Note: The standard 1902 quart is shown to the LEFT
in this image, the small crest 1902 quart on the RIGHT
is the bottle under discussion. The crest is clearly
different from the standard crest, raising questions as
to why this particular bottle was made. In addition, the
small crest 1902 is a Foley pottery bottle, and the top
is a medium blue, like on the blue top Daley's, as
opposed to a cobalt blue. Was Price Bristol late with
their 1902 order, and Dolan had a small rush order
made at the Foley Pottery?

Another fascinating tidbit comes with the 1902 bottle.
Colin Eyban, a seasoned Saint John digger, found the
base of this bottle back in the early 1990's. At the time,
the complete top was missing. Colin put the bottle
under his kitchen sink and forgot about it. Two years
later, he was digging another hole 10 feet from the
hole where the base came out, and, yes, up came a
cobalt blue top - not uncommon in a town with dozens
of cobalt blues. Colin knew that this was the one. He
took it home, brought out the bottle from under the
sink, and sure enough, it fit perfectly.
