inhabitants a unique idiosyncrasy, that with the
passing of decades and centuries was tilling and
building what today is now Cuenca: the economic
and cultural center of a rich Ecuador region.

Cuenca is recognized as the birthplace of writers and poets for what is considered the Athens of Ecuador.

Cuenca serves as a host of several international festivals such as the Festival Theatre "Scenarios of the
World" or, for example, the Film Festival "The Orchid Cuenca "which this year is in its fifth edition.
Similarly, thanks to its colonial architecture and cultural diversity, Cuenca was declared a World Heritage
