MY SG CLEAN TRIP I had fun time in Singapore with my mother, father and my little sister, Aadya. I floated in the sky by sky walking in Gardens by the Bay ! I loved the scary “spaghetti and meatballs” ride at Universal Studios. The zoo had a lot of animals but my mom scared me by taking me closer to the Meerkats. I tried different kinds of food but my favorite food was dough balls! I ate two kinds of dimsums, green and white which were served by a robot! The trip was fun because, no one worked or took any office calls. The best part of the trip was my hands were never dirty, as everything was Singapore (SG) Clean. MY FIRST TOY TRAIN RIDE In the summer of 2022, I went on my first toy train ride from Ooty to Coonor. I went with my parents, grand-parents and my twin-brother. The train was small and blue in color. When the train came to the station, I felt excited. I jumped and hopped on to the train. The train whistled and started to move slowly. We passed through many tunnels and bridges. I saw tall trees and many tea gardens. We sang songs and enjoyed watching the valley views. My brother and I also sang, “You can hear the whistle blow, a hundred miles”, taught us by our music teacher, Champ sir, in school. The Nilgiri hills are very beautiful. They are very green and there was no pollution. There was no trash. The train took one hour to reach. My mother told me that this train is a UNESCO declared site which means it’s very-very old. The train through its journey blew the whistle as it crossed small road crossings. I waved at the people on the road from the little train window. When I reached Coonor, I clicked lots of photos with my family and I will always remember this journey. AISHA PRASHAR I - A THE BUTTERFLY The flight is smooth like butter, Her wings always flutter. AN UNEXPECTED VISITOR It was a cold November evening. My mother went to the balcony to pick up the clothes. When she opened the door, she saw a strange looking bird. The bird rotated its neck. She immediately closed the door and came screaming towards us saying “there is an owl in the balcony”. We all got excited and started peeping through the window as white owls are rare. We kept on checking after every 10-15 minutes, whether the owl is still there. We all had an adventurous evening. The next morning, I asked my mother, “Is the owl still there?” To my surprise she replied “the owl is not there anymore but it sat on your clothes and they are dirty.” A ROYAL TRIP My parents took me for a holiday to Rajasthan. I stayed at a palace where the king still lives with his family. It was a big palace, and they welcomed us with music and a red carpet. I did a lot of fun activities. The palace had many peacocks. I went to a garden where I hunted peacock feathers from the bush. I was very happy to collect 7 feathers, now I have them at home. Chef Uncle took me to the kitchen where I learnt how to make coconut choco chip cookies. I mixed them and baked them with his help. My parents loved the taste. It was a great trip.I had a lot of fun. I would love to visit the palace again. ATRI CHAKRABORTY I - E AARADHYA KHULLAR I - D

MY IMAGINARY TRIP TO JAPAN I always wanted to visit Japan. Yesterday night, I had a dream that I was in Japan. I was so happy. I went to a restaurant named ‘Raifu’.The food over there was extremely delicious. I went to a library there and found a book titled, ‘How I taught my grandmother and other stories’. I read that book for two hours and then I saw an art class taking place. I joined the class and drew a Christmas scene. Then, I went to a zoo named ‘Fuji Safari Zoo’. I saw a lion and it jumped over me. I got scared. Then, my mother woke me up saying, “Nyra, Nyra, wake up.” I realised it was a dream. BOOKS! BOOKS! I feel there’s just one song to singAnd that’s a song of books! I can’t think of another thing, Except them and their looks. All year companions , these bleak soldiers Never leave my side. Summer evenings , winter dawnsWith me they abide. Books! Books! Right and left! Knowledge by the yard. Books! Books! Build and heft, And problems daunting hard. Books with dates and books with songs, And books that make you cry. Books that like great city throngs Went ever surging by. Awake it was a world of books! AARAN RAUT II - A NYRA KHANDELWAL II - C

A TRIP TO PENCH During the summer vacation, I visited Pench Wild Life Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh with my family. We travelled in a Gypsy, starting early in the morning. We saw many deer, hares and monkeys along the muddy tracks and even sitting on the roads. We saw a beautiful sunrise through tall trees and also white ghost trees. Birds were singing. We spotted an eagle, hawks, owls and many other birds. Near a lake, there were wild ducks, cranes and fishing birds. Deep in the forest were peacocks in majestic plumage, some stag deer with curving antlers, a sambhar tearing and eating the bark of trees. Deeper still there were bison, nilgai, wild boar, jackals and wild dogs. Then we moved to the canteen, in Mowgli Land with Mowgli`s statue. We feasted on lovely snacks and cool drinks. Finally, we went to see the elephants, the forest rangers` transport, where jeeps cannot go. We saw the kitchen where special food was being cooked for the pachyderms. Unfortunately, we could not see any tigers, but the night safari guide clicked pictures of tigers for us. It was a wonderful experience and I hope to go again. RISHAAN MATHUR II - D
EARLY MORNING VISITOR On the day of my school picnic, I was so excited that I got up early in the morning and as usual I went to the balcony to sit there, for a while. But that day, a pleasant surprise was waiting for me- a parrot. It was so beautiful and was different and bigger than the parrots I see in the vicinity. When I went closer, it stayed. But when I tried to touch it, it moved away a little. I was so happy to see it. I called my mother to show her our early morning visitor. My father got up too, disturbed by our chatter. We offered him chilly, apple and grapes to eat. I fed it with my hands and he was not afraid of my presence but still didn’t want to be touched. When I kept a big bowl of water, it took it for a bird bath may be and bathed nicely, putting its face, body and wings in the water, joyfully. After that it sat on the balcony rail to bask in the sun. I even gave it a name “Mitthoo” and I think it liked it. I wanted to keep it but my parents reminded me that like us, animals also like to live free. I was told to get going, else I will get late to the school. I was excited about the school picnic but now I wanted to stay home because of it. However, I had to go and before leaving for school, I fed some roasted grams and bid adieu to Mitthoo hoping it would still be there, when I came back. I think, it also liked me and waited for me to be back. I came home and seeing it again, I was on cloud nine. But it had other plans. Next morning, it woke us up with its high-pitched call and after its morning routine and meal, it left for its next destination. I reminisce about this early morning visitor, every time I go to the balcony. VIRAJ TONDON II - E

SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES The class assembly for Grade II-B was conducted on 25th August 2022. The title of the assembly was "Honesty is the Best Policy." The assembly began with the recitation of the morning prayer, which was according to the theme. The students understood that honesty is the best policy, even if one finds lying an easier option. Telling the truth is the best course of action. An honest person is always more courageous and confident than a dishonest person. The play was concluded with an enthralling dance performance conducted to the song "I Can’t Stop The Feeling." The students of Grade II-A conducted a Special Parent Assembly on 21st July 2022. As the theme of the assembly was ‘Wishes Granted’, the students started the assembly by giving wings to their imagination. They expressed their wishes and desires. The story line was excellent and quite relevant as it dealt with the experiences of both the father and son who had their roles reversed, the hilarious outcome of it and how living through each other’s life helped them to reconcile their differences and bridge the generation gap. The children learnt that each phase of life is so beautiful that we should live it to the fullest and be happy in the present moment. The assembly concluded with a quiz and a scintillating dance performance by the students.
