2015 Annual Report DILG-Bohol 180Strengthened Internal Organizational Capacity GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT TRAINING OF TRAINERS ON CREATING A GENDER RESPONSIVE, CHILD FRIENDLY AND INDIGENOUS PEOPLE RELEVANT KATARUNGANG PAMBARANGAY To build and enhance the capacities of cluster heads on Katarungang Pambarangay employing a gender-responsive and child friendly approach, Cluster Heads Redemcion Cag-ong and Ma. Reina A. Quilas attended the Training of Trainers on Creating a Gender Responsive, Child Friendly and Indigenous People Relevant Katarungang Pambarangay at the BSA Twin Towers, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City on September 7-11, 2015. With the knowledge and skills learned and acquired by the cluster heads during the activity, they can ably guide and cascade the information to the field officers. Gender Sensitivity Training Ten DILG-Bohol personnel joined the Gender Sensitivity Training last October 20-21, 2015 at the Citi Park Hotel, Cebu City. Pursuant to RA 9710 which requires all government employees to undergo training on Gender Sensitivity, the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 7 conducted Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) to its employees who lack the said training. The two-day training covered various topics on Gender and Development. The following areas were discussed: the difference between gender and sex, gender division of labor/gender roles, manifestations of gender bias, roles of socializing institutions, legal mandates on GAD and gender mainstreaming. Gender Analysis Tools, its benefits and its applications were also discussed. A discussion on The Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710) was also conducted. Other laws that were elaborated in the training were Human Trafficking in the Philippines, R.A. 9208, “Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003” and Anti-Sexual Harassment Law. All the participants actively participated in the workshops that range from role-playing, singing and dancing. OTHER GAD RELATED ACTIVITIES Women’s Month Celebration Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 224, 227 and Republic Act 6469, the first week of March is declared as Women’s Week, March 8 as National Women’s Day and the month of March as Women’s Month. The month-long celebration had the theme “Juana, Desisyon Mo ay Mahalaga sa Kinabukasan ng Bawat Isa, Ikaw Na!” In observance of the Women’s Region 7’s participants of the Training of Trainers on Creating a Gender Responsive, Child Friendly and Indigenous People Relevant Katarungang Pambarangay at the BSA Twin Towers, Ortigas Center The culmination Program of the Women’s Month celebration of the Provincial Government with Sec. 2015 Annual Report DILG-Bohol Strengthened Internal Organizational Capacity 181 Month, the municipal and city governments of Bohol hang streamers, distributed IEC materials and conducted literary-musical programs. For the provincial government, a literary-musical program was conducted graced by DOJ Secretary Leila De Lima. It also conducted photo exhibit contest which highlighted the functionality and activation of the Women’s groups in the city and municipalities. LGOO VI Ma. Reina Quilas was one of the Board of Judges of the photo exhibit contest. Coastal Clean-up DILG Bohol participated in the Provincial Management Coordinating Council (PMCC) Coastal Clean-up on September 24, 2015 at Libaong Beach, Panglao, Bohol. The event started with the Motorcade from Plaza Rizal to the venue. The DILG Family with PNP, BJMP and BFP together with AFP and the Provincial Government of Bohol conducted the coastal clean-up around the venue. Tree Planting Activity In the second quarter of the year, June 19, 2015, a mangrove tree planting activity was conducted by D’ One Cluster in Trinidad, Bohol. It was participated by the 24 field officers of D’ One Cluster. Annual Medical & Physical Check-up As early as 6:30 in the morning of December 7, 2015, DILG-Bohol personnel go through medical and physical check-up with the BLCM doctors, nurses and medical technologists facilitating. Medical services include blood pressure, urinalysis, ECG, cholesterol, triglycerides, uric acid. The results of the tests were immediately interpreted and communicated to the patient (DILG personnel) in the afternoon of the same day with the corresponding healthy lifestyle advice and medical prescription.
