1 INTRODUCTIONS
The Confucius Institute is an international educational organization with 470 Confucius
Institutes and 650 Confucius Classrooms around the world in more than 120 countries
with its headquarters in Beijing, the main objective is to spread Chinese language and
Chinese ancient culture, giving priority to the highest standards of teaching and
educational quality.
The headquarters is located at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Cumbayá,
meeting and anniversary 5 years after the execution of this academic-cultural work,
supported by the international language office Hanban.
It is located in a prestigious area of Cumbayá. Around is easy access to shopping
centers, banks, clinics and just 10 minutes from the Capital.

2.2 PROJECTION 2016
The projection for 2016 is to increase by 35% of students, as we could saw reflected in
2015 we had 26 students and to meet our goal of 35% is to increase 9 students for a
total of 34 students, in our first process admissions had a total of 44 students, passing
our goal. For our next admissions process we hope to increase these numbers
according our strategic plan.

2.4 HSK
On last March 20, 2016 was our international examination HSK. 65 students
took the HSK 1, HSK 2, HSK 3, HSK 4, HSKK beginner and HSKK intermediate at different
venues of the country located in Cumbayá, Guayaquil, Cuenca and Portoviejo
The HSK examinations were sent by the General Headquaters-Hanban Confucius
Institute in China and received at the headquarters of the Confucius Institute at the
Universidad San Francisco de Quito for native Chinese teachers in Ecuador evaluate
students.
The administrative staff at each venue and teachers were pending test
development from inception to completion; following the guidelines for HSKK and HSK
exams. The participation of all let students took exams in a quiet, comfortable and
orderly environment.
At the headquarters of Cumbayá, 29 students took the exams.

3 CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Mid-Autumn Festival
On Friday September 25 this year, the Confucius Institute held with students, faculty,
staff and the general public the Mid-Autumn Festival (Zhongqiu Jié).
Duanwu Festival
On Saturday June 20 this year, the Confucius Institute held with students, faculty, staff
and the general public with Boat Festival Dragon Head (Duanwu Jie).
This fascinating festival took place in the Blue Room of the Universidad San Francisco
de Quito from 13h00 to 15h30, where he was attended by over 70 guests. As an initial
presentation Direct Confucius Institute Carbonell Jose Salazar gave us a warm words of
welcome.
Then Professor Hu Yifan made the presentation of the history and importance of this
festival that within Chinese culture is one of the most representative.
Finally, opening occurred at the beginning of activities typical of Chinese culture such
as Chinese calligraphy, Chinese knots, cut paper, Chinese masks and main attraction is
the development of Zongzi, typical dish of the festival!
The various activities were conducted in five coordinated by teachers Teng Qi, Liu
Yanping, Kuang Xiaoshan, Hu Yifan, Liu Yanping and Xue Ping stands.
Once culminated the activities proceeded to tasting different dishes of Chinese culture
that pleased the audience.
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION 5TH USFQ CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE AND CHINESE NEW
YEAR 2016
On Saturday 20 February this year, the Confucius Institute held with students, faculty,
staff and the general public, its 5th anniversary and the Chinese New Year. Within this
prestigious event we have the presence of more than 200 people.
The event began with the moving words of the Director José Salazar Carbonel.
Also, we have the presence of the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in
Ecuador, Mr. Wang Yulin, who witnessed the cultural activities of our dear students,
and took delivery diplomas to students who have completed more than 96 and 240
hours learning Chinese language.
Among the activities carried out by our students we had:
Speech from former scholarship students, Ms. Kiara War
Parade of 5 ethnic groups of China.
Poems
The event ended with a reception at the premises of the Universidad San Francisco de
Quito, where exquisite food were provided.

1 LOCATION OF THE CITY AND IMPORTANCE IN THE COUNTRY
1.1 BACKGROUND
Located in the capital of Ecuador, the Confucius Institute At Universidad San Francisco De Quito –
Quito Extension is located in the downtown area of the city.
It was launched in September 2013. It is the fourth school that is not within its headquarters
Cumbaya.
The distance to its headquarters in Cumbaya, is about 20 kilometers. Its headquarters is located east,
outside the city, Cumbaya campus sector of the Universidad San Francisco de Quito.
Quito is the capital of Ecuador, is a very important industrial central city, where refining and
petrochemistry, wood, production of medicines, production of leather and fabric, variety of food is
produced. Metal working, crafts in gold, silver, ivory, and famous woodcuts. It is also the
transportation hub. It features International Airport.
Quito is divided by the new city and the old city. It has a population of 1, 840,000 people.
1.2 LOCATION
The Center is located in the modern sector of the city of Quito, Juan Montalvo neighborhood, street
Germany N31 - 106 and Mariana de Jesus, half a block south of the EMAAP.
The center has a total area of 400 m2, which is divided into 9 classrooms with a whole has a space
155mts2. A reading room 11mts2. Two offices 16 m2, the principal's office of 9 m2, and the office of
teachers 7 m2.

1.4 IMPACTO
Our Center for Chinese Language and Culture San Francisco de Quito, signed in October this year a an
Understanding with the Colegio Militar "Eloy Alfaro" in order to strengthen educational cooperation
between China and Ecuador.
Support and promote the development of the teaching of Chinese language and increase friendship
and mutual understanding between China and Ecuador, reaching agreement for the establishment of
programs of Chinese Language and Culture at the Colegio Militar Eloy Alfaro supported our Chinese
and local teachers.
The purpose of this agreement is to:
• Develop the teaching of Chinese language and culture and provide resources for teaching Chinese
language.
• Develop the Education and Evaluation of Chinese for young students.
• Training courses for local Language Teachers in China.
• Organization of exchange programs between students from primary schools and / or secondary
education schools with local Chinese students.
• Promote related to Chinese language and culture activities. Organize exams HSK Chinese language
proficiency, YCT and certification exams for students of Chinese language.
• Currently we have 50 active students in the module I.

2.6 PROJECTIONS
Within our production base and maintain our equilibrium point is to enroll 10 new students per

1 LOCATION OF THE CITY AND IMPORTANCE IN THE COUNTRY
1.1.1 Introduction
Guayaquil, officially Santiago de Guayaquil, is the largest and most populous city of the Republic of
Ecuador, with a population in the metropolitan area of nearly 3,113,725 inhabitants. The urban area
of Guayaquil, also known as Great Guayaquil, is ranked among the largest cities in Latin America. It is
also a major trading center with influence at the regional level in the field of trade, finance, political,
cultural and entertainment.
Located on the Pacific coast in the coastal region of Ecuador, the east of the city lies on Guayas River,
about 20 kilometers from its beginning point at the Pacific Ocean, while surrounded by the Estero
Salado in its southwestern part.
Santiago de Guayaquil stands out among the Ecuadorian cities for its high use of mass transit, and its
overall density and diversity of its population. The port city is one of the most important of the
eastern Pacific coast, 70% of private exports out for its facilities, entering 83% of imports.
Furthermore, its position mall, the city traditionally known as the "economic capital" because of the
number of companies, factories and shops that exist throughout the city.
Guayaquil is a city of wide commercial activity. America Economía magazine in its edition of April
2002, included the 2003 ranking of American cities, which the appearance of Guayaquil stands in
sixth place among the cities that provide better facilities to do business (entrepreneurial cities )
reaching a rate of 3.88 ranking after Monterrey (5.34), São Paulo (4.56), Santiago (4.45), Bogotá (4.40)
and Mexico City (4.26).
Commercial activity and the benefits they provide are also seen at the corporate level, the private
sector opportunities to develop business models that generate economic, environmental and social
value, are reflected in the development of new structures and buildings, private investment in
Guayaquil has been part of the process of growth of the city, real estate projects, private
developments, and business centers and offices, have been increasing, making the city a strategic
and attractive location for doing business in Ecuador. The city of Guayaquil has been since colonial
times an important trading center in the region.
1.1.2 Distance from Quito
The distance from Guayaquil to the capital Quito is 395.4 kilometers 267.6 kilometers by land and air.
1.1.3 Commerce
The city hosts 39% of the 1000 largest companies of Ecuador. Of this group of companies, companies
represent 35% of assets, 37% equity and 39% of revenues. Likewise, total sales of Guayaquil
companies account for 36% of this group.
Trade contributed with 1028 million. Construction has also had a multiplier effect on the economy.
Location
Located in the Francisco de Orellana Avenue, one of the major roads of northern Guayaquil. Along
the avenue you can find some of the tallest buildings in the city and serves as the commercial hub of
northern Guayaquil like the Avenida Nueve de Octubre.
Orellana, so commonly known, is the new banking center of the city where we also find public
entities, major commercial centers, hotels with easy access from anywhere in the city by different
means.
1.2 IMPACT IN GUAYAQUIL SOCIETY
In the second half of 2015, the Confucius Institute in Guayaquil was invited to participate in events
with the MAAC, ESPOL and American College. These activities were mainly focused on
demonstrations of Chinese culture, with the public students from public, private schools and
university students. In the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral and the American College of
Guayaquil a presentation of Tai Chi was performed and the middle of November, also were invited to
the community at large to participate in a massive class in the Linear Park of the Kennedy
neighborhood. In addition to this, it has developed calligraphy workshops providing Chinese-
language names of the participants. The objective of these activities has been to involve to society
and customs of students with Chinese culture. Also, in addition to teaching, it seeks to pervade both
cultures (Ecuador-China), focusing on the similarity and differences through dissemination
workshops and classes open to the general public.
It has cooperated in bilateral trade rounds of translation and translation of documents for different
companies.
1.3 SERVICES
In Guayaquil extension the following services are provided:
1.3.1 Chinese language classes - regular modality
The form of regular study is divided into levels and classes are taught in modules of 48 hours divided
as follows: Monday to Thursday, 1.5 hours per day, 6 hours per week for 8 weeks.
The current curriculum includes 6 levels.
1.3.2 Chinese language classes - intensive modality
The mode of intensive study are divided into levels and classes are taught in modules of 48 hours
divided as follows: Saturdays, 4 hours per day ending at 12 weeks each module.

1.3.3 Face to Face or private classes
This mode is designed for people with limited time or irregular hours, classes are taught according to
a prearranged schedule between teacher and student. Progress on number of lessons is not limited
to the curriculum but the frequency and study skills of each student.
1.3.4 HSK
In our study center offers during the months of March and December, students and the general
public have the opportunity to take the HSK exam, which is a certification standard Chinese language
proficiency.
1.3.5 Prep for HSK
Preparation modules are offered to our students and the general public. One month before of the
date of HSK / K is opening examination, have 24 hours.
1.3.6 Translations
Our study center offers translation of documents Standard Chinese to Spanish and Spanish to
Chinese standard. service interpretation and / or translation for bilateral business, visit authorities
and others are also available.
1.4 SCHOLARSHIP.
Today, our students have participated and received scholarships in the various programs offered.
Programs:
• 3 to 4 weeks.
• 1 academic semester.
• 1 academic year.
• Master of Teaching Chinese as a second language to foreigners.

1.4.2 Technological and Educational Resources.
• Each classroom has a computer and projector for the development of the class.
• The reading room has dictionaries, educational texts, general knowledge books, encyclopedias and
cultural videos. The total is 226 books and 56 videos.

2 ACADEMICS
2.1 STUDENTS
At the moment we have over 100 students, most of whom attends the first five modules.
It is important to note that our greatest source of students coming from universities and professional.
Private lessons or face to face, regularly have over 10 students studying in this mode; This is a new
opportunity that opens in our extension. However it should be noted that, although private classes
has a higher price, occupies hours of our teachers where they could have regular classes and
increasing the number of students.

2.3 PROJECTIONS
Guayaquil has maintained an annual growth of 12.8% registered students since opening in 2010.
The projection at the end of this year growth is 16% of students registered.
2.4 HSK EXAMINATION
In our center students takes international standard proficiency test HSK Chinese language. This
