SAINT-LOUIS,

SAINT-LOUIS,
WHEN CREATION & KNOW-HOW MELT
Unrivalled, dense, clear, sonorous and luminous, born of a ball of fire and the breath
of man, Saint-Louis crystal vibrates with the immense talent inherited from history and
the extraordinary creative fantasy inspired by current trends.
In 1767, Louis XV allowed the construction of a glassware manufacture on the location of
the previous Müntzthal glassware of the 16th century. The majesty conferred the title of Royal
Glassware of Saint-Louis to it. Fifteen years later, with the development of the manufacturing
formula of crystal, the manufacture became the Royal Cristallerie of Saint-Louis.
Since then, Saint-Louis signs every day crystal creations – tableware, vases, chandeliers
and lighting items – crafted by master glassb lowers and cutters considered to be among
the very best in France (“Meilleurs Ouvriers de France”). All possess irreplaceable knowledge
and ancestral skills that have been enriched from generation to generation: crystal is
mouth-blown, hand-cut, hand-engraved and hand-decorated using 24-carat gold or
platinum. Using these skills, they made from Saint-Louis the master of colours and cuts.
With a range of above 10 shades, either mass-coloured or cased, and a multiplicity of
cuttings from the emblematic diamond one, to the bevels through pearl, olive, star and
cord cuts, the brand offers a large variety of styles and exceptional creations.
Saint-Louis is truly a manufacture of its time, a blend of tradition and innovation that
never ceases to draw inspiration from contemporary artistic trends in order to renew
and shape its identity. In the wave of creativity that swept through the early 20th century,
between Art Nouveau and Art Deco, external designers brought their talents to bear at
Saint-Louis, artists such as Paul Nicolas, Jean Sala, Jean Luce, Michel Colle and Maurice
Dufrêne, to name but a few.
Today, Saint-Louis continues to call on the imagination and skills of designers who open
the way to new uses for crystal – and so the tableware, decorative object and lighting
collections are enriched by the creations of Eric Gizard, Hervé van der Straeten, Ionna
Vautrin, José Lévy, Kiki van Eijk, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, Paola Navone. They are objects
whose beauty magnifies the moments of pleasure and conviviality.

TELERI ANN JONES – 1992

José Lévy created a surprising pairing of different parisons of glasses from Saint-Louis’ iconic
collections. Beautiful objects both righside up and upside down. He plays with Saint-Louis’
shapes and colour palette, restyles, inverts and pairs them to create unique objects.
The glasses, decorative items, candlesticks… colour all your interiors. Imagine new uses
for them!

Folia
As a tribute to the forest that surrounds Saint-Louis’ manufacture and to creative folly, Noé
Duchaufour-Lawrance created the Folia cross-disciplinary collection. Alliance of the radiance
of crystal with the strength of wood, Folia is a contemporary vision of nature, from its cut,
leaf-shaped, to its clear or satin-finished crystal.

Thistle
1913
Emblem of the city of Nancy in France, the chardon (French for “Thistle”) was the original inspiration
behind a first service created in 1908. In 1913, the name was anglicized, becoming Thistle. Since
then, it sparkles nobly on the greatest tables. Venitian-style stripes, bevel cuts and a decoration
made from 24-carat gold or platinum adorn its parison. Thistle: more than 100 years-old and
as sharp as ever.
15
Tommy
1928
From its star-shaped base to the sparkling glints of the diamond, bevel, pearl and rim cuts, Tommy stands
as a timeless collection since 1928. Its straight lines have afforded elegance to the most refined interiors,
all the way to the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles. What if the exceptional became an everyday celebration?
Tommy spreads out its audacious colours to offer functional new creations for contemporary uses.

play of light. With Twist 1586, it is the universal language of intuition that guides our connoisseur

Versailles
1950
Created in 1950 the Versailles vase tests the strength and precision of Saint-Louis glassblowers
and glasscutters: no less than seven to eight weeks of work are necessary for the creation of its
largest model. The shape and the design, with the diamond and slice cuts, are inspired by the urns
in the Garden of Versailles. The purest expression of the French style.
