Next day too, the boy took his sheep to the same place. Again he
climbed the tree. The sheep were grazing. The sun was shining.
The farmers were working in the field. Everything was fine. He again
thought of playing a trick on the farmers. He shouted, “Help! Help!
A wolf is eating my sheep.” The farmers
came. They saw the sheep grazing. The
boy was laughing. The farmers warned
him not to do so again.
Third day too, the boy came with
his sheep. The sun was shining.

shouted, “Help! Help! A wolf is killing my sheep.” The farmers heard
him. They didn’t go to help him this time. They thought that the boy
was tricking them again. The wolf ate all his sheep. He came home

Do you watch TV programmes about animals? Why or

Last month the Discovery Channel filmed six children
at an elephant farm in Chitwan. What did they do? Ten-
year-old Ramesh told us about the trip.
We flew to Bharatpur with the film crew. Then we took a taxi and
went to Sauraha. After keeping our bags at a hotel, we walked to the
elephant farm.
The farm looks after baby elephants and some mother elephants as
well. The elephants are tied with iron chains. The caretakers have
a small house to live in. Sometimes, wild elephants may come. The
caretakers chase them away with the help of the elephants on the
farm.
When we reached there,
the caretakers were
feeding the elephants.
The tourists were taking
photos. The guides were
telling them about the
animals. We just saw the
place that day and came
back to the hotel.
Next day, along with the film crew, we went to the farm. We made our
tent near caretakers’ cottage. It was really scary! One boy didn’t like
snakes and the cameraman was scared of spiders. On the first night,
I was also frightened. I could listen to the sounds of wild animals. A
tiger was roaring just near our tent.
After five days, we finished our programme. It was a great experience.
We had a lot of fun. I can’t wait to watch the programme on TV!

One day, a man came
to their house. When

a night?” The couple

like.” Then the couple said ‘OK’.
Next morning, the man gave the three wishes to the couple. Then, he
left.
Now it was time to make wishes. First the lady wished for a banana
because she was hungry. The lady got the banana.
The husband got angry because she simply asked for a banana. She
didn’t ask for something better. He angrily said, “Let your nose be a
banana!”
So, the lady had a banana nose. Then the lady started crying. The
husband felt sorry. Finally, he wished for his wife’s normal nose. All
the wishes were over by the time. The couple still remained poor.

Reading
5 Read and learn.
Things are changing fast. What will happen in next forty years?
Well, you will be old enough to see the things. However, it can be
a fun to guess or predict.
Sometimes, our guesses
are correct. Besides, we
must learn to see future.
Only then, we can invent
something new. It is sure
that things will continue to
change. Some of the things
that we don’t have now will
come in future.
Soon, we will see a lot of changes in the
way we travel. There will be flying cars in
the sky. In Dubai, in February 2017 this
flying taxi was tested. The Dubai flying taxi
can carry a person or 100 kg in a flight. So,
such flying cars will fly over the crowded
cities soon.
English Skills Book - 4 179
Similarly, we won’t have
petrol or diesel cars. We will
have electric cars. Instead
of putting petrol or diesel,
we will charge our cars’
batteries like we do for our
mobile. Moreover, there will
come solar power cars and
aeroplanes.
There will be clean environment. There won’t be smoke everywhere
like today because we won’t use petrol and diesel. Actually, the petrol,
diesel and gas will be finished by then. We will not burn things much.
Space travel is another change.
People will be able to visit
the moon soon. There will be
restaurants in the space including
the moon. Most probably, people
will be able to go to the Mars.
Scientists will melt the ice in Mars
to make water. There will be cities
like the ones here on earth.
In the same way, schools will
also change. In future there will
be a robotic teacher. No human will teach students. A company will
produce a robotic teacher. Parents will buy the robotic teacher and
keep in a room. Children will push a button on it for study. Handwriting
will vanish. People won’t be writing anymore. They will speak to a
computer and it will write everything.
In addition, there won’t be paper books. All the books will come in
computers or tablets. Students won’t need to carry books in a bag.
Instead they will be carrying a tablet. Everything will be there.
Moreover, there will be audio books. Students will be listening to the
books. Besides, the books will be interactive. You can ask question to
180 English Skills Book - 4
the book. Listening to your command,
the electronic book will show the text on
the screen and tell you what to do as
well.
At home too we won’t use gas cylinders.
We will use electric ovens for cooking.
In some cities people have already
started cooking on electric ovens. Our
roof will completely change. We will
have many solar panels on our roof.
Everything is changing. In fifty years, the world will look completely
different. Everything will change: the way we use money, the way we
travel, the way we cook and the way we enjoy our holidays will all
change.
