ROTARY BLOOD BAN

BANK



Delhi Rotary Blood Bank with a mission "No one shall suffer in and around Delhi, for want of blood", is
a state of the art 100% voluntary donor based modern blood bank. More than 500,000 units were
collected from 6025 camps touching lives of nearly 600,000 patients, is a phenominal achievement.
The blood bank is run by RI Dist. 3011 and RI Dist. 3012.

GIFT OF SIGHT

Rotary Club of Borivli RI District 3140,
Maharashtra established state of the art
eye bank with a view to alleviate corneal
blindness. The eye bank has collected
more than 2,868 eye balls and gave gift
of sight to 981 beneficiaries. The project
was supported by Rotary Club of
Davenport RI District 6000 and the total
project cost is US $ 117,000.

RAY OF HOPE

Rotary Club of Mumbai Cuffee Parade RI Dist. 3141, Maharashtra has provided a Video Endoscopy
System to Tata Memorial Centre for Diagnostic and therapeutic purpose for patients with Gastro Intestinal
Malignancy. The project costed US $ 34,000 and benefits nearly 1,000 patients every year.

RAHAT

Medical Camps to provide Health Check-up, Diagnostics and Medicines were conducted at
19 places to benefit more than 60,000 people at a total cost of US $ 99,455 by Rotary
International Dist. 3040 with the support of Rotary International Dist. 6900. More than 1000
Rotarian families and 100 Rotaractors participated in this 3 Day event.

EYE CARE

Rotary District 3110, Uttarpradesh has provided
Equipment for conducting Cataract Operations to
an Eye Hospital in Firozabad, a small town in
Uttarpradesh. The Eye Care Centre in the last six
months has provided service to more than 6,000
patients and conducted nearly 1,200 cataract
operations. The equipment costed US $ 61,000.

PACR ROTARY BLOOD BANK

A 24/7 Blood Bank is being operated by Rotary Club of
Rajapalayam, RI Dist. 3212 and is supplying around 300 bags
of screened quality blood to needy patients every month at a
very nominal price. The equipment for the blood bank was
provided with the support of RI Dist. 5580 of USA.

UJJAIN BLOOD BANK

60% of the entire requirement of blood in Ujjain is provided by the blood
bank sponsored by Rotary Club of Ujjain RI Dist. 3040, Madhya Pradesh.
The Blood Bank was supported by Rotary Club of Bergamo Nord RI Dist.
2040 and Rotary Club of Charlotte South RI Dist 7680.
Every year more than 6,000 units of whole blood and around 1500 units of
components are supplied.

GIFT OF SIGHT

Rotary Club of Proddatur, RI Dist. 3160, Andhra Pradesh with an aim of preventing and eradicating
avoidable blindness is running a Eye Hospital. More than US $ 261,000 was spent on purchasing high
end equipment and performing surgeries with the support of Rotary Club of Saginaw Sunrise RI Dist.
6310, Rotary Club of Dover, RI Dist. 1120 and Rotary Club of Saginaw Valley RI Dist. 6310. The hospital
has screened more than 600,000 patients and performed 36,000 surgeries.



VISION CARE

Rotary Club of Bangalore West RI Dist.
3190, Karnataka is running the Eye Care
Centre providing Free Cataract Surgeries
to poor patients.

More than 20,000 patients were screened
using the newly acquired mobile van the
last 8 months and provided free spectacles
where necessary. On an average
around150/160 cataract surgeries, 35/40
Glaucoma treatments and 10/15 Diabetic
Retinopathy treatments are done every
month

27,000 + Cataract Surgeries valued at Rs.
3.50 Crores were performed free of cost.

US $ 324,000 was spent in creating
equipment and facilities at the centre.



REACHOUT TO AFRICA

37 Inter Continental Medicare Projects were undertaken by 8 RI Districts in India and 21 Districts of Africa,
USA, England, Canada, Italy, Cambodia and Taiwan. These Medical Projects were under taken in 14 Countries
of Africa. A Total of 355 Doctors comprising Ophthalmologists, Orthopedic Surgeons, Dental Surgeons, ENT
Surgeons, Gen. Surgeons, Plastic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Gynecologists, Pathologist and Physicians worked
for these missions inaddition to volunteers, local Doctors, local Rotarians and Rotaractors.







A total number of 41,080 surgeries were performed by
the doctors including 21,720 IOL operations, 6,120 polio
corrective surgeries, 9,764 Dental, 840 ENT, 987
Gynecology, 1070 Plastic / Gen. Surgeries and 579 related
to Pathology. More than 200,000 patients were examined
during these missions.

RI District 3131, 3132, 3080, 3291, 3170, 3240, 3060,
3250 and 3090 participated and supported this reaching
out programme to support Africa in the field of Health
care.

GIFT OF VISION

Rotary Club of Balasore RI District 3262
fulfilled the dream of providing a full
fledged Eye Hospital to the community
materialized with the support of RI District
1120, 1110 and 1145 of USA. Hospital
examines about 60 patients in a day and
50 surgeries are performed in a month.
The project costed US $ 74,056.

CRITICAL CARE CENTRE

Rotary Club of Jorhat, RI District 3240,
Assam has established an eight bedded
state of the art ICU with all the
equipment for the benefit of the
community. More than 18,000 critically
ill patients were benefitted from the
facility. It costed US $ 65,000 and was
supported by Rotary Club of Everett
(USA), District 5050 (USA), Rotary
Club of Apple Valley (USA), Rotary Club
of Victorville (USA) and District 5300
(USA).



MODULAR THEATRES

Rotary Club of Guntur Aadarsh, RI District 3150 with the support of Rotary Club of Stockton Sunrise RI District
5220 has provided 4 Modular Operation Theatres, 12 Ventilators, One Haemo Dialysis Machine, Physiotherapy
Equipment, Functional electrical Stimulator and other Urology equipment to the Government Hospital. The total
project costed approximately US $ 300,000.

COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE

Rotary Club of Ambattur RI District 3230 is running the 24/7 Rotary Hospital for the benefit of the under previleged.
On an average the hospital performs 95 surgeries, 13041 dialysis and 10,500 Cerebral Palsy Rehabilitations during the
year. The hospital also has a cancer screening facility for women. It also undertook 445 free cataract surgeries screening
5160 patients. The hospital was supported by clubs from UK, Australia and Germany for acquiring the equipment and
providing treatment. The total cost involved was US $ 69,500.



WATER AND SANITATION

Clean water and sanitation is a human right. When people,
especially children, have access to clean water, sanitation,
and hygiene, they lead healthier and more successful lives.

We don't just build wells and walk away. Rotary members
integrate water, sanitation, and hygiene into education
projects. When children learn about disease transmission
and practice good hygiene, they miss less school. And they
can take those lessons home to their families, expanding
our impact.

Rotary has issued a global challenge to its members, asking
them to work collectively to improve education quality and
access - particularly for girls - by working with communities
to improve teacher training, curriculum, and water,
sanitation, and hygiene facilities.

Rotary Club of Bombay, RI Dist. 3141, JAL JEEVAN
Maharashtra with the support of Rotary Club
of Detroit, USA has set up 2 Water Centres
in the Slums of Mumbai benefitting nearly
20,000 inhabitants. The project was
implemented at a cost of US $ 52,850. The
self help group managing the drinking water
facility is also benefitted economically.

WATER FOR LIFE Rotary Club of Chennai Galaxy, RI Dist. 3230,
Tamilnadu with the support of Rotary Club of Geleen
RI Dist. 1550 has installed RO Plants in 59
Government and Aided Schools for the benefit of
more than 100,000 students and 25,000 teaching
and non-teaching staff helping them to avoid water
borne diseases. The total project cost is US $
215,000.



PROVIDING CLEAN WATER
TO SLUM DWELLERS





Rotary Club of Rajkot Midtown RI Dist
3060 Gujarat with the support of Rajkot
Municipality and funding from Rotary
Winona (Minnesota, USA) has
constructed a Check-Dam to harness
rain water for the 150,000 slum
dwellers of Rajkot City. A pipe line of 1
mt. dia. for 7 km. was laid to transport
the water to the reservoir. The water
from the reservoir were distributed
through water tankers. The cost of the
project was US $ 627,000.

WATER IS LIFE

Rotary Club of Parchur Central RI District
3150 has taken up the mission of providing
clean drinking water.

The club has installed a facility of 8,000
litres per hour RO unit, built a water tank,
put up a fencing for the village pond and
laid pipeline to the tank for supply of water
to the plant as well as the villagers. The
project benefitted around 30,000 people
in the area. The project was supported
by Rotary Club of Davenport, RI District
6000, USA. The total project costed US
$ 74,200.





PROJECT
DIGNITY

Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar,
RI District 3291 has constructed
1000 low cost household toilets in
rural areas at a cost of US $ 54,001.
The project was supported by
Rotary Club of Dubbo, Australia, RI
District 9670. 5000 people
benefitted from this sanitation
project.

WASH in SCHOOLS - A WINNING

COMBINATION

Rotary Club of Mumbai West Coast RI Dist. 3140, Maharashtra
along with RC Edinburgh, Scotland and other clubs from RID 3140,
RID 1020 and RID 5930 constituted a project worth US $ 200,500.
The project will oversee WASH in Schools in Rural Maharashtra.
46 schools have benefited. 126 toilets for girl students were built
along with provision of incinerator for Menstrual Hygiene
Management (MHM) and Hand Wash stations for children. Training
was imparted to children, teachers and parents about WASH.

Rotary Club of Guntur RI Dist.
3150, Andhra Pradesh with

USA has constructed Toilet
Blocks at Pedanandipadu
Village, 30 km from Guntur, in
a school with 1500 children.
The Toilet Block, Group Wash
Station and reverse osmosis
plants costed US $ 60,000.



Safe Drinking Water is being provided
through Reverse Osmosis Plants to the
villages of Gopapuram & Appapuram with
the support of Rotary Club of Saginaw
Sunrise, Dist. 6310 USA benefitting more
than 3,000 families
