gadgets also emphasize upon the importance of family time. The book is a must-read book for all age groups and is beautifully illustrated. We heartily congratulate Rabjot for his accomplishments and wish him good luck in his future endeavours! BUDDING AUTHOR Rabjot Singh Guliani, Grade III Cuckoos

Writing is an important part of our daily lives. With the help of simple and intersting activities, we help our learners to develop writing skills at an early age. By doing so, we hope to contribute to their future success as students and as adults while teaching them how to express themselves. We also endeavour to inculcate the habit of reading in our young learners as we firmly believe that books are one of the best sources to provide inspiration, thoughts as well as reflection to the young minds. Parinika, a learner of Grade 2 Parrots, loves to read and books take her into her own world of fantasy. She awaits bedtime story time with her father. A beautiful unicorn diary gifted by her aunt brought out the writer in her when she started maintaining her diary at the age of 6. Her zeal for writing was further noticed and encouraged by her Grade I Class Mentor, Ms. Shivani Suneja. Consequently, she published not one but two different books. Her brother helped her with the editing and selection of illustrations. Her book titled Princess Unica is about a brave princess named Unica who loves her family and would take all possible measures to protect them. But this time the problem is bigger than Unica had ever imagined. Will she be able to save her family? The Attack is yet another imagination of hers, where a family of dolls is attacked by monsters and their hiding place is also compromised. What will happen to the dolls now? Both the books are well paced and a must read. We heartily congratulate Parinika for her accomplishments and look forward to her next book. BUDDING AUTHOR Parinika, Grade II Parrots The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE Grades IV - VIII "No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it." – H.E. Luccock Developing fruitful association with learners and parents is one of the most satisfying facets of teaching. Effective Parent-Teacher communication lays a strong foundation for the learner's holistic development. Considering the importance of this teamwork, Lotus Valley International School organised the first Parent-Teacher Conference for the Academic Session 2023-24 for Grades PN to VIII on 6th and 20th May respectively. The rendezvous was a twoway communiqué that helped both mentors and parents to understand their wards’ strengths and weaknesses. The endeavour also helped parents develop a fair understanding of the criticality of their role which is imperative for the trinity triangle of the Mentors, Learners and Parents to work for the successful development of their child. These candid discussions play a crucial role in strengthening the relationship between parents and teachers, ultimately benefitting the student's educational journey.

The meeting concluded with mentors sharing plans for each learner’s optimum advancement in the year ahead while the parents gave valuable feedback and showcased gratitude towards the school for further enhancing children’s confidence, facilitating knowledge and nurturing them with care. After a fruitful interaction, parents visited the Book Fair organized by the school. The racks were stocked with age -appropriate books for children from a variety of genres. Parents were guided to reduce learners’ screen time and create an empowering environment that inculcates a love for reading amongst them. By establishing trust, gaining insights, addressing concerns, and setting goals collaboratively, parents and teachers can create an optimal learning setting that supports the holistic development of each child.
