Developmental Activities
Developmental activities include the implementation of technology into the Honors
History and Appreciation of the Art-Crafts course by imparting in them the knowledge
of two different software applications, Camtaisia 8 and Adobe Spark. Adobe Spark is
one of the newer Adobe applications and is taught through a hands on method, while
the Camtaisia 8 application is taught through directional materials created. These
applications allow them to tell a digital story or make a video about their journey
through the semester with their artist. The students choose an artist of the Arts and Crafts
Movement Era and they pay homage to that artist through all of their works for the
semester. They then create a video or digital story based on all of those created works
incorporating that artist in the video. They are encouraged to give a creative storyline
that allows the viewer to learn about the artist through their works.

TKI-2413-01, 02, 03, H04– History and Appreciation of the Art-Crafts,
CO-3403 Photographic Communication
I am now moving in on my fifth year teaching the History and Appreciation of the Art-Crafts, and I love it
even more now than when I first got started. Each semester I find a better way of clarifying to the
students how to accomplish their objectives and I realize that they are completing them much faster
which allows them to get to the most complicated situations and give those more time. I have broken
down each class section by timed objectives for them to accomplish all processes of each project, this
helps them to be accountable for each step taken and for the class as a whole to get all of the necessary
information, as well for myself to be more efficient with each class time.
I find myself wanting to push my students to new heights in their lives since they don’t realize what they
are capable of creatively. With that in mind, the next adventure that I plan to impart to my students is a
glass molding project.
I have once again had the opportunity of working with a new student worker; this is always extremely
helpful in the success of these classes. There is much preparation, clean up and assistance during the
class periods, that I don’t know how it would successfully get accomplished without the help of
awesome student workers.
I had the opportunity to expand my experience in teaching a photography class in the Fall semester, in
the Communication Department. The addition of this class taught me that I could stretch myself in areas
that cause me to emphasize priorities constructively. With this being the first time that I taught the
class, the information assembled for the class became a process during the semester. The time that it
took to prepare for the class with new material will be helpful should this be a venture that I partake of
in the future.
