Math Wonder
Math is like a hidden box of treasure,
waiting to be unlocked by some young sharp minds,
who do all math sums right with pleasure?
Maths is really fun and the knowledge it gives
is as vast as an ocean.
The whole of math is just in 10 numbers,
0 to 9 whose value is infinite.
Isn’t it funny, 0 is suppose to be nothing?
but works wonders if it’s on the right side.
Maths is a game of numbers with these operations,
We can do lot of wonders.
Here is happiness equation related to life:
Add love in life, to carry a beautiful wife
Subtract sorrow, which will teach you borrow
Multiply the joy to really enjoy
Divide and share happiness that leads to oneness.
Here lies the beauty of math concepts:
Time, a sequence of events doesn’t wait for ones who are late.
So, work hard like a clock, sit never like a rock.
Here come the shapes:
Circle is round and all it does is roll around.
Square is the name; its 4 sides are same.
Triangle, proud as can be, count its sides 1,2,3.
Next is rectangle don’t get it wrong,
As its 2 sides are short and two sides are long.
Oval is my name, but I and circle are not the same, I look like an egg.
Diamond has 4 sides all of them are diagonal lines.

Fraction, it’s not an action.
These are equal parts of whole but not a hole
When we break it down, everyone has parts of their own.
Math is queen of science, Math is true, Math will help you to solve and prove.
Math is like a life- free wi-fi, if you connect with right password, you can fly
high.
Finally, Practice maths with heart and soul you will surely achieve your goal.

The Megafauna of the Pre- Historic Age
Friends do you know that when i was watching andy’s prehistoric adventure in
amazon, I came across a new extinct species of animal known as the woolly
rhinoceros. Then I went to my mom and asked that do you know about this
animal she said “no”. Then my curiosity took a high leap. I rushed to my laptop
and researched about this megafauna woolly rhino.
Let me put some light on why I choose to write something on the woolly rhino,
where it was found, what they eat, what were their habitats and finally how they
went extinct. Woolly rhinoceros (coelodonta antiquitatis) is an extinct species
of rhino was common throughout europe and northern asia during the ice -age
they survived until the end of the last glacial period. They were the members of
the ice -age megafauna. These megafaunas had long, thick hair that allowed
them to survive in the extreme cold it had a massive hump reaching from its
shoulder. They generally ate grasses, willow, shrubs, and sedges that grew in
the mammoth steppe. The woolly rhino lived mainly in lowlands, plateaus and
river valleys with dry to arid climates. Woolly rhino became extinct around the
same time as the prehistoric “megafauna” such as woolly mammoth and cave
lion. Mainly they went extinct due to climate change. A well-preserved ice-
age woolly rhino with many internal organs is still intact has been recovered
from permafrost in russia, extreme north.
If we don’t take care of our environment and our food chain, it will lead to a
domino effect and we will go extinct like the woolly rhino.

I Love Maths
I love to do Maths, it is always fun..
And I will never stop until the chapter is done.
I want to do maths everyday..
And solve all the questions in my own way.
202 |Shri Darpan
I love to count one, two, three..
I'll never stop doing Maths in glee.
I love to do maths, you can use your brain..
And Maths is like a number game.
Maths is all I want to do..
I'm eager to learn more complex things in Maths too.
Maths is the best..
And it always has some kind of test.
Number are always in my head..
And they come in my dreams when I'm in bed.
Maths is always mysterious..
And it makes me curious.
Maths is as vast as sea..
Everywhere around me is Maths that I see.
Some people might look at math and say 'Oh, jeez!!'
But for people who like it, it's a breeze.
Maths is a lifelong adventure..
And that makes me keen to venture.
I will never give up on Maths ever..
No, not once, NEVER...

Grit
Do you know how grit can help you? Well, this is a story just about that! Once
there was an annual day celebration early in 2017. This took place at Delhi
Public School, where I was studying. I was part of the performance, where I
had to speak about saving water. This was going to be a huge event and there
would be 700 people. I had practised harder than a working bee. When I went
203 |Shri Darpan
to school the next day, I had seen all the arrangements and everything was so
breath taking. Here were some of the things I found amazing. A beautiful stage
and lights as bright as the sun and seats setup to look like stadium. Soon the day
of the performance arrived and that day I felt sick! I was petrified because I
thought all my efforts went down the drain. But then I thought even if I wasn’t
feeling good, I would still do it! My feet were trembling and I had butterflies in
my stomach. During the performance I FELT LIKE THROWING UP !.
But I didn’t stop speaking. Once I finished my speech, the audience cheered and
applauded. Then, I walked to my teachers and explained everything that
happened. They were happy I didn’t complain after, all I had been through and
appreciated me for being so bold. After that I ran to my mom and told her
everything. In conclusion, I leant this is how grit helps us!!

My Most Memorable Online Class
One day during my P.E. class I was so tired to do my exercises and I was seeing
all my friends doing exercises. Suddenly I saw my little brother in my room
hear my computer sound, copying the moves of my friends and ma’am. I was
surprised that my one and half year-old brother can do it, then I can also do it.
Immediately after that, I started doing exercise, from that day onwards my
brother also joins my P.E class and we both do exercise together.

Save Mother Earth
Save mother earth,
Who has given us birth,
Do not cut trees,
Which is a home of buzzing bees,
Trees begin from a seed,
Which gives us everything we need,
Save mother Earth!!!
We see Amazon Rainforest on fire,
Due to which humans and animals perspire,
This is something which we will not admire,
Let’s create something which will inspire,
Save Mother Earth!!!

My Lockdown Routine
The past one year has made us sit in homes. We could not do many things like
going for movies or eating or playing with friends. And it was getting very
boring at home only. But I learned a lot of things like cooking and baking cakes.
I learnt how to break eggs and I learned to make comic strips. I changed my
routine - I have started waking up early and playing badminton and going
cycling. I also help my mom with chores in the kitchen and help dad wash the
car. Now I have started to not get bored all the time. I have realised that there
are many things to do like painting, craft etc. So now I’m not always bored I
sometimes just have fun by learning new things. And I have started reading a
lot - Ruskin Bond stories, Wimpy Kid and Calvin and Hobbes. Mom says we
have to make the best of what we have.

Mother Nature
Namaste,
God has given us a very beautiful gift in the form of nature. We must conserve
our mother nature in every way possible. Nature reduces mental and physical
stress and thus helps us rejuvenate. Instead of taking care of our mother nature
we tend to abuse her in multiple ways. I hereby plead and request that we
conserve mother nature by simple yet effective ways. We can save nature by
planting more trees, use of less plastics and walking by to nearby places instead
of using our vehicles.
LET US SAVE NATURE!

Math - A Mystery
Math is like tricky game,
If you solve it, you will get name and fame.
Numbers are the main players
With so many layers.
Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are the basic rules,
If you don’t follow them, you will be out of clue.
Concepts of math are interesting,
When you work on it you will feel like more accelerating.
Shapes are there in everywhere of life,
They are more of like sweet wife.
Clock always tells me I have to go school,
Otherwise, I will be a fool.
Calendar shows my birthday,
OH, I wish, it would be always a holiday.
Math is like an adventure journey,
Where you learn about money.
Measurement is about length, weight and capacity,
Without this math would sound pity.
Ohhhhh, math is such a treasure,
The more you discover it, the more you get pleasure.
