Project06 Rembau Hospital

hospital design Hospital Rembau is a new District Hospital that sits on a
32.4 acres of land. The 76 bedded hospital with gross
floor area of 21,654 square metres was designed to
connect the community as well as the environment. The
planning concept was focused around the Central
Courtyard and respective functional zones. Thus, a clear
identification of space and access was clearly
highlighted for each zone of the hospital.

The spread out of 3 storey blocks are able to bring in
natural lighting and to provide external views. A modern
approach in design with pitched roofs and deep
overhangs provides comfort to the visitors and patients.
The interior spaces were enhanced with various colours
and motifs to heighten the different departments and
also to brighten the surroundings. Good planning and
proper use of materials create a relaxing environment
for rehabilitation and healing process.

The facility consists of General Medical, Obstetrics &
Gynaecology, Paediatric, Radiology, Pathology,
Pharmacy and Central Sterilising Services Unit (CSSU).
The hospital is also equipped with two Operation
Theatres.

Block & Internal Renovation Work

The project was part of works on upgrading 22 blood
collection centres to support national vaccination
projects in Malaysia. The work was focused on the
construction of additional 4-storey buildings. The
function is to provide space and facilities for storage and
processing of high quality blood plasma, before it is used
for medical consumption. The building with gross floor
area of 1,258 square metres consists of a Fractionation
Laboratory, a Receiving Room and Storage Room.

The scope of work is to provide work space, storage
space, Blood Bank Information System requirements,
engineering requirements, medical and non-medical
equipment placement that meet the relevant standards
and guidelines for implementing the blood plasma
fractionation process. Thus, additional work space in
laboratories, office space, and product storage are
essential in line with the increase in plasma quality, and
the products yielded from the processed plasma.

Selangor, nearby the old clinic. It sits on a 5.43 acres of
land. The clinic was fully operational in June 2019,
providing medical facilities to local Kinrara residents and
surrounding areas. The facility can accommodate
between 300 to 500 visitors per day. The clinic was
designed using JKR Pre-Approved Plan Health Clinic
Type 3 (Teja).

The gross floor area of the two storey building is 2,790
square metres and consists of 5 beds (3 recovery beds
and 2 asthma bays), Accident and Emergency Unit,
Outpatient Clinic, Dental Clinic, Mother and Children
Clinic, Pharmacy, Imaging and Diagnostics and

health clinic design 81 Gombak Setia Health Clinic - Type 3

Gombak Setia Health Clinic sits on a very small site of
0.786 acre of land. The clinic was designed using JKR
Pre-Approved Plan Health Clinic Type 3 (Teja). It was
initiated to replace the old existing clinic as well as to
cater to the growing needs of the surrounding
population. The facilities can accommodate between 300
to 500 visitors per day.

Due to the compact site area, the clinic was designed with
the concept of “Less is More” which is demonstrated in
the simple and modern usage of horizontal and vertical
elements. Utilisation of metal roofing, perforated panels,
aluminium composite cladding and louvres as facade
elements helps to emphasise its design concept. It was
designed with solid form, and was balanced by a
protruded and recessed wall, round columns, and
louvres. The clinic also applied unique textures and
vibrant colours on its facade that become a new
landmark in its surrounding area.

The gross floor area of the three storey high building is
3,713 square metres. It consists of 5 beds (3 recovery
beds and 2 asthma bays), Accident and Emergency Unit,
Outpatient Clinic, Mother and Children Clinic, Pharmacy,
Imaging and Diagnostics and Pathology Laboratory.
