2 About HCA Healthcare

Letter from Jim Brown, CEO 3

You may recall that “You Asked, We Listened” was established in 2020 in response to suggestions in
the Employee Engagement Survey. I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of the recent
changes, enhancements, and additions. The list below comes as a result of you providing feedback
about what we might do to make HCA North Cypress a great place to work.

Addition of a lactation room on the administrative corridor on the hospital’s first floor near the cafeteria
Staff access to the recently upgraded gym/weight room located on the first floor of POB1
Reopening of the Café in POB 2 near outpatient imaging and HOPD
Breakfast service in the cafeteria
Chick-fil-a Wednesdays in the cafeteria
Starbucks now open on Sundays
Picnic tables for outdoor dining and fellowship
Extended weekend shuttle hours
Additional timeclocks
Daisy Award promotion

There are also a number of projects underway that I believe you will enjoy or find beneficial.
Some of these include the following.

Bench installation at the shuttle drop-of
Baby changing tables in public restrooms
EV charging station
Security cameras in Pre-op/Post-op

In addition to these changes, we’ve also purchased task chairs, additional recliners, minor
equipment, and begun refurbishing break rooms and offices. I share these examples as they may
trigger further ideas of modest improvements that we can make. Please keep your ideas coming.

On Saturday the 12th of March, I had to visit the emergency
room at North Cypress. Pleasantly surprised by the friendly
ambiance, enhanced by the excellent attentive care I reviewed
by the nursing staff. Amber Harris, ER RN, was the initial
person that greeted me, Autumn was my next point of
contact that day, and Sara Jakob, RN, was the last of the
nursing staff that took care of me. These ladies helped to
make my unfortunate visit to the emergency room not only
tolerable but pleasant. Thank you to these angels.

thrive. Son Brendan Nalbone. He is a chemical engineer working at Phillips 66 Refinery in

this plant into the world’s largest renewable fuel plant to support the growing demand
for this product. I have 2 fur babies: Max is 10 a Papillion and Molly is 5 and a
Beagle/Terrier mix. They go everywhere with us.
Favorite color: Hot Pink

Interesting Fact: My wife and I started volunteering at North

Favorite HCA Memory: I really like that people, not only hospital
employees but friends and family of patients, who express their
appreciation for the help we give them. Hospitals can be very
complex and intimating for those who do not visit very often
and are lost as to how to find them. They appreciate that we
will escort them to ICU, East Tower or Imaging etc. instead of
just telling them how many lefts and/or rights to make to get
there. They are stressed enough about having to deal with
someone who is sick or hurt and in the hospital and it makes me
feel good to know that our efforts are valued.
HCA Tenure: I started volunteering with Cypress Fairbanks
Medical Center in 2003 and moved to North Cypress Medical
