CAREER COUNSELLING SESSIONS Grades IX - XII “The world’s greatest achievers have been those who have always stayed focused on their goals and have been consistent in their efforts.” To empower the students with a discernment to syphon their yearnings and predilections to devour the right opportunity at first instance different sessions were organized at Lotus Valley International School for Grades IX to XII on Career Cruising and Overseas application Strategy in association with Ms. Hima Mal, founder and career coach at Ikigaii Education Services, a school division of KC Overseas Education. The session commenced with warm welcome of the resource person, taking over the session she spearheaded to enchant the students with a cornucopia of information regarding profile building and specific application strategies.


CAREER COUNSELLING SESSIONS Grades IX - XII She informed learners to stay focused on enhancing students' profiles with concepts such as intellectual vitality, which she believes is the basis for every student's profile enhancement. Dilettantes were explained how their application not only should showcase their triumphs but also reflect their passion. She further detailed specific application strategies and points to be kept in mind while drafting their unique profile. In the end, once again prominence was laid on the prime objective that every learner who embarks on this journey comes out on the other side completely self-aware, successful and ready to begin life as a college student at his/ her dream college. Queries raised by the learners were well addressed by the resource person and all the required information, weblinks and contact details were also shared. The session turned out to be extremely inspiring and interactive for the learners.


NOOR – E - QUAFILA Farewell Grade XII 2022 - 23 “Goodbyes make you think. They make you realize what you’ve had, what you’ve lost, and what you can take forward.” Music and laughter reverberated through the corridors of Lotus Valley International School, Gurugram as learners of Grade Xl gathered to bid farewell on 16th April 2023 to the outgoing batch of Grade Xll . The young adults were welcomed to NOOR-EQUAFILA with the ceremonious ‘tika’ of sandalwood. Ruhaaniyat...raga of memories was presented by the Grade XI choir expressing their fond memories in a melodious rendition. Amidst much enthusiasm, began the conferring of citations on the passingout batch by our revered DirectorPrincipal, Ms Anita Malhotra. In her heartfelt message to the outgoing students, Ma'am showered her blessings and wished them luck.


She also stressed to etch the values learned at school in hearts forever as they would help them taste the forthcoming freedom with responsibility. The uncontrived speech by the Headboy Aryaman Bisht, and the Headgirl Mahak Dutta invigorated the hearts of all. Furthermore, the electrifying and scintillating dance performance Jashne- Mehfil left everyone grooving for more! The vote of thanks extended by the Deputy Head Girl Kiana Malik and Deputy Head Boy, Abhie Gupta and a video highlighting the unfathomable memories was overwhelming. As quoted by DirectorPrincipal Ma'am- Dear Children, "May you always do your best… And let our school's legacy be your crest. CAREER COUNSELLING SESSION Grades X - XII Ms. Khush shared information on various career trends and opportunities in the foreign world of education. She emphasized the importance of achieving a good SAT score and provided tips on how to stand out when applying to dream universities. She also stressed the need for proper planning and filtering out colleges based on desired criteria and achieved scores. The session concluded with addressing the learners queries and concerns. A feedback form was circulated among the attendees to gather their views on the session. Overall, the session was interactive and enriching, helping learners broaden their options and gain valuable insights. “All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them” To ensure proper guidance is given to each child dreaming of getting admission to overseas universities, the school organized career counselling sessions for students in grades X-XII on May 19, 2023. The sessions were conducted by Ms. Shivani Khush, a spokesperson for EduQuest, one of the leading SAT coaching institutes. The session began with a warm greeting from guest speaker Ms. Shivani Khush, who is known for her extensive knowledge of study abroad programs and a strong understanding of educational systems. With 10 years of experience in guiding students and expertise in visa and admission processes, she provided valuable insights tailored to the students needs.

CLASS ASSEMBLIES Grades IV to XII : April 2023 We, at Lotus Valley, believe that school assemblies are one of the most important aspects of a school's curriculum. It has the potential to nurture a positive school ethos that stresses care for the self, others, and the pursuit of all forms of excellence. It powerfully nurtures the development of intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence, fostering a feeling of unity and a positive school culture among the students and staff. In simple words gathering strengthens the way a school works. Assemblies are an essential start to a child’s day and a significant influence in helping them grow into responsible adults with a well-developed sense of community. When done right, they become more than just a gathering; what follows is a positive contribution to pupil’s selfdevelopment. Assemblies enable young and old to pause, reflect, and think deeply about themselves, their world, and beyond. In fact, it prompts learning of the highest order. Lotus Valley mindfully plans assemblies that have an enriching quality by associating the theme with meaningful experiences of the children to make it relevant and real to them. These assemblies become influential events to instill camaraderie and a sense of school spirit while developing the ideas of belonging to something larger than the self.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY BUDDHA PURNIMA - Relevance of Buddhist Ideology in Today’s Era Grades X Monarch & Fuji : May 2023 “There is no path to Happiness. Happiness is the path.” Buddhism, as one of the four major religions in the world today, is an empiricist and antimetaphysical religion. The morning of Thursday, 4th May 2023, began with an exuberant assembly presented by the learners of Grades X Fuji and X Monarch on the theme ‘Buddha Poornima’. The assembly commenced with the oration of the prayer by Director-Principal Ms. Anita Malhotra, followed by the school choir’s recital of a prayer-song, the thought of the day, and the news in an ingenious manner. Learners presented a skit, portraying the essence of the Noble Eightfold Path propounded by Siddharth Gautama. This was followed by a mellifluous rendition of ‘Cover Me in Sunshine,’ which inspired and elevated the spirits of the audience. A foot-tapping dance charged up the atmosphere and cheered the mood of the assemblage, further enabling both the sections to achieve their ambition of cultivating emotions of empathy and righteousness amongst the spectators. The assembly was concluded by the class teachers - Ms. Preeti Makhija and Ms. Reena Dalal, followed by an insightful experience shared by Vivaan Banerjee, Aaira Katoch, and Ayan Bhola about the Cyber Safety Campaign attended by them. The assembly culminated with the felicitation of blossoming lotusians: Ishant Gupta of X Andes (Gold medal), Sidhhansh of Grade IX Kanchenjunga (Silver medal), and Rashesh Agarwal of Grade IX Kanchenjunga, who won laurels at the 37th National ITF Taekwondo Championship at Tyagraj Stadium. Aryav Mathur received the Champion's award (Overseas) at the First Lego League (FLL) journey, followed by the enlightening words of our Director-Principal, Anita Malhotra ma’am, which encouraged the learners to lead a life of rectitude and integrity in this increasingly unprincipled and iniquitous era.

NATIONAL CONSULTATIVE MEET ON PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT TO VICTIMS OF CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE , April 2023 Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (KSCF), founded by Nobel Peace Laureate Shri Kailash Satyarthi, organized a National Consultative meet on 11th April 2023 to promote the concept of mental health support for child survivors. The event witnessed participation of the duty bearers from the government system, functionaries of NGOs, and technical specialists from the field of psychology who are key stakeholders in ensuring the well-being of the children who are survivors of child sexual abuse. Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi addressed the gathering and emphasized on each one of us doing our bit to make the world safe for children. The event was attended by Ms. Ritu Jawa, Vice Principal and Ms. Preeti, Psychology facilitator and School Counsellor. Ms. Ritu, as a panelist on “Role of Educational Institutions vis a vis Government in Handling Mental Health Issues of Victims of Child Sexual Abuse”, spoke about the best practices we follow at Lotus Valley International School. She reiterated the need for an organized approach towards handling children in a sensitive manner. With her extensive experience, she gave examples from daily life to convey her point to the audience. She also expressed her keen interest in empowering our learners (Lotusians) and making them changemakers. The event culminated with a case presentation by Ms. Preeti, where she highlighted the steps to form rapport with children. She listed some do’s and don’ts to be used while dealing with sensitive cases and dominant discourses that only label and burden the children.

LVISG INDUSTRY CONNECT PROGRAMME Educational Visit to Medanta- The Medicity Grade XII : May 2023 “If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow.” At Lotus Valley, we believe in teaching beyond the textbooks and have been building industry linkages to enhance and enrich the learning experiences of the learners. Keeping the same in view, a visit to the health industry, Medanta, Gurugram, was organized for the Biology students of Grades XII on Tuesday, 2nd May '23. The main objective of the industrial visit was to provide students with insight into the practical applications of the concepts learned in theory classes. Learners were provided with an opportunity to observe and understand the principles of working of the blood bank, HLA typing, blood group testing, transfusion concept, preservation of blood, karyotyping, etc. Learners were fascinated to visit the Blood Bank and observed the preparation, process, and principles of blood collection and storage. The visit to the Biochemistry and Hematology laboratory with a pneumatic shoot system and the most high-tech facilities for diagnostics was an attraction for the learners. Doctors explained and demonstrated how to maintain a sterile ambience in the laboratory during various processes. Learners were delighted to see various Hi-Tech equipment in the biochemistry and hematology lab used to diagnose body samples. The visit to the clinical research domain at Medanta Institute of Education and Research and the detailed interactive discussions with Dr. Pooja Aggarwal and her team inspired the learners to have the right approach towards their career, research, and the trending research areas. The visit was extremely informative as it broadened the horizons of our young learners, and inspired them to work hard and enjoy the process of success.

GROUP COUNSELLING - Emotions Bench Grade IX : May 2023 “True artistic expression lies in conveying emotions” - Angel Haze. Emotions are what make us human. The word ‘emotion’ stands for energy in motion. It is important to know how we feel, how to respond, and how to let life in so that it can touch you. Group Counselling Sessions were conducted for the learners of Grade IX to focus on how our emotions need to be as educated as our intellect. The session began with an exploration of different types of emotions, then moved to a group activity in which the learners were encouraged to portray the feelings that had been assigned to them in various contexts. Followed by reflection time, in which the learners participated in an open debate about how they regulate their emotions. Every learner actively participated in the session with genuine interest and comprehension. This session's goal was to practice communicating feelings, thoughts, and emotions to others and increase selfawareness and identify their emotional needs. Thereby, facilitating personal growth by understanding and managing one's emotions.

GROUP COUNSELLING Bring Your Imagination to Life - Grade X , May 2023 “You don’t have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you.” Emotions, thinking, and learning are all intertwined. Socialization, teamwork, and cooperation come together with creativity in a beautiful way. Art Therapy offers a means of expression for the innermost feelings and thoughts, fostering peace and acceptance inside oneself. Group Counselling Sessions were conducted for the learners of Grade X and focused on using various artistic mediums such as drawing, painting, collage, and colouring, to convey inner feelings, experiences, and thoughts. The session began with an overview of art therapy. The learners had to illustrate themselves in a boat on a turbulent sea. The tumultuous water being a metaphor for the challenges faced in one’s life, such as the transition from childhood to adolescence. During the reflection time, learners took note of the emotions that appeared to come to life in the artwork. Each learner actively participated in the class with enthusiasm and curiosity. The session was brought to its conclusion with mindfulness. Through the use of this art therapy technique, the session's goal was to improve the understanding of oneself and one’s emotions.

GROUP COUNSELLING Empathy Building - Grade XII : July 2023 “The great gift of human beings is that we have the power of empathy. We can all sense a mysterious connection to each other.” The aim of the empathy-building group activity was to encourage Grade XII learners to develop a deeper understanding of their peers, fostering empathy and appreciation for each other's likable characteristics. By participating in a podcast-style setup where learners introduced their fellow classmates and highlighted their likable traits, the activity aimed to create a positive and supportive atmosphere within the classroom. The session began by pairing the learners, ensuring that each learner was paired with someone they might not know well or with whom they haven't interacted extensively. The concept of a podcast and how it provides an opportunity for individuals to share their thoughts, ideas, and stories with a wider audience was explained. After all the introductions were completed, the learners gathered together and reflected on how it feels to be appreciated for their likable traits. Grade XII learners had the chance to develop stronger relationships with their peers by participating in this activity that fostered empathy and understanding. They developed an appreciation for one another's distinctive qualities, creating a more upbeat and encouraging learning environment.


GROUP COUNSELLING Money vs Passion - Grade XI : July 2023 “If my mind can conceive it, my heart can believe it, I know I can achieve it!” Vision Board is an effective way to get learners thinking about their future paths and what their long-term and short-term dreams are. It serves as a daily reminder of what they want to achieve and motivates them to turn their vision into reality. Learners create visual representations of their goals through pictures and words, and they reflect on whether they want to pursue money or their passion. With this in mind, Group Counseling Sessions were conducted with learners of Grade XI in the month of May 2023. The highlight of the session was the creation of vision boards, aimed at exploring the complex relationship between pursuing a career for monetary gains and following one's passion. Art supplies were provided to the students, and they were instructed to create vision boards that reflected their aims, objectives, and the harmony between money and passion that they perceive in the world. Through this exercise, they were able to express their wishes and aspirations for the future. The session, involving discussions, activities, and the creation of vision boards, encouraged learners to reflect on their aspirations and consider the balance between financial stability and personal fulfilment. The session promoted selfawareness and critical thinking, empowering the learners to make informed choices regarding their future careers. It is hoped that the insights gained from this session will guide students as they navigate the choices that lie ahead.

ADOBE AI-THON Round 1 - July 14th – July 27th Two teams of five learners each from Lotus Valley International School, Gurugram participated in the Adobe AIthon conducted in TWO Phases – where one problem statement will be shared in each round. Round 1 from July 14th – July 27th & Round 2 from July 27th – August 20th. Our both the teams qualified the first round. shortlisted teams are called at Adobe head office, Noida on 29th July 2023 for Round 2, based on your Round 1 assignment performance.

IGRAASP April to July 2023 Igraasp is a weekly news channel catered towards children and families. It runs a robust anchoring program with school students. Numerous of our young learners have showcased their outstanding abilities in public speaking by hosting these informative segments in both English and Hindi. This opportunity not only allows them to refine their skills in public speaking but also enhances their self-assurance. Needless to say, such opportunities add to their portfolio for future career opportunities.
