Course Synopsis
This course will provide knowledge and understanding of media and information
technology. Its deal with information communication technology (ICT). This course
also discuss various aspect media and information technology with emphasis on its
relevant impact on the impact on the media systems, public sphere, democratic self-
governance and democracy including digital media policy.
Course Outcomes
At the end of this course students are able to:
1. Discuss the concept of media and media systems.
2. Identify the role of information and communication technology used.
3. Describe relevant ICT models in media.
4. Explain the function of digital media.

Pre-requisite
Course Synopsis
This course introduces the students the fundamentals, principles and concepts of
financial management and accounting in business entity and in public sector.
Students are also exposed to the sources and usage of information in making
decision. Some of the aspects covered in this course are financial statement analysis,
time value of money, capital budgeting, cost of capital, cash and working capital
management. Students will also be exposed to public sector accounting as well as
the introduction of Islamic finance.
Course Outcomes
At the end of this course students are able to:
1. Understand the fundamental concept, theories and principles of financial
management both in business and public organisation.
2. Analyse and evaluate time value of money and cost of capital.
3. Analyse and evaluate financial statement analysis and capital budgeting.

Course Synopsis
The focus of the course is to outline the various evaluation techniques currently being
practiced to evaluate personnel performance as well as the means of creating a
working environment that motivates personnel to perform their best. Apart from
explaining the theories and concepts underlying performance appraisal, the course
will also encourage students to take a critical look at existing models and techniques
and consider how best they can be modified and applied in the military environment.

Pre-requisite
Course Synopsis
This course is the culminating point of the undergraduate programme where students
are required to produce an academic paper or thesis on any topic related to the
subjects of defence human resource management. This course is the continuity of
academic paper proposal during Seminar in Defence Resources Management last
semester. The student already identified research topic for the paper and will be
assigned by supervisor. A viva-voce session will be held upon research report before
a complete undergraduate academic paper or thesis by the end of the course
semester.
Course Outcomes
At the end of this course students are able to:
1. Identify and conduct suitable research articles in preparation for writing an
academic paper report.
2. Produce an academic paper using the correct format.
3. Identify the right methodological approaches to organize and collect
information of data.
4. Complete an undergraduate academic paper report on the end of the
course.

experience as part of this training exercise.

Course Synopsis
This course covers a broad spectrum of topics relating to conflict management such
as the political context of the conflict, approaches in conflict resolution; and methods
of control, management and resolution of conflict. Students will also be taught the
various techniques and procedures in the resolution of conflict. Apart from these
theoretical aspects, they will also be exposed to selected case studies and simulation
exercises as part of the effort to familiarize them with the practical application of the
theories and principles taught.
Course Outcomes
At the end of this course students are able to:
1. Understand the nature of conflict in society, groups, organizations and
individuals.
2. Learn techniques to manage conflict in their personal and professional

Course Synopsis
This course will exclusively deal with military leadership in war by highlighting the
uniqueness of the environment and the approaches to be taken under such a
situation. Although the cases to be discussed will be mainly military involving leaders
such as Eisenhower, Rommel, Slim, Patton and others; the leadership styles of well
known civilian leaders such as Churchill and Truman will also be included.
Course Outcomes
At the end of this course students are able to:
1. Introduce the fundamental of military leadership.
2. Discuss the human dimension of military leadership: stress, courage,
morale, teamwork, fear, cohesion, etc in the combat environment.
3. Discuss the causes of leader success and failure in battlefield.

Course Synopsis
The course aims at exposing students to the various strategies and techniques in
introducing change in an organization. They will be taught the theories and principles
that explain human tendency to resist change and how this can be overcome. Case
studies will be extensively used to highlight the lessons taught. A substantial
percentage of the cases to be discussed will be those involving military organizations.
Course Outcomes
At the end of this course students are able to:
1. Explain why change is both a creative and a rational process.
2. Identify common changes that confront organizations such as downsizing,
introducing new technologies, mergers and acquisitions.
3. Discuss the strength and weakness of various approaches to the

Course Synopsis
The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge required in managing
civilian resources placed under military disposal during war, conflict and emergency.
Students will be broadly taught the various aspects of sea, air and land transport
management, the management of essential services such as water and electricity
and other resources. Students will also be taught the concept of total defense as the
key underlying principle in war-time resource mobilisation.
