SKBP1023 Bahasa dan Teknologi Maklumat Objektif

Kursus ini adalah untuk memberi kesedaran tentang peri pentingnya teknologi komunikasi dan
maklumat dalam masyarakat dan aplikasinya dalam pembelajaran bahasa penyelidikan. Kursus ini akan
memberi tumpuan kepada teori Pembelajaran Bahasa Berbantukan Komputer (PBBK) dan perisian-
perisian aplikasinya dalam pembangunan kemahiran bahasa iaitu mendengar dan bertutur, bacaan dan
kefahaman serta penulisan. Untuk mencapai objektif tersebut, kursus ini memperkenalkan bahan
pembelajaran berasaskan web dan pelbagai aktiviti atas talian untuk pembangunan kemahiran bahasa
dan penyelidikan. Kursus ini jugak membantu pelajar mengenalpasti persamaan dan perbezaan bahasa
atas talian yang digunakan dalam portal dan komunikasi berperantaraan komputer. Pelajar juga
mempelajari kaedah menjalankan penyelidikan berkaitan bahasa dan teknologi maklumat menggunakan
pengkalan data dan jurnal atas talian.

This course aims to create a more explicit awareness of the growing importance of information and
communication technology (ICT) in society and its applications in language learning and language
analysis. It will focus on the theory of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and its applications
towards the development of language skills, namely listening and speaking; reading and comprehension;
and writing. To meet this objective, the course will introduce web-based learning materials and various
online activities to also assist students to identify the similarities and differences of online language used
in the development of portal and computer mediated communication. Students will also learn methods
of conducting resarch related to language and ICT using online databases and online journals.

Kursus ini merupakan pengantar kepada teori komunikasi dan kajian media. Ia menerangkan asas dan
proses dalam pembentukan teori komunikasi dan kajian media. Ia turut menjelaskan hubung kait
kaedah kajian dalam pembentukan dan pengesahan sesuatu teori serta meninjau teori-teori utama
dalam komunikasi dan kajian media. Pada akhir kursus, para pelajar dapat mengaplikasi teori
bersesuaian apabila meneliti fenomena komunikasi dan media.

This is an introductory course on communication and media studies theories. It explains the basics and
processess in the construction of communication and media studies theories. It also relates research
methods with the testing and validating of a particular theory. The major theories of communication
and media studies will be reviewed and discussed. By the end of the course, students should be able to
apply appropriate theory to do research on communication and media studies.

SKKP1033 Pengantar Komunikasi Antara Budaya

Komunikasi antara budaya adalah proses simbolik yang melibatkan interaksi di antara manusia yang
mempunyai pelbagai persepsi budaya. Komunikasi merupakan proses perkongsian pengertian yang
kompleks dan dinamik serta dicirikan oleh norma dan amalan tertentu dalam konteks sejarah, ekonomi,
politik dan sosial. Perbincangan meliputi pengenalan kerangka konseptual, mengenalpasti cabaran
interaksi dalam kehidupan seharian dan meninjau isu kontemporari komunikasi antara budaya di
peringkat nasional dan antarabangsa. Pada akhir kursus, para pelajar akan dapat mengenalpasti

perbezaan dan persamaan ciri-ciri budaya, cabaran kehidupan masyarakat dari pelbagai budaya di tahap
lokal dan global serta mempertingkatkan kemahiran interaksi antarabudaya mereka.

Intercultural communication is a symbolic process that involves interaction between people from
differing cultural perceptions. It is the process of sharing of meanings that is complex and dynamic,
characterised by particular norms and practices within a historical, economic, political and social
context. This course introduces a conceptual framework, identifies challenges of interaction in everyday
life and explores contemporary intercultural communication issues at national and international levels.
By the end of the course, students will be able to distinguish the similarities and differences between
cultures, the challenges at the local and global levels, as well as improve their intercultural interaction
skills.

Kursus ini memperkenalkan pelajar kepada bidang dan skop komunikasi media serta dimensi-dimensi
utamanya: kewartawanan, penyiaran, perfileman, perhubungan awam, pengiklanan dan literasi media.
Pelajar diajar mengenali persamaan dan perbezaan dimensi-dimensi tersebut, di samping menghargai
fungsi dan kepentingannya dalam kehidupan sosial seharian. Kursus ini membolehkan pelajar mengenal
pasti kebergunaan praktis bidang komunikasi media dalam usaha membina kerjaya sebagai pengamal
media. Penekanan diberikan kepada pemahaman tentang dimensi-dimensi ini untuk memantapkan
apresiasi pelajar terhadap konvergens media pada masa kini. Pada akhir kursus, pelajar boleh mengenali
bidang dan skop komunikasi media serta memahami konvergens dalam mediaskap yang kian berubah.



This course introduces students to the field and scope of media communication, and its main
dimensions, namely journalism, broadcasting, film, public relations, advertising and media literacy.
Students are taught to appreciate the similarities and differences of the dimensions, as well as their
functions and significance in their daily social lives. This course will enable students to identify the
practical utility of media communication in an effort to build a career as a media communication
practitioner. Emphasis will be given to the comprehension of the dimensions in order to enhance
students’ appreciation of the current media convergence. By the end of the course, students should be
familiar with the field and scope of media communication, and understand the convergence that is
prevailing in an evolving mediascape.

SKKC1063 Khalayak dan Wacana Media

Kursus ini berfokus kepada pelbagai pendekatan untuk mentakrif dan meneliti konsep khalayak media.
Hubungan kompleks media-khalayak turut diterokai, di samping memperkenalkan kaedah dan beberapa
pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif untuk menganalisis khalayak. Beberapa wacana media
kontemporari juga diperdebatkan. Pada akhir kursus, pelajar memahami konsep khalayak, serta mampu
menganalisis wacana media dengan kritis.

The course focuses on the various ways of defining and studying media audiences. The complexities and
fluidity of media audience relationship are explored and examined. It also discussed the various
methodologies of audience analysis using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. In addition
contemporary media discourses are also debated. By the end of the course, students can understand
the concept of audience and its complexities, as well as critically analyse media discourses.

Kursus ini bertujuan memperkenalkan beberapa sistem dan teori terdapat dalam disiplin psikologi.
Perspektif sejarah dan falsafah psikologi, asas psikologi zaman Greek Klasik, perkembangan idea
psikologi dari zaman Empayar Rom hingga ke zaman pertengahan dan pembaharuan, asas kemunculan
sains moden, ambang kemunculan psikologi sebagai sains, kemunculan psikologi sebagai sains dan
sistem psikologi moden yang meliputi strukturalisme, fungsionalisme, psikoanalisis, behaviorisme dan
humanistik. Perkembangan psikologi mutakhir yang membabitkan kemunculan dan kebangkitan sains
kognitif dan neuro kognisi turut dibincangkan.

The purpose of this course is to introduce several theories and systems in psychology. The course
includes discussions on the historical and philosophical perspectives of psychology, the development of
psychological ideas from the time of Roman age to the middle ages and renaissance, the emergence of
modern science, the development of psychology as a scientific discipline as well as modern psychology
that includes systems such as structuralism, functionalism, psychoanalysis, behaviorism and humanistic.
The discussions also include the development of the current psychology that introduces cognitive
science and cognitiveneuro science.

Kursus ini memperkenalkan persepsi dan kognisi sebagai pendekatan bagi memahami tingkah laku
manusia. Tajuk yang akan diliputi: (i) mekanisme pengamatan, objek dan bentuk, kedalaman dan saiz.
(ii) prinsip ingatan dan pemprosesan maklumat. (iii) proses mental peringkat tinggi ditinjau dari segi
penakulan, penyelesaian masalah dan pembuatan keputusan. Selain mengikuti kuliah pelajar
dikehendaki merancang dan menjalankan penyelidikan menggunakan reka bentuk eksperimen.

This course introduces perception and cognition as an approach to understand human behavior. The
topics covered include: i) perception mechanism, objects and forms, depth and size. ii) principle of
memory and information processing. iii) studying high level of mental processing through reasoning,
problem solving and decision making. Apart from attending lectures students are required to plan and
conduct a research using experimental design.

Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Erich Fromm, Albert Bandura, Abraham Maslow, Erik Erikson, Carl Rogers,
Raymond Cattell dan beberapa tokoh lagi tentang pembentukan dan sifat semulajadi personaliti
individu. Ia bertujuan untuk memberi pemahaman tentang faktor-faktor yang menyumbang kepada
pembentukan dan perkembangan sifat atau karektor manusia dan kenapa mereka bertingkah laku
dengan cara tertentu. Kursus ini juga turut membincangkan mengenai ciri-ciri unik individu serta sifat-

sifat yang berbentuk lebih sejagat yang dikongsi oleh semua manusia. Secara khususnya kursus ini
memfokuskan kepada sejarah pengkajian personaliti, definisi personaliti dan metod pengkajian
personaliti serta teknik penilaian dan penggunaan pelbagai alat-alat ujian bagi menilai dan mengukur
personaliti. Di antara teori-teori utama yang dibincangkan dalam kursus ini adalah pendekatan
psikoanalitik, neo-psikoanalitik, humanistik, tret, pembelajaran sosial, pendekatan sepanjang hayat dan

This course discusses theories that have been formulated by renowned psychologists such as Sigmund
Freud, Carl Jung, Erich Fromm, Albert Bandura, Abraham Maslow, Erik Erikson, Carl Rogers, Raymond
Cattell and a few others regarding the nature and the development of an individual personality. It aims
to provide an understanding about the contributory factors that lead to the formation and development
of human characters and to answer the question of why human behave the way they do. It also
discusses the unique features of an individual personality together with the traits and characters that
are being universally shared by people all over the world. This course is tailored to specifically focus on
the history of personality study, the definitions and methods used to study personality, as well as
personality assessment which is based on various personality tests. Among the theories of personality
that are being discussed are the psychoanalytic, neo-psychoanalytic, humanistic, traits approach, social
