“Church is a place where love is evident, God delivers; lives change, hearts heal, and families are restored.” With joy and excitement in their hearts, the learners of Grade Nursery enriched their Christmas celebration by visiting the ‘Church of Immaculate Conception’ on Thursday, 22nd December with their peers and mentors. After a short bus ride with Christmas Carols adding frolic to the ambience, the learners arrived at the Church. The interiors of the shrine were decorated and welcomed the little visitors who were intrigued and carefully observed the beautiful iconostasis, which they had only seen in pictures earlier. The pious surroundings, prayer and the story of Christmas by the priest instilled in learners a sense of calmness and gratitude for all that we have. This reallife experience facilitated delightful hands-on learning about the virtues of Giving, Hope, Faith and Kindness associated with the festival of Christmas besides further enhancing various lifeskills of our learners.
Nothing teaches you more than exploring the world and accumulating experiences We firmly believe that educational trips are one of the most effective learning strategies for young minds. Learners get the opportunity to acquire information about new things in a less structured environment. It is these experiences that learners remember most from their time in school. Therefore, a field trip to ‘NeverEnuf Garden Railway’ was recently organized for our Grade II learners. After a short and fun-filled bus ride, the enthusiastic learners arrived at the Garden Railway. They were welcomed by an enchanting display of all kinds of miniatures, including boats, trains, cars and buildings…all laid out in a beautifully landscaped garden spread over an acre of land. The place drives home the significance of developing skill-based hobbies. Learners were excited to see the working models and were curious to know the nitty-gritties behind their functioning. They integrated the experiences gained from this outing with a chapter in EVS ‘Going Places’ and correlated the mechanism of motors to Robotics sessions conducted in school. The thrilling excursion concluded with a hands-on craft activity wherein the curious learners created a locomotiveshaped fridge magnet as a memento. The day of realistic experiences was full of joy and exhilaration for our blooming minds and will leave its imprints forever.
‘Research is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought.’ Research based learning involves investigation of concepts and theories that allows learners to become solution seekers through an exploratory approach. We aim to develop skills of enquiry, interpretation, analysis, application, invention and leadership in our learners. We believe that it is imperative to build these skills that will take our learners a step ahead in the forthcoming years. We take pride in following an integrated approach of learning with research-based activities in all subjects. To further strengthen these skills, our curious learners of Grade I researched and presented the unique features and food habits of their favorite animals. Enthusiastic learners of Grade II researched about Animal Kingdom. They investigated different categories of animals and listed their features along with other exciting facts in the form of a booklet. On the other hand, passionate learners of Grade III researched about their dream destinations and put together information regarding famous attractions, spoken language, travel preparations and culture. These activities have empowered our learners with problem-solving, logical, analytical and critical thinking skills. A mind engaged in research is an active one, eager to unlock and understand the unknown realms of life.
Art has the power to transform, to illuminate, to educate, inspire and motivate. Art Integrated Learning is a teachinglearning model, which is based on learning 'through the arts' and 'with the arts'. It is a process where art becomes the medium to understand concepts included in the curriculum. A consistent effort is made to ensure that learners get an opportunity to creatively exhibit their understanding of concepts through the language of their palettes. This year learners explored the diversities of two Indian states, namely Haryana and Telangana. We witnessed the learners of Grades I-III prepare innovatively and thoughtfully designed presentations showcasing beautiful unification of art with academics. The exuberant learners of Grade I engaged themselves in an activity integrating Art with Math and Environmental Science to create Mosaic Art by tearing and pasting bits of paper on the physical map of Haryana and Telangana. The enthusiastic learners of Grade II creatively made a booklet titled ‘Say It With Local- Diversity In Sports’, which was based on research conducted on the history and origin of sports of the two states, thus integrating arts with Health & Fitness. Likewise, the ingenious learners of Grade III showcased their artistic acumen by illustrating the traditional attires along with the staple food from both the states. These unique activities planned for our learners not only promoted critical thinking and creativity but also strengthened the link between education, Indian culture and ethos.
“Art isn’t what you see, Art is what you make others see.”
“Art isn’t what you see, Art is what you make others see.”
“Creativity is nothing but a mind set free.”
“Painting from nature is not copying the object, it’s realizing one’s sensations.”
Diversity in Sports
“There is no must in art because art is free.”
“Art doesn’t transform. It just plain forms.”
“The object of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity.”
“Art is the expression of the profoundest thoughts in the simplest way.” The school endorses the belief that engaging in creative pursuits of art and craft at an early age promotes selfexpression and fosters young minds to innovate. Taking this idea forward, the learners of Primary Wing are actively involved in activities that help them communicate their feelings in a positive and meaningful way. Our tiny tots from Pre-Nursery and Nursery were engaged in activities such as creating letter crafts, castles and sceneries using the fork painting and colouring technique. The curious learners of Grade Prep learnt to work with poster colours to complete theme-related art work and annual day crafts. In order to honour our Indian artisans and to promote our rich culture and heritage, Grade I learners created diyas, coasters, puppets and toy aeroplanes. Likewise, the keen learners of Grade II made clay pots, beaded jewellery and explored warli art, mehndi designs as well as tie and dye. Grade III learners were introduced to the technique of quilling to make jewellery and key chains. They also created Annual Presentation takeaways such as torans, jute craft, clay cups, lanterns, puppets and block painted items. Innovative activities based on Art and Craft play an important role in a child’s holistic development and serve as vital tools that fuel children’s curiosity, creativity and build their confidence.
The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written! New Year is the perfect time to make a change for the better. New beginnings are commemorated with lots of excitement and joy throughout the world. Our learners too engaged themselves enthusiastically in the New Year celebrations. Learners of Grade I wore dressy attires and relished their favourite delicacies while watching a movie with their peers. They created a beautiful greeting card and penned down their New Year resolutions. The zealous learners of Grade II enjoyed a picnic in School Greens with their peers and mentors along with savouring sumptuous meals. The exuberant learners of Grade III reveled in their camaraderie while tickling their taste buds with gourmet meals and watching the movie ‘Heidi’. Learners and mentors together reminisced their journey so far with a twinkle in their eyes and smile on their faces.
“Snowflakes are beautiful, pure and white and like children no two are alike” Learners filled the virtual classroom sessions with delight and vivacity on 16th January’ 23, the day school reopened after winter holidays. The session commenced with great enthusiasm for both learners and mentors. The morning prayer was followed by a plethora of activities planned for the learners. The vibrant learners of Pre-Primary Grades shared stories about the time spent during holidays and enjoyed participating in fun games and dance along with creating fascinating welcome craft. At the same time, the exuberant learners of Grade I presented their Winter Enrichment Work and were engaged in interesting activities such as sharing describing words for the time spent during holidays. Likewise, the learners of Grade II played the game ‘Guess the Name of The Movie’. The session also included singing, dancing and discussion of enrichment work. The zealous learners of Grade III wrote a letter to self, mentioning their new year resolutions. They also presented a very well-written autobiography along with enrichment work. The offline school began on Monday, 23rd January’ 23. The Primary Wing was abuzz with excitement and it was endearing to see our little learners entering the premises with happy and smiling faces. The day was brightened by an encouraging welcome note by our Director-Principal Ms. Anita Malhotra and was spent in fruitful learning through innovative activities planned by mentors. Learners happily spent the day in school reconnecting with peers and mentors.
“Learning to code is learning to create and innovate.” The school upholds a firm belief that there exists a strong relationship between spatial intelligence and academic excellence. Therefore, our learners are familiarized with Spatial Intelligence and Coding since early years to accelerate the adoption of mathematical, abstract reasoning and problem-solving skills. Mentors have the responsibility to show learners the path to the future by means of proper guidance. Therefore, a workshop on Spatial Intelligence and Coding was organized to make available a comprehensive hands-on experience to them. The workshop guided mentors to code and programme without the use of a computer language. Furthermore, several methods were discussed in the workshop using which a mentor can effectively engage every learner in the class.
