I also need food for my soul! Virtues such as kindness, humility, peace and love are the super soul foods sent by God from above…. The spiritually inclined, value-based Mogly Gurukul Value Education Programme forms an integral part of the school's annual curriculum till Grade 3. The programme is especially designed to provide learners with a fun-filled yet enriching learning experience to imbibe values and develop an appreciation of our rich cultural heritage. The learners of Grade I were motivated to respect others through the amusing tale of ‘Gilbert the Goat’. They enthusiastically shared the takeaway from the story along with decorating ‘Gilbert the Goat’ using shredding and pasting techniques of paper art. Likewise, the inquisitive learners of Grade 2 were encouraged to be compassionate towards all life forms. The discussion was reinforced through an artsy-craftsy activity. In Grade III, the fervent learners were shown a video to underscore the importance of leading a dignified life, which was followed by a debate. The constructive and stimulating sessions helped learners assimilate the values with ease.
Being healthy isn't the destinationit is a way of living! We believe that investing in a healthy lifestyle from an early age forms a habit which lasts a lifetime. Therefore, our inhouse dietician and Nutritionist, Ms Aditi Mehrotra conducts a special program called Arney’s Fitkids. The program has been focusing on encouraging young learners to adopt a healthy lifestyle. It not only emphasizes the importance of having a balanced diet but also makes learners aware of the nutritional value of various food items that they consume on a regular basis. Learners are engaged in meal planning activities, which helps them develop their creativity and decision-making abilities by curating delicious meal ideas. The sessions have helped learners differentiate healthy from unhealthy food items and make conscious choices. The sessions end with fun activities that provide each learner with an opportunity to share the nutritional value of a food item. Fun challenges give them a chance to include all food groups in one meal, thus ensuring that they get maximum nourishment.
‘If you wish to renew your mind, Read!’ We strongly believe that reading daily is one of the best habits one can possess. The School has been successfully running a Reading Programme for its Pre-Primary and Primary learners. The Programme has thrived due to the constant and unequivocal support of Parents and School Administration. Learners of Grade Nursery were encouraged to bring books from their home for the ‘Book Buzz’ activity where they were asked to identify sight words from their books and frame meaningful sentences using the same. They also shared books with their friends, thus instilling important life lessons of sharing as well as careful handling of books. Learners of Grade Prep took part in the ‘Buddy Reading Programme’, which witnessed them reading the books of their choice in pairs. It was an innovative way to improve comprehension and fluency while strengthening camaraderie. Parents from Grade I volunteered to be a part of the Reading Programme and enjoyed reading Sudha Murthy’s ‘How Earth got its beauty’ with the learners. Illustrations were created by learners to depict on paper their vision of a Clan and Green Mother Earth. They also presented book talks on their favourite books. Likewise, the Grade II learners enhanced their repertoire of vocabulary by identifying new words from books and finding their meaning using dictionaries. Reading was amalgamated with activities aimed at enabling learners to further advance their vocabulary and language skills. We are confident that the initiatives taken for encouraging learners to read will further augment their achievement in all subjects for we know that children who are good readers tend to achieve better across the curriculum.
“Christmas magic is silent. You don’t hear it-you feel it. You know it. You believe it” It was a sheer delight to see learners of Primary Wing celebrate Christmas with full enthusiasm on 23rd December 2022. Our adorable little learners were excited to dress up as Santa, and his Elves in green, white and red costumes. The PrePrimary learners joyously decorated the Christmas tree and danced on Christmas carols. They also took part in innovative games and relished delicious treats during the class party. To understand the essence of the festival, Grade Nursery also visited a church with their mentors. The enthusiastic learners of Grade I walked in style during the Ramp Walk, donning their Santa caps and merrily jiving to the tunes of peppy carols. Grade II learners on the other hand learnt about the joy of giving and also played the popular game ‘Secret Santa’. While Grade III learners were engaged in an enthralling game, wherein, they created unique titles for themselves by putting together names of different Christmas characters. They also enjoyed watching the movie Polar Express while savouring their favourite party food. The jingling of bells and sounds of carols reverberated through the day and filled our hearts with harmony and happiness. It is indeed true that the real spirit of Christmas lies in one’s heart.
