Each of us at Maryknoll
High School is like a cub

in the wild, exploring
the world little by

little. We start at first
cautiously, then as our
curiosity grows by leaps
and bounds, we find our
way into every imagi

nable situation.

"We're singing, in the rain."

Enter-the Frosh!

The opening of school
marked the arrival of the
youngest division, the Fresh
men. They were off to a won
derful start with smiling
faces that didn't yet show
the constant worries that
plague Maryknoll veterans.
Eventually, though, they too
were faced with all the prob
lems that love to prey on
students. But even through
all the trying experiences of
high school, the Class of '83
proved that they could stick
to it.

Circle of Friends

Imagine going to school
one morning anticipating a
fun-filled day. Impossible?
Not if you were one of the
lucky Freshmen. The annual
Frosh Field Day was full of
activities. Everyone really
got into the spirit of it by
participating in football,
soccer, tug-of-war, and the
’’caterpillar". By the end of
the day. the Class of '83 ob
tained a sense of unity and
became a closer "circle of
friends".

Star Struck Frosh

With Acquaintance Week, a
cloud of excitement tinged
with nervousness descended
upon the Freshmen. But once
the fun started all signs of
anxiety quickly disappeared.
Rowdy Frosh were invited to
participate in activities cre
atively inspired by the theme
"Hollywood Stars". By the end
of the week, Frosh discovered
who the real stars of MHS’
Acquaintance Week were...all
the members of the Freshman
Class of 1983!

ringing voices filled Rog

to ring in the Christmas
season for everyone. Like
the tinsel draped on their
shoulders, the Class of !83
shone with such warmth that

the audience could truly
feel their Christmas aloha.

Their appealing perform
ance gave an indication of

their promising future.

traits won them respect. With
hard work and enthusiasm, the
super Sophs made a lasting im

Sophs Keep

the Tradition

Thanksgiving has always
been a traditional holiday
at Maryknoll, and the high-
spirited Sophomores continued
the tradition of sharing with
others. The entire division
contributed to the menu, con
stantly suggesting and re
jecting ideas. After careful
planning, the many assorted
foods were supplied by the
class and placed into bas
kets. These decorative bas
kets were offered during the
special Thanksgiving mass.

A Stocking

Full of Sophs

Something happens in the
month of December. It's a
season when the child comes
out in everyone. Members of
the Class of '82 were no ex
ception. Excited Sophomores
eagerly waited for Santa's
annual visit to Rogers Hall.
His arrival was marked by a
shower of candy, one rein
deer, and squeals of delight.
Sophs joined in the fun
wholeheartedly and were re
warded with gifts of candy
from Santa.

Spirit of '82

The Sophs made Home-
coming 1980 a spirited
event by participating in

all the events. They
wasted no time, but con

centrated all their ef
forts in whatever they

were doing. Spirit con
tests and the float com

petition were greeted
with excitement. Their
refreshing eagerness and
sense of fun allowed the

Sophomores to make the
most of Homecoming.

Juniors in Motion

It has been said that a
rolling stone gathers no
moss. This timeless proverb
describes the Class of '81
exactly. Under the motivat
ing leadership of their di
vision officers, the Juniors
have constantly been on the
move. Participating in
school activities, they
wasted no time in idleness.
Their first few weeks were
an indication of the Jun
iors' determination to make
the '79-'80 school year one
of their best.

Stack It Up

Ever heard of wall-to-
wall newspapering? No? Prob

ably because this trend was
only recently discovered in
selected classrooms at Mary
knoll High--Junior homerooms
to be exact! The idea of re
cycling newspapers was enthu
siastically received by all.

Proof of their involvement
was the total amount of pa
pers that they collected for

the first delivery. It
weighed in at almost two

tons!

FACULTY

Faculty and Administration

HELP!!!

Did you ever have a problem,
and not know what to do about it?

Then suddenly you found the an
swer... in the smiling faces of

the faculty and administration on
campus. Yes, this describes the
staff at Maryknoll High School
who are full of concern, under
standing and patience. But stu
dents not only go to the staff

for problems, they go to them for
friendship and companionship.

That's what makes MHS so special.
It's the unique relationship be

tween the staff and the students,
one of mutual respect and admira

tion .

ACTIVITIES

Acquaintance Week'

The sun was out (D
shined as the many lumi </>
nous "stars" came out to

greet the Class of '83.
The school echoed with
shrieks of laughter as
the divisions made the

acquaintance of the Frosh
over baby bottles, paci
fiers, diapers and bibs!
Once the zaniness of Ac

quaintance Week began NO
THING could dim the fun!
Hollywood may be able to
boast of having the most
stars, but MHS has the
brightest.
