The Instructional Technology Advisory Committee (ITAC), with representatives from all Colleges and from units
across MSU's campus, works with ITS, the CTL, and others to enhance the university's instructional technology.
ITAC has invited representatives from the Canvas Learning Management System to campus for a presentation of
their product. We will have three presentations, at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30 on Friday, August 25th, in Fowlkes
Auditorium. Any university member is invited to attend.

Good afternoon! On behalf of the Office of Institutional Diversity & Inclusion, I would like to
invite you to attend an upcoming seminar, “Diversifying Your Curriculum,” held on
Wednesday, September 13th in the Mitchell Memorial Library’s Grisham Room (3rd floor). The
Brown Bag luncheon will be held as a partnership between the Center for Teaching and
Learning and the Office of Institutional Diversity & Inclusion and will feature panelists Dr. Kelly
Marsh, English Professor, and Dr. Devon Brenner, Professor & Assistant to the Vice President
for Research. Panelists will share their best practices and ideas for diversifying curriculum
through multiple approaches.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. and the program will begin at noon. Prior registration is

Snap It!
Overview
The Snap It! Compe on requires students to develop a 30-second crea ve video of their experience
while at Mississippi State University and share their masterpiece on Twi er.
During the SnapIt! Workshop, students will learn how to create photo collages through Snap Collage,
which will allow them to create cool images with high resolu on. They will also explore a number of pho-
to edi ng tricks to compile an original storyline video through Flipagram. During the campus tour, teams
will collect their ar facts and create the collage. Students will be engaged in a fun and engaging compe -
ve event while learning about MSU. A panel consis ng of MSU faculty, staff, and students will judge the
videos, which are not to exceed 30 seconds.
Requirements
1. Bring at least 2. Setup Twi er account 3. Pre-Install smartphone apps
one smartphone with the username Twi er, Snap Collage
(Ex. SchoolName-01) and Flipagram
Guidelines
Before Arriving at MSU
1. Each team must install the Twi er, Snap Collage, and Flipagram applica ons on one smartphone that
will be used during the compe on at MSU.
2. Each team must setup a Twi er username that will be used to submit their team’s submission. Team
name’s consist of high school name and team number. (ex. SchoolName-01)
During the Workshop
1. Teams will par cipate in a MSU tour. During the tour, teams are expected to snap photos that will
reflect their experience and journey on campus.
2. Students will use the skills they have learned to create a unique collage and 30-second video.
3. Teams will upload their submissions using their school name and team number. (Ex. SchoolName-01)
4. Submissions will be judged based on the evalua on rubric.

SNAP IT!
Every team should already have Snap Collage and Flipagram Apps downloaded on your phones.
Every team can have more than one smart phone, to have many shots to choose from, but every
team must have one.
Take Pictures, take pictures, and take even more pictures!!!!! Make your journey through the
campus tour a fun one. Learn some things about MSU that you can generate into a storyline that
includes all of your team members. Be very creative and thoughtful in your picture taking
process. Make sure that all team members take part in the picture taking process so that
everyone has a chance to be in plenty of shots. Stay in your teams and unleash your creativity.

TEAMS STORYLINE AND JOURNEY THROUGH MSU!
How to gather your photos
1. Go to your phones photo section.
2. Click on ALBUMS, in the bottom right corner of the screen.
3. Click on the + symbol at the top left corner of the screen.
4. Name the album DDB -Your team name and it should appear at the bottom of your
album.
5. Click on CAMERAL ROLL. All of the photos that you have taken will show up in that
section. If you have taken photos on more than one camera within your team, you will
want to choose one phone to work on and the other images will have to be shared. The
directions are given below.
6. Click SELECT in the top right corner of the screen, and tap on the images that you want
to use for your collages.
7. Click ADD TO at the bottom middle of the screen, scroll down to the DDB album that you
created and add those photos into that album.
How to share your photos
1. Go to your phones photo section.
2. Click on SHARED, in the bottom of the screen.
3. Click on the + symbol at the top left corner of the screen.
4. Type in the album name, DDB-Your team name.
How to create your collages
1. Open up the Snap Collage App.
2. Select the album that you created “DDB-Yourteam team.
3. Choose the collage arrangement, at the top of the screen, that you like the best.
4. Tap to select the images that you will want to place into the chosen collage; the photos
are automatically put into multiple collages.

5. Click on the selected collage.
6. The images within the collage can be manipulated. To manipulate an individual image,
click on the image. If you want to switch images around within the collage, hold it down
and drag and drop it into place
7. You can use the EDIT option to change the photo’s appearance.
8. You can change to a different image.
9. You can flip the images vertically and horizontally.
10. You can rotate the images.
11. You can center the image in an individual collage section
12. You can zoom in and out of the collage.
13. You can use the Photo Editor to crop, enhance, add effects, adjust brightness, change
sharpness, add stickers, draw, remove red eye, whiten teeth, remove blemishes, add a
blur, add a meme, and focus the image.
14. You can change the individual shapes within the collage.
15. You can change the tone of an image.
16. Click BORDERS at the bottom of the screen to add a border to your collage.
17. Within borders, you can adjust the ratio of the frame, round the corners, as well as add
a drop shadow to the frame.
18. Click on COLOR to add color to the background, and the border.
19. Click on PATTERN to add a pattern to the background, and the border.
20. Click TEXT at the bottom of the screen to add text to your collage
21. When adding text to your collage you can change the style, add color, as well as change
the font.
22. Click STAMPS to add a stamp to your collage.
23. When you are done with your collage, click on SHARE.
24. Click on Save. Once the collage is saved, it is then saved in the photo section of your
phone.
25. You can then move on to create the next collage. Click Home.
26. It will ask you if you want to Discard Collage, click YES.
27. It will then go back to the home page, clear the collage by clicking CLEAR at the bottom
of the screen and start all over again with step 4.
TIME FOR FLIPAGRAM!
How to create your video
1. Open up the Flipagram App.
2. Click on the “+” symbol at the bottom of the screen.
3. Click SELECT PHOTOS & VIDEOS.
4. Click on CAMERA ROLL.
5. Tap to select all of your collages.
6. Click NEXT in the top right corner of the screen.
7. If the collages need to be rearranged this is the time to do that.
8. Click NEXT in the top right corner of the screen.
9. If you want to enter a title, click TAP TO ENTER TITLE.
10. Click MUSIC.

11. You can click MY MUSIC to use your own music, FIND MUSIC to use Flipagram music, or
RECORD VOICE NARRATION to record your own storyline.
12. Whatever is decided, your own music, find music, or record voice narration, REMEMBER
that you have a restriction of 20 seconds!!!!
13. You can adjust the time of the video by clicking SPEED.
14. Drag the button to and from turtle speed to rabbit speed to see the length of the video,
REMEMBER that you have a restriction of 20 seconds!!!!
15. When you complete the sound portion of the video click DONE.
16. You can add Filters by clicking FILTERS.
17. You can also rotate, add text, create duplicate collages, or delete collages by clicking
EDIT at the bottom of the screen.
18. When you are finished with your video, click NEXT in the upper right corner of the
screen.
19. A “Share To” screen will pop up. Click the “TWITTER”.
20. The Twitter screen will pop up, delete any music or Flipagram information by back
spacing.
21. Type in #DawgByte15.
22. Click POST.
23. YES YOU ARE DONE AND YOU HAVE ENTERED YOUR VIDEO INTO THE SNAP IT!

How to TWEET your video
24. Open up the Twitter App.
25. On your Home page, click the symbol in the top right corner of the screen to tweet your
video.
26. Scroll down to your video and select it, when the video pops up click DONE in the upper
right corner of the screen.
27. Tap where it says “What’s Happening?” and type in #DawgByte16.
28. Click TWEET.
29. YES YOU ARE DONE AND YOU HAVE ENTERED YOUR VIDEO INTO THE SNAP IT!
