Information you need to know when ordering a kit:

• GM: VIN code, required thickness of head gasket

MAHLE Original® Plasma Moly Steel piston ring sets provide the ultimate in tensile
strength, hardness, and fatigue resistance. MAHLE Original SAE 9254 high-alloy steel is
combined with a proprietary plasma face coating to extend life, eliminate ring breakage,
reduce side wear, and minimize groove pound out problems. This higher strength steel
allows the top ring groove to be closer to the top of the piston and reduces the crevice
volume portion around the top ring land for reduced unburned fuel. Smaller cross-
sections provide lower ring mass to tolerate inertial forces to seal against the bottom of
the ring groove more effectively, improving the ability of the ring to conform to cylinder
wall distortion often found in high output high RPM engines of today.
