Student Magazine for the

My Special Day

Dear Diary,

Today was a very special day for me because today was my birthday. I got ready
in a record time of 5 minutes and was not surprised to see many gifts laying on
the table, waiting for me to open them. Everyone wished me happy birthday and

I felt very elated. My father gave me a branded watch and my mom gifted me a
new badminton racquet. I was on cloud nine at that time.
After I finished the opening the majority of the presents, my grandmother took a
really heavy looking gift from under the table which was hidden from my view. I

took the gift from them and opened it and saw myself looking at the entire series
of Percy Jackson books. I smiled and thanked them profusely. My grandparents
knew that I took an interest on reading books from an early age and gift me an
entire series of books every year on my birthday. To admit it, I felt slightly

disappointed when I saw that this year, they forgot to get me presents, but I was
over the moon when they pulled out the present from under the table. Finally,
after I opened the presents, we proceeded to cutting and eating the cake. It's the

same everyone year, Chocolate Fudge cake with raspberry or white chocolate
mousse and vanilla buttercream, my favorite. All my friends attended the party
except my best friend who moved few months ago. I miss her terribly. suddenly
someone knocked on the door, and when my mum opened it my best friend was

standing there. I laughed joyously, with tears glistening in my eyes and I ran
towards her and embraced her. I took her present, thanked her for coming and
for the present. I opened the present for it to reveal itself into a photo album. I
flipped through the pages and saw many photos of us together. I will never forget

this moment.
Today turned out to be a wonderful day, a day I will never forget. I hope today
lasts forever and for my next birthday to be as special as today. I have to go seeing
that my friends will spend the night here for a sleep over. We shall watch movies,

have dinner and have a bonfire in our backyard.

My Life During the Lockdown

Life is a roller coaster with its innumerable ups & downs and twists & turns.
Before the lockdown, we were like free birds going wherever our heart desired. I
always thought that after the exams, I would only play badminton with my
friends and just enjoy outdoors, but here we are, stuck at our home during the
pandemic.
During this pandemic, I learned many things and became closer to my family.
Earlier life was a rat race and all of us were so busy, there was hardly any time
we spent together, but now the whole day we are together. We started enjoying
many things like playing cards and other board games. Moreover, I also learned
some household work like putting the washing and setting the utensils. This
pandemic also makes me realize and appreciate the hard work that our parents
put to keep everything going.
I also started reading books on the kindle which is surprisingly fun. Personally,
the lockdown wasn’t that boring as I had a lot of things to do. I started my book
rental business in my society and launched a website www.littlereaders.in as
well as my mother’s business website www.littleinventors.in. That sure gave me
a sense of achievement.
I want to continue the family time we had during this lockdown and also the
amount of time I could spend on coding. This lockdown was hard but not
unbearable. I learned that we should always be ready for such situations and enjoy
whatever comes our way.

Dilemma

A dilemma is a situation where we have 2 or more difficult choices. It could be
anything, whether you want boil your eggs, or make them into an omelet! In some
cases, you could even find an alternative, like we could use those eggs to make
waffles instead. But the decision that you make, will make you.
Once one is presented with a dilemma, it is essential to identify the problem, this
is important so we can analyze the problem and the choices. When making
a choice it’s important to consider the consequences it has, as that will define the
path we will have ahead. We should also view the choices in an unbiased way.
Sometimes when there are paths that we can’t see, which are alternatives we have
to search for and could be a better way to go then the others.
Dilemmas are tough choices to make, but if we analyze and observe properly, it
can become significantly easier, we just have to choose the right path.

Into the Sea: Shark Edition

We all know life does not just exist on or
land, but also the depths of the sea are the
homes of the living. Do you know that there

are more than 1000 species of sharks alive,
well that too may be decreasing, thanks
to us humans! But we need not worry
much as these amazing creatures as the

number of sharks keep building and
building. That is the beauty of our ecosystem. Well,
not a lot of people identify the types of sharks that can

cannot be around us. So, here I will be lettering a few of
commonly seen shark species.

1. Ragged Tooth Shark-

These species of sharks are very commonly

found, but they mostly are originated at
the tip of South Africa. These sharks are
great hunters and are as deadly as getting
trampled by an elephant because of the vast

number of teeth they keep growing
constantly. I am not kidding. The Ragged
Tooth Shark (you get it from the name) have

teeth that are grown all the time. It is
almost unimaginable of how many teeth
they have because they keep growing, falling, growing, and falling and, you get
the idea. Imagine if we humans had the same type of teeth as these sharks.

2. Blacktip Shark-

Well, there is a lot of information on

this shark as it is the star in planning
and patience throughput its lifetime.
You heard me right! They are like the
ants in water. Now, what is the most

common characteristics in sharks,
they are great fishing skills and great
ears, same does this guy have. But
what is special about this shark is that

they have special sensory organs
which help all the Blacktip sharks

66 |Shri Darpan

come to the same place to catch fish at one place! I forgot to add, they are
the experts behind teamwork. Once all the sharks come to the common place,
they work together. Here is their formula: some of the sharks’ swim underneath,
while others circle the fish bringing them together (herding) and when the
moment is right, they start attacking. Wow! Amazing how all of them worked
together to solve each other’s problems. That is what is called teamwork.

3. Tasseled Wobbegong-

You might be feeling
by looking at the picture,
“But hey, that is a fish,
isn’t it?,” well yes, it is a
species of fish, but because
of sharks are also fish, it
was classified into a shark.
Pretty legit, huh?
So, this shark is a species
originating from the
eastern seas of Indonesia
and is one of the greatest
hunters in the history of
sea life. Want to know
why? Well, it is always
about procedure, you know
the way of doing. They are the king of disguise as that is the first step to their
“fishy” success. Now, let me tell you, their procedure. Since
the Tasseled Wobbegong looks like coral, it first lays down near a bunch of real
coral, but their favorite hideout is near caves. And because of their sharp eyes,
they can sense any movement in the water and start the mimicry act. The tail of
the Tasseled Wobbegong mimics a fish, and as the fish comes near,
the Wobbegong quickly gulps it down the throat. Woah! That was good!

4. Greenland Shark-

This species of sharks is incredibly
unique, but to start us off, they live
in the coldest part of the Earth, seas
of Antarctica. They can travel up to
only a kilometer only because that is
how they are given, but they can live
up to 200 years, more than a lot of

67 |Shri Darpan

the species of the sharks. Due to the lack of some required organs, they can eat
anything they want. And because it lives in the depths of the sea, it lives an
exceptionally long and lonely life.
To conclude this article, I would like to send out a few depraved things happening
to these incredible creatures. 100 million sharks are killed every year because our
greediness. If we continue this action, no shark would survive. 800 whale sharks
and 300 manta rays converge on an area less than half a mile wide. I did say that
we do not have to worry about sharks as they start recreating every day, but if
illegal hunting and poaching continues, I might have to take the statement back.
So, let us allow these creatures to roam in the waters freely.

The Hidden Oracle - Rick Riordan

My name is Apollo. I used to be a god. In my four thousand, six hundred and
twelve years of existence, I have done many things. But never had I crash-landed
into a dumpster with no memory except my father, Zeus’s voice booming in my
head “Your Fault, Your Punishment!” I just lay there groaning and coughing, my
body in pain from landing in a dumpster. Us, gods are not supposed to crash land
into dumpsters. How, then, was I here? I tried to stand up and realized that I was
in a mortal body. No, it cannot be, I thought. I tried to change into a bird,
glittering rays of the sun and many other things that would have been easy for
me as a god. Alas, I was no longer a god and was a stuck in a mortal body like
yours. Your mortal bodies are like meat sacks that once you are stuck in only
someone with more power can get you out. I checked my pockets for the keys to
the sun chariot but all I could find was a wallet containing 100$ and a driver’s
license. Then two boys came into the alleyway and I could feel my inner sense
trying to warn me. But, even if I was turned into a mortal like you, my thinking
was still like a god’s. So, I did the first thing that came to my mind. At my highest

voice I tried to shout but it came out like a squeak and said “Bow to me or be

destroyed.” One kid said to the other “You feel like bowing to this guy, Cade”?
“Nah, what was the other option, Mikey”? asked Cade. “Be destroyed” Mikey
answered. “Huh? How about we destroy him instead?” “Sounds great to

me.” Then as soon as I was about to attack these mortals a bag of garbage
exploded in my face and I lost consciousness.

A Meal That I Enjoyed!

Today, I came home with my feet blistered and with an enormous
sun burn. My mother was furious to look at me in such a condition for I had
come home yet again with blisters on a hot summer day of May.
After listening to her lecture that went on an hour like a train on a long
unending track, I went upstairs to my room and sat there with my hand upon
my forehead. I can get pretty emotional and down when someone shouts at me
like a ball of fire.
I heard footsteps approaching my room; I knew it was my mom coming to
apologies for what she had done but it was father feeling sorry and empathetic
about my condition.  He shared a few consoling words and asked me if I wanted
to have a scoop of delicious and mouthwatering ice cream to cheer me up.   I

88 |Shri Darpan

straight away denied his offer but my dad insisted and I didn’t with to let him
down.

We went in his car and I knew he was off to some better place which was quite
far away.  In a while my eyes caught a huge store with a banner on top of it
that said “NATURALS” in bold green letters.  My dad bought a refreshing
scoop of the coconut for me.  When I licked it, I felt as if I was in heaven leading
the next relaxing life, flying in the air as if I had superpowers!  Finally, my dad
had to tap me to get me back on ground reality.  Until this day I can't forget
its taste that melted my heart especially during this pandemic as it
seems that this day was a hundred years ago!

My Favourite Dish – Egg Biryani!

The special meal for me is egg biryani as it is so tasty with the flavor of Indian
spices; since it is usually homemade, it means that it is the best food.  It
is a biryani and, therefore, it is as spicy as a biryani.  It’s just so
wonderful.  Some time when you are consuming it, there will be a soft sinking
into the egg and at others the crunchiness of the fried rice.  Heavenly!

- Hrushikesh Rao Gudipudi VII B

Mango– The King of Sweetness!

Summer season is known for the ‘king of fruits’ - Mangoes.  This divine
fruit is what summer fun is all about.  Without mango juice or Aamras,
summers are incomplete.  The juicy and sweet mangoes are truly
comfort foods; they not only provide satisfaction to our tongue but also to our
tensed and stressed mind.  For me mangoes are relief food.  Mangoes are
worthy of praise for they are as soft as cushion in your hand, as juicy as a
tomato but much much better. The taste of mangoes is unforgettable and I
have realized that this fruit is delicious in any form.  I love mango juice.  I long
for summer and I will be waiting for you forever.  Mango juice is made in our
house every summer.  The sweetness of mangoes in unbeaten No man
made sweet or mithai can live up to its taste; hence, after eating I have given it
a new name - THE KING OF SWEETNESS.  I would say that I
reach paradise of fruits when I eat mangoes.  I want all the fruits to go out

existence and only my favorite fruit mangoes to stay on the globe and I want

to finish them all.

The Heist!

The Revival

This is it. The day I get released from prison. I have been waiting for this day
ever since my good-for-nothing partner framed me and got me sentenced to
eight years in prison. For eight years I have been rotting in prison waiting for

parole, being a good inmate, doing my time as a man. But my parole never comes.
That scumbag had all the cops on his payroll. But now, I am free, he can't even
touch me. And the first thing on my agenda is to rob him or more specifically

his building, The Lourve.

The Plan

I had a lot of time to visualize and play the heist. The plan was simple but

perfect. I would install a backdoor in Karmen Securities (The lourve's private
security) while posing as a checkup data analyst. I already had the badge and
clothes from my previous heists. Then I would hack the cameras and look for a
blind spot. Once found, I would place a communication jammer on the blind
spot, and voila, I control the cameras. For the wall pressure alarms on the
paintings, my nanobots would dissolve the alarms. The paintings I would steal

are Leo's favourite, The Raft of Medusa, The Coronation of Napoleon, and

the Salvator Mundi, all in the same room. The only problem is

the Salvator Mundi's glass box. It requires a special magnetic key to unlock.
The 5 inches thick, 3 ft long bulletproof glass is also vacuumed and airlocked.

If somehow, I get the key and unlocked the Salvator Mundi, I plan to escape
through the trash chute and speed into the distance with my Ducati Sport

100.

The Heist

It's three o'clock in the morning; it was satan's hour. And revenge is a dish best

served cold. I walked to the air vents near the chute and crawled inside. It was
a tiny little space and had no light whatsoever. Thankfully, I had brought a
flashlight just in case. For the guards, I had ventilated toxic gas to make them
unconscious. I dropped out in the Romanian architecture dorm next to the

90 |Shri Darpan

targeted dorm. My gas mask was at 78%, I had to make things quick.
Everything was going according to plan - I had bagged the Medusa and the
Napoleon painting but then out of the blue came an enforcer. "Enforcers wear
gas masks, damn," I told myself. But then suddenly I had an idea to use my
stun gun to make an iron rod electromagnetic. Then I threw it at the enforcer
causing her suit to malfunction and short circuit. Luckily, she had the master
key to the Salvator Mund. After stealing all the paintings, I was pacing with
adrenaline. My heart was beating at 400bmps. Before leaving. I wanted to
personalize the room with the touch of 'The Ghost Rider' (The FBI's nickname
for me). I spray painted everything red and left a note on the box saying,"
Sorry, all out of mercy." Then I raced out from where I came from. Then like
a whisper in the wind, I too rode feeling victorious and having avenged myself
just made the devil inside me alive.

Memories from My Quarantine Days!

“Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.”
– Hellen Keller

This quote perfectly describes the current situation of the world. Nature has
pressed the pause button temporarily to help us rediscover life.

When the lockdown was first announced, I didn’t really pay attention to it or
care about it. But when I realized the agony the people in this world were
facing, I realized the gravity of the situation, I along with my family went into
self-isolation. When this lockdown first started, I was sure that it would only
last a few weeks. But in vain, the reality was far away from our expectations.

It almost seemed certain that the battle against coronavirus was going to be
a long one, so instead of getting lost in the cloud of gloom, I decided to change
this challenge into an opportunity. And now, I am really satisfied that I have
honed my skills in coding by learning CSS, JS, HTML. I have learned a lot
about binary and web development through my coding classes. I have also
made many memorable achievements in coding during this lockdown. I have
successfully made my very own website and I am feeling proud about this. I
have also made a chatbot about COVID-19. I had put a lot of effort into my
work and finally I have triumphed. I will remember these achievements for the
entirety of my life.

91 |Shri Darpan

I would like to conclude that the overcoming of COVID-19 is not far away and
we should keep hope that one day we can start living the old normal.

A Cheat Meal to a Treat Meal!

Who does not love eating outside? I love it too. Those cheesy pizzas, that
Italian pasta, those Himalayan momos and the under rated pancakes – just the
thought of them makes my mouth water.

However, when you eat them outside, it causes a serious impact to the organs
and sabotages any effort put in for our fitness goals.  What is the way
around?  What if we make all these lip-smacking dishes at home?

Let us get started for our lip-smacking cuisine. Here I am going to share my
top picks.

  Whole Wheat Pizza
Pizza is the number one choice of most people, so let us make a healthier
version of this Italian pizza at home. Take a cup of whole wheat flour and a cup
of water and a teaspoon of cold pressed sesame oil. Knead it until it forms a
dough and cover it with a wet towel. Take a plate and grease it with some
butter. Keep the dough on the plate and spread it. After that press the dough
with a fork and apply some butter over it.

Instead of unhealthy readymade sauces, we will add a paste of sautéed onions
and tomatoes. Add some cheese and your favourite vegetables, such as carrots,
tomatoes, capsicum, paneer, mushrooms etc. Sprinkle some chilli flakes, rock
salt and black pepper.

Now comes the fun part. Take a wok and pour half a kilogram of table salt,
which will help our wok to mimic an oven. Place a stand 2-3 inches above the
salt level and place the plate on the stand. Cook it for 15 to 18 minutes.  That’s
all, pizza is ready. With the richness of whole wheat flour (atta) and vegetables
it still tastes delicious, surely worth a try.

Indian Style Pasta

92 |Shri Darpan

This Indian Style Durum Wheat Pasta may become your next favourite. Keep
a pressure cooker on the stove and pour four cups of water; add two cups of
durum wheat pasta and two teaspoons of cold pressed sesame oil. Let the water
boil; later strain the hot water and wash the pasta in cold water so that it does
not overcook.  Let it rest for some time.

On a pan, add two teaspoons of cold pressed sesame oil and add your favourite
vegetables. Then add the pasta, a pinch of rock salt and black pepper. Turn
off the flame and drizzle two teaspoons of sauce (mixture of sauté onions and
tomatoes). The traditional flavour of this pasta can be felt by its mouth-
watering taste due to the addition of those tangy tomatoes. So, give it a try.

Whole Wheat Momos

One of the most popular street foods, momos are a go to treat. Let us treat
ourselves to this at home. In a bowl of whole wheat flour add, two cups of
water and two teaspoons of cold pressed sesame oil along with a pinch of rock
salt. Knead the dough as you would usually do for a chapatti. Cover it with a
wet cloth and leave it aside for 30 minutes.

Take a wok and drizzle two teaspoons of cold pressed sesame oil and add
grated cabbage and carrot, mix it well. You’re filling for the momos is ready.
Now let us go back to the dough. Pleating the momos is what gives them their
authentic look. Simply, plea the edges by folding them in. Now all you need to
do is to steam the momos for 10 minutes. Your whole wheat momos are
ready.

With the goodness of whole wheat flour and vegetables, it tastes like heaven -
 surely worth a try.

SELF COOKING is even more enjoyable than watching a random episode on
TV during this pandemic and it surely is a fun activity to indulge while
satiating the taste buds too!

The Mouse and Christopher!

Christopher spotted a mouse at the kitchen window at the end of a long day.
The mouse was eating the cheese with his friends in a small room.

93 |Shri Darpan

Christopher being a kind hearted person went there to find out what
happened.

On the way, somebody trapped Christophe in a brown jute bag and kept it near
a red car. Even though Christopher was shouting for help, nobody helped him
fearing that he himself could be kidnapped. Only the mouse cared to listen to
him. All the mice nibbled the bag carefully and released him. Christophere was
very delighted and thanked the mouse. The mouse invited him for dinner. One
special feature of the mouse was that he was very magical. He could make any
person small or big. The mouse gave a magical potion to Christopher as he
was too big to enter the mouse hole.

As soon as Christopher drank the magical portion, he became as small as the
mouse and went inside. The whole world was upside down. The mouse turned
into a fairy with wings and wands. There were so many delightful fruits and
candy and children were playing merrily. It was raining gold coins and
diamonds instead of rain drops. Christopher was very happy and thanked the
fairy for inviting him. He also helped some person who was hurt.

The fairy was impressed with his behaviour and gave him a boon that
he would be the happiest person on earth.

A New School – A New Friend!

When I shifted to a new school, I didn’t know anything about the place. I
thought it will be very hard for me to make friends and catch up with others;
thus, I was very worried.

Everything was different at the new school and it was very hard to find a place
for me. When the teacher started introducing everyone, I realized that a lot of
people were also new to the school.

I had to sit beside an old student. He was very open and very kind to me. He
was also a fast writer. He and I were supposed to sit in the back seat which
made it harder for me to see. I was very shy to ask the teacher if I could come
to the front seat. Therefore, I asked my friend if I could copy from him as I
could not see the board. He was very kind and readily agreed to share his work
with me.

94 |Shri Darpan

Just then, the bell rang and I had to go to my next class. It was my first activity
class. It was very fun. I also got to know about a lot of people. There I started
making friends.

And, before I knew it, I was at home in a new school – The Shri Ram Universal
School Hyderabad.

- Inesh Chikatimarla VII B

My First Day in a New School!

I went to a new school when I was in third grade. I was new to the city as well.
New schools had always been terrifying for me. No one talks to you on your
first day and it takes a while to get used to new places.
I opened the front gates and an unfamiliar aura surrounded me. I slowly
walked in and looked for my class. I couldn’t find it so I asked a girl whom I
had seen in my bus while coming to school.
"Hi, do you know where 3A is?” I asked.
“Hi! Go straight and take left,” she replied.
“Thanks,” I said.
“No problem,” she replied, “even I am in 3A. Do you want to walk to
class with me?’’

“Sure,” I replied.
We walked to class together and sat beside each other. She told me all about
the school, the teachers and the students. The bell rang after the English class.
It was lunch time and she gave me directions to the lunch hall and we had loads
of fun talking while eating our food.
After going back home, I realized that you should not be terrified of new
experiences.”

- Ishita Shrivastava VII B

New Experiences!

When I first came to Kondapur, I remember my expression on seeing the
buildings. The traffic was never ending. Gradually I settled down and was
introduced to my new school. I didn’t take much time making friends where I
live but it was hard in school. The friends at home were trust worthy and
the neighbours were kind enough but all this took time.

In school, at first, it was boring like a free lecture; however, I soon got used
to it.  I had time to take in new things; new kind of ways such as eating in
school provided by the school but it was hard to participate in stage assembly.

Something very new happened in my new home. New friends, new study,
new free time and much more.  Today, I am so comfortable and the newness
and strangeness has vanished.

- Manaswini Mannava VII B

Best Friends!

Best Friends are the only people who will bring a smile to your face when you
are sad . An old English quote says says `A friend in need is a friend indeed’
believe in this statement as a true friend is a person who helps us no matter
what and stands with us and for us when we are in need of someone or when
we are lonely.

Everyone needs a best friend for various reasons; sometimes we share
something which we do not want to share with our parents. A pal is someone
who shares your happiness as well as your sorrows.   She or he will always be
willing to give a hand rather than letting you down. A mate gives you good
vibes when next to you and makes you feel comfortable to talk or share
things.  A best friend is also a person who thinks the best for you and whom
you can lean against during difficult phases of your life.  They care for you,
understand you and stay with you despite distance, time and word. Best friends
encourage you to go forward.  They are the hardest to find as finding a person
with whom you resonate is difficult.

96 |Shri Darpan

For me my best friend always has a special place in my heart no matter how
far away we are and how many times we have fought. Best friends fill our life
with never ending love from both sides. They are like mirrors which never lie
and a shadow which never leaves. They will never forget all the
memories we have shared with them.  Sometimes being with your best friend
is the only thing you need in life.

-Naga Rishika Vuppala VII B

New Friends!

I was 12 when I first shifted to Hyderabad. It was difficult and also a bit scary
to communicate with people. I joined my new school in the month of August.
I was very conscious about my English as I was not a good speaker. It took
me a year to learn English.   Even now my vocabulary is still not good.

When I used to go down to play, people used to tease me.  Gradually, I met
new friends and communicated with them online. After a few months, people
started liking me because they felt that I was kind and polite; this was a
conscious effort so that I can attract people to become my friends.

I was as shy as a fawn. I was very shy to talk to boys and also felt
annoyed when it came to playing football with my new friends. One day
suddenly I realized that if I showed my own talent to other people,
they might think that I am not good and don't have any talent. Then, finally, I
started talking to boys and my new friends also kind of became my best friends.
Now everything is good. My friendship is like the smooth flow of water and
like a magnet which never gets repelled.

- Navya Sur VII B

My Favourite Meal!

It was New Year’s Eve. I was getting bored of eating the same food -
dal chawal, which tasted nothing less than thin air.

I was sad thinking about New Year eve just being as bad as 2020. I sat in my
room near the window, sad and gloomy when suddenly my mom called us for
the boring dinner. At least that is what I thought. I came to the dining room
and I couldn’t believe that we were being served hot sizzling lasagna. I sat on
my chair and my mom served me some. I gobbled it.  I was a hungry tiger; the

97 |Shri Darpan

lasagna was as delicious as heaven. The cheese melted right in my mouth.
Every bite I took it made me happier.

Even though the lasagna was abundant, I fought for every piece. I thought that
the battle for food was over, but I was wrong, there was more coming. My
mom got up and got tiramisu from our fridge. I was as excited as a dog going
for a walk. My mom served it to me. The battle again started. I took most of it
again. I thanked my mom. What a lovely dinner which I shall never forget for
my entire life!

-Prabhav Arjunwadkar VII B

The Childhood Dream!

Ok fine, the only thing I used to like is playing with the cooker and had always
pretended to cook with a plastic corn, cauliflower, cabbage and some water and
metal utensils. I always wanted to be a chef after I grew up. I always felt like
the aroma from my dishes as I used to breathe.  I was just 4.5 years old when I
started to cook.  I became a chef at the age of 6 and took retirement at 8.5 years
old. Now even thinking that I was a chef at my own restaurant and I was waiter
at home makes me laugh.

I use to serve all the people (4 people and 1 small kid).  I feel very embarrassed
when I think of it right now and I never want to be a chef again.

-Rajeev Jonnalagadda VII B

The Most Memorable Dish!

On that day my mother made white sauce pasta.
It is my favourite dish and I would like to share the recipe of my mother’s
White Sauce Pasta.
 For boiling the pasta:
Take 1L Water in a bowl and add salt as per taste and boil the pasta.
For Sauce: In a pan, take 1 cup butter, maida and milk. Saute it together.
For garnishing: Use Red Chili flakes and oregano.
It is my favorite food. These days when I go to a restaurant, I always order
Pasta - sometimes red sauce and at other times white Sauce pasta.  I love fusilli
and penne shaped pastas.

My Favorite Dish:  My Own Maggi

Ingredients: 1 cup water, Maggi noodles, salt and Maggi

Please try to take help from parents to make this recipe at home. Try this

parent’s supervision.

My Favorite Sweet: Rasgulla

Procedure: Take a cup of milk and boil. Take two table spoons of lemon juice
or vinegar. Make the rasgulla balls.

For Sugar Syrup:  Take a cup of water and mix one cup of sugar in it. Then
drop the rasgulla balls in the sugar syrup.

Please try this dessert. It’s a Bengali sweet and my favourite sweet.

My Grandma’s Love!

A special meal that I will never forget is the dish my grandma made for my
birthday every year until she was alive. That dish is vada and some yellow
rice. Even though my mom makes it, I don't get the same taste as the taste
when my ground ma used to make it. I have also tried to make that special
dish but have failed. The unconditional love that my grandma
had towards me made that dish extra special.

Now I have stopped eating that dish because I get back my memories with
my grandma and it breaks me in the heart when I get those memories back
and reminds me of the fact that my grandma is not there with me.
Anyway, it was the best and special dish in the whole world at least for me.
The taste in that dish was from her hands and there was some magic in her
hands. No one can replace that dish and it is the dish that I first ate when I was
a toddler.  Seeing it in my dreams is the only thing I can do now: My grand
mom was the best gift in my life. The thing that has made it
unforgettable was the love in that dish which she poured into it.  I want to
spend a lot of time in making the dish the way she used to.

A Day Well Spent!

It was a fun day! My friends and
I went for a hike to the Anantagiri Hills early in the morning.

The day of my first week was was a pleasant windy day.  Naturally, I had a
mixture of feelings and I was pretty excited, happy, nervous and scared.
We started our drive and when we reached the hills, I felt like I had come to
heaven. It was misty and full of greenery. There were birds flying around and
I could see few squirrels and a few insects too.

Just as we started climbing the hill, I saw a deer.  I tried to touch it but I
couldn’t.  Soon, we got a bit tired by walking and had a quick water break.  We
spotted many hamsters which soon surrounded us; it was great fun playing
with them.

After some time, we started hiking again.  After we went up a bit, we were
mesmerised to get a bird’s eye view of the city.  It looked beautiful.
It was relaxing hike for the air fresh; we could hear the birds twittering and
not the sound of vehicles. The plus point was that there was no pollution.
We also spotted an ancient statue of Buddha which looked calm and
poised. After a fewhours, it was lunch time and we sat down to have lunch
together. It felt like a picnic.

We started our hike once again and ran into one of my uncle’s and his
family soon, we reached the top and the view took my breath away.  It seemed
as if we could touch the clouds which were as soft as marshmallows. Truly, it
was a day well spent.

My Sister and Me!

she would do it as slow as a snail.
